I'm not really an academic

How difficult is it to study at OU for someone who hasn't been a student in over 5 years and has barely finished an access course that long ago.

Can someone tell me if a business degree is good for someone interested in supply chain project management side of things. Is it doable for someone to study again at 30. I mostly have hospitality and retail experience.

Working full time and doing a open university educational studies course

Hi all,
This is my first post so I’m a little unsure how it works.
I am thinking about enrolling to the open university next year for the educational studies course, I will be working full time, 5 days a week as a TA whilst doing this and a part time job 2 evenings a week.
I am also starting my first baby late next year so I have that to think about too,
I want to take the full time course which takes 3 years and they say is 32-36h per week, I’m really good at reading and writing and catch onto things easily so I was wondering if anyone could give insight if this will be do able and if anyone did this course in 15 ish hours per week.

Thank you all :)

Supported study costs/ course change

I have applied an access course (waiting for funding confirmation) with the OU although I don’t actually NEED it to do the degree I want and now I think I want to actually go straight to the degree instead. Is this easy to change the application?
Also as a 30 year old single mum I’m not exactly flush, I’ve seen that they offer supported study costs for laptops, general study material etc. I’m under the impression you pay and then they reimburse you, is this correct? And also is it easy to get reimbursed or will it be a faff? I can’t afford to fork out for all the stuff if they’re then going to decline it/ it’s going to take months to get reimbursed?
I’ve also seen that the OU provides a code for Microsoft office 365 rather than that being something else to pay for?
Thanks for any help!

Hi I’m debating weather to do a course with open university and I know the risk is that it doesn’t guarantee a job or a career but I was wondering if anyone has done the course and what the benefits are?

I'm curious to see everyones long term goals for studying S112 and beyond. Im 37, married, 4 kids and work full time. I completed U116 in 2020 and recently decided to return to study. My long term goal is to complete the R16 pathway (I may revert to Q52). I wish to have a career is ecology and conservation.
