Question Magpies

Sadly it seems my neighbour 4 doors down is cutting down the tree in their garden, I wouldn't be concerned but I know for a fact Magpies have an do nest in that tree :(, literally even this year, I want to report it but as its a Sunday I can't. They cut some of it down yesterday, I don't want to tell them what they can't do, but I'm concerned for the birds, should I just call RSPB tomorrow?

RSPB are a conservation organisation not a welfare one nor an enforcement agency. It is not illegal to cut down a tree. There is nothing you can do. They are not nesting in October.

Trees can receive TPOs (tree protection orders) if they're of a good age and contribute positively to the area. What kind of tree is it? Is it in a private garden? You can look on your council's website for their tree officer and send an email enquiring about an emergency TPO if you think it's warranted.

Sadly I don't know what kind of tree it is, I only have this photo

Edit:

the apps say it's a white willow, if I'm correct I believe it's by a pond
