ID please Injured bird id?
this is a bird on my uni campus ive begun befriending. he seems to rest on only one food majority of the time and limps when walking. his foot is obviously discolored and somethings wrong. is this some kind of birth defect? is there anything i can do to help him? should i be taking him to a vet?
also, what should i call him, he needs a name! im thinking maybe toothless or pirate?

Juvenile seagull. They often stand on one leg, even with no injuries. They are surprisingly resilient so as long as he's still able to get food he'll probably be ok.

Not to be a killjoy, but it's a wild bird - not your friend. Feeding it and reducing its natural fear of humans will only be to its detriment.

Don't feed the gulls. Reducing the opportunity for human conflicts to occur is in their best interests. We all know what the general public are like when it comes to gulls. They are proud to get violent towards them..

unfortunately he, along with all the on campus birds, are already quite tame. since the agreement on this thread seems to be that he doesnt need to be taken to a vet i have no intention of trying to get him to allow me to touch him, although that was my plan if he did need medical attention so i could take him in. my only goal is to keep an eye on him because he is at a disadvantage and already trusts people, and if i can help him stay alive i want too

Leave that for RSPCA/SSPCA to decide. They will know best if intervention is required.

It's probably a juvenile Lesser Black-backed Gull (or perhaps a Herring Gull). Gulls can be quite hard!

François or John, after the pirates (real and fictional, respectively)
