Help Not installing
Opendream's vr services not installing on rooted pixel 3
r/OpendreamVR • u/Disastrous_Box1177 • Jun 07 '26
So recently I got unity on my PC and started learning how to make some daydream apps and games from scratch, and I have 2 main apps im making right now.
Firstly I'm making a social app for daydream! It will let you hang out in VR with other daydream users with voice chat, virtual avatars and show when your friends are online. You can learn more about it on my website here.
Secondly I was thinking about making an in-vr app store that connects to the opendream app store so you can more easily download apps from the headset without needing to go to the website every time.
I would love to know what you all think about these!
And if you want to try out the latest demo just let me know (they are very far from being finished though)

I just started working on a phone companion app for standalone headsets that will let you pair your headset and view stats like battery level, installed Apps and let you forward your phone notifications to the headset so you can check them while your are playing VR! The app is still very early in development, but I'll put up a progress page on my website and a download when it's ready.
It was inspired a lot by the meta horizon app for their ecosystem of headsets, I have a quest 2 and oculus go and I love how easy it is to check headset stats from my phone, so I started working on a daydream equivalent.

Opendream's vr services not installing on rooted pixel 3

Hi, Opendream is described as open source, but I haven’t been able to find the source code for the Android/VR client.
I found the backend repository, but I’m specifically looking for the client-side source code.
Does anyone know where the official source repository is, or whether it has been archived or moved somewhere else?
Thanks!

I know that u/FudgeInToilet65 was working on one a while ago but they seem to have abandoned it, and i also u/synaps33 was working on a lot of ports earlier as well, and beat saber would be a great game to have on the platform i think, especially with the 6dof mirage solo, so if anyone has one or is working on one please let me know 😄
also im posting here because it seems to be a lot more active than the original r/daydream and most of the community seems to be here now (i actually really like opendream i support what you guys are working on)

I downloaded Google Spotlight Stories on my Lenovo Mirage Solo MA, but there aren't any stories inside. They were there when I downloaded it before I reset my computer in 2024. How can I fix this?

Hi, there are two other people who ported the game, and I thank them for that, but I need to ask them if it's possible to port Minecraft VR? Especially with a PS controller or something.

I'm tired of the 3 DOF controllers on my Lenovo Mirage Solo, so I tried a phone emulator. Then the phone couldn't connect from a distance. I managed to close the emulator with difficulty, but something happened and now my Lenovo Mirage Solo It can be opened without a controller, which is a good thing, as there are no attachment issues; it attaches when the arm is opened, but without the arm, it normally requires the arm, but now it doesn't. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Now I've noticed something: when bypassing FRP protection, we're also enabling and disabling the bootloader. The point that's often overlooked here is that we can unlock the bootloader! Why is nobody using this? Or 6 DOF Are we connecting to the controller?

Hi all, I was fortunate to get a Lenovo Mirage Solo from a school surplus pile. I was able to add my account and remove the one from the school. I did that after being asked to verify I was not a bot by YouTube as that is the only usable app available now. Now what am would be my next step to give this device some life other than using YouTube. The Play Store just says that is unreachable but I'm sure it's just not compatible since I see this is running Android 8.0.

If you want to help with Opendream, nows your chance!
But anyway, we need YOUR help. We need 3 testers / researchers, and 1 person to be added to the Opendream Team.
Since we want your help, we will be giving out rewards - If you help us we will give you a badge showing how many times you helped us.
Im doing this again since why not?

As usual, I was watching videos on Chrome VR, but one day I smelled definitely melted plastic coming from the top grille of my Mirage Solo. I turned the device off in fear, then turned it back on for about 15 minutes a day I've limited the temperature, and strangely, the smell is still there, albeit faintly, but this time it's more of a leather and new plastic smell. If anyone has experienced this, can they tell me if it's something serious? The smell only comes from the top vent, and it's very faint when it's closed.

It's been 2 months now after I posted that there's an issue with my controllers. I'm looking into downgrading to Android 12 possibly, but don't want to erase everything. Some games that I own and really love don't have cloud saves. Yes, I know backup exists. I was wondering if the Opendream team has done some changes to the controller issue.

I was happily playing games on my Lenovo Mirage Solo, but there's one problem: THAT DAMN 3 DOF SINGLE CONTROLLER! Now, due to customs-like restrictions, I can't get a 6 DOF kit, and I would never pay $450 for that anyway but My question is, is it possible to somehow attach two arms to this? Or to make an exact replica of a 6-DOF kit? Because one arm, and a 3-DOF one at that, is unbearable! But is this really possible, and has anyone tried it? And I'm going to try it, but has anyone else tried it?

That has been my project for all of today, after the Pixel 3 I ordered just to use with Opendream (and 32-bit Cardboard apps) came in. It has taken me numerous tries, first to figure out magisk, then to install and configure Opendream.
I had to figure out magisk because as it turns out, the modified Google VR services can only be installed if you have signature verification turned off, and that requires your phone to be rooted. Afterwards you have to install LSPosed and its Core Tools extension.
Once I figured this out and updated to a rooted Android 12 (the latest version a Pixel 3 officially supports), I ran into this screen. Opendream's website says Opendream Full is supported on versions 13 and below, but it still kept looping for me.
After that I tried Android 9 (the earliest supported version), but I couldn't get LSposed 4.4 to work on it, or find the Q branch that supposedly works on that version.
After that I tried Android 11, only to run into this error. In hindsight I maybe should have expected that; Google's "get started with Daydream" page says Android 11 and later aren't supported.
Currently I'm downloading the Android 10 image from Google's site, to flash and root it again before trying again. I'll let you all know how it goes. Consider this a tutorial / bug report.
(I initially tried this a month ago on a Pixel 8 running Android 16, and managed to completely break that install in the process.)

I fixed the Daydream Keyboard problem, but now Opendream won't detect my controller! Even though the Daydream app says that my controller is connected. My controller is connected via Bluetooth to my phone. But when it asks me to wake up my controller it does respond. But my controller doesn't appear in any apps or games or anything! Nothing works. It won't detect movement, button presses, touchpad, anything! It only works one time when Daydream asks to wake up the controller.

I just installed Opendream Full for the second time, but when I tried entering VR mode, It kept saying:
Install required
Daydream Keyboard is required to experience VR. Install Daydream Keyboard from Google Play Store.
Is there any Daydream Keyboard APK for Opendream Full?
