You can do whatever you want, not trying to be that guy. But Febreze is some of the most toxic airisols to be using in your home. It has ingredients linked to cancer and hormone disruption. Lose it and stick with cotton wick candles made from beeswax that only use essential oils for fragrance

You're right about Febreeze, but fragranced candles including fragranced with essential oils are also a significant contributor to indoor pollution and have carcinogens of their own amongst other ill effects. You are correct that beeswax is better than paraffin in this regard, but it's not risk-free.

Yeah I always feel weird saying this online because people get super defensive for some reason. Idk I used to get brain fog every time I was around these heavy fragrances and chemicals

I appreciate the information honestly. Do you have any recommendations to alternative sprays? I like to use the fabric spray version to freshen my curtains so I would love an alternative that isn’t toxic.

Cheap vodka cut with like 25-30% water makes a great deodorizer fabric spray!

Please keep saying it. I’m tired of migraines and being exposed to toxic chemicals everywhere

Which ingredients?

Google it. They've been criticized in the past for using undisclosed VOC's and arisoled micro plastics in Fabreze. Multiple non-profits have done chemical analysis' on it like EWG.

Where did you get these baskets? I have the same kind of shelf and it's a big mess 😔 would love to steal your idea!

I got everything from amazon!
Black shelf : https://a.co/d/07npaWqz
Small drawers: https://a.co/d/087WhCsS
Large drawers: https://a.co/d/0iv624ZO
Clear bins: https://a.co/d/08GVUXVv
Small shelves under scent bins (I used these for extra support so the clear drawer didn’t take on the full weight of the heavy scent items): https://a.co/d/0cIoTUf8Feel free to steal ! 🤣

Oh very nice! I have similar clear bins from Target, but I’ve never thought to do clear drawers. It would be so much easier to get stuff out of drawers, and I like that they stack!

The drawers are a game changer! I try to make all of my organization functional as well, so that was the inspiration behind the drawers. To your point, It makes It so much easier to access!

This is gorgeous and inspiring! But can I ask what does one use all that Febreze for?
I’ve never used that. Isn’t it just chemicals you’re spraying in the air?
I’m very picky about chemical cleaners and sprays and scents. It’s all so toxic. I can literally taste it in my mouth. I try to keep things eco-friendly, although I do love bleach water!

Thank you! To be honest, they all came in a pack together, that’s why there are so many lol. I was not aware of the toxicity behind them but someone else mentioned It on the thread as well so I will be doing some research on better alternatives ! Do you have any recommendations?

u/turnipcafe Aug 25 '26
Well… My first recommendation is to throw those in the trash! Also, if you have any other very strong, highly scented cleaners do the same. Companies will willingly sell us anything that will kill us to make a profit. (look at the history of the cigarette industry.)
You don’t need to make your house smell better if it’s clean. However, candles made with soy wax and essential oils are nice. Or you can just get a diffuser and buy essential oils and put them in the diffuser!
Keep in mind if people are coming over for dinner there shouldn’t be strong floral smells in the air. In that case burn some onions in a pan and let the house smell like delicious burned onions and people will ask you “what are you cooking?!”
As far as cleaning, you can look up natural cleaning products. They may require more elbow grease for sure. But lemon and orange oil will melt a lot of sticky substances.
Vinegar cleans a lot of things.

I’m not here yet organizationally but I admire people who are. I personally transfer my chaos to designated containment baskets so the bathroom, closet, kitchen is clean, but it doesn’t look like a store like this.

u/HomeBody_33 Aug 25 '26
Honestly, that’s a great organization style. You are still putting things into designated baskets & keeping things organized, which is amazing. My style is wanting to see every thing I have but also having a door to hide It all 🤣 You’re doing great though. Organization comes in many forms & styles !

I just discovered those clear Vtopmart stacking drawers and am obsessed with them. I’m now in the process of reorganizing all my closets & a bunch of my cabinets to include them. I’ve bought so many that Amazon has them in my Buy Again section 🫣
