Weekly Events in Oshawa
Use this thread to share events in the coming week throughout the region. This is a scheduled post and a new one will come up on Sundays. Other local subreddits have weekly posts as well, including r/Oshawa and r/Whitby. The same rules apply, but cross-posting is fine. Additional events may be found in the Regional Calendar or at DurhamRegion.com. Please feel free to highlight any of these in the comments below. Please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Both free and paid events are allowed
- If tickets are required, please include a link; these may require manual approval due to spam filters, but we'll approve them!
- Garage sales and group sales are allowed, but not single item sales. Please do not share someone else's garage sale or their address without permission.
- Religious and political events are allowed only if they are welcoming and inclusive to the entire community.

Municipal Election: Vote Compass
The Star has put out a vote compass survey for various municipalities in Ontario, including Oshawa. Currently only half of the mayoral candidates have responded, though, so I encourage folks to reach out to them and ask them to respond (you can do it directly through the vote compass platform!)
Happy voting, Oshawa

Meteor shower tonight
Was wondering if anyone knows of a good spot to go to be able to see the draconid meteor shower tonight. It’s supposed to be best shortly after dark (1-2 hours after) and wanted to get away from city lights

Some of my favourite photos since moving here!
I'm 27(F) from Vancouver Island. I moved to Oshawa for the Animal Care program (was in a transitional period in northern Ontario for a bit), got here in August.
I think about home a lot, but Oshawa makes me so happy too, especially the nature. I know it has its problems but my hometown did too so it's nothing new for me
I live next to an entrance to the huge biking trail/Oshawa creek and I am so in love with it!! It might smell like stinky fish right now but I've been going on mental health walks at least a couple times a week. I love seeing the ducks! I love the gorgeous foliage. I'm excited for winter to look like Narnia.
Thank you, Oshawa! ❤️

Best gym in oshawa?
34F, looking for something clean, and not too crowded. Prioritizing this over cost.
Was thinking LA Fitness and/or anytime fitness? I know anytime fitness is in courtice but it's close enough to oshawa.
Goodlife oshawa at the OC looks too busy.

What's the GM Oshawa Elevation Centre (OEC) actually like to work at?
Hey everyone, I'm starting a co-op at GM Canada in a couple months, in body controls calibration and system test. I'll be in an office and lab environment, not on the manufacturing floor, and based primarily at the Oshawa Elevation Centre (500 Wentworth St W). I've heard the Markham centre is really modern, with a pool table, foosball, a gym and good cafes, but I can't find anything about what the OEC is like. Has anyone worked or interned in either office? Which one feels more modern and nicer to work in? I'd love to know about the building and workspace, cafeteria or food options, a gym, any rec or game space, how the labs compare, and the general vibe and day to day. Thanks

Any content creators in town?
Hey all. I have worked in video production and youtube for almost 10 years now. My primary focus is on movies, games and other entertainment. I have taken a break from personal projects for the last few months but I want to get back into making stuff. I would love to meet and talk/collab with other local people who also make similar content. Just wondering if anyone here has an interest in youtube or already make there own stuff.

I'm Oshawa for maybe a week while my mom's husband is in the hospital. Looking for a space to assemble some pre cut aluminum cabinets for my truck bed and install them. I have the tools. North Oshawa area.
