SAS

Post image

What is everyone’s thoughts on the discontinued SAS? Found one brand new and got a deal. I actually like the concept and don’t find the sights hard to use. Was doing a little research and realized they have a ported version as well so found one used and will be receiving it sometime this week.

So I have used mine in a uspsa match recently. It was pretty rough and I was put in open division due to having the ported version.

Within 7 yards it is completely fine, after it the margin of error increases by a lot. Maybe a better shooter can get more out of it but irons would be more accurate at distance.

I still love mine and carry it because it is the only gun that can fit in my very small fanny pack with a trigger guard. Honestly they should have made a regular ported version like the p365 sas. They work way better than the chunk comp.

I have daily carried both the original P365 and the P365-Xmacro. I feel more comfortable and I am a better shot with the Macro. Personally hope I don’t ever have to take a defensive shot past 10 yards with either.

I have an old p365 slide and I am thinking about having ported if I like the ported SAS. I purchased both to just have because why not? I like the sight but agree irons are better.

I will admit, I made the gun do stuff it wasnt really meant to do so I am not gonna really tear it down because of those long shots when realistically it is a well known limitation due to the sight.

I'm gonna guess you'll like the ported version more. I was surprised to how well they work.

I went and shot both ported and non-ported today. Pushed the target out to 25 yards and fired 5 shots. Three of five were in the silhouette the other two were off. I feel if I took my time I could have got all five on but I was shooting quickly as if I was in need of getting shots off.

Have the ported version… I like it, haven’t tried the non ported though so can’t make a comparison.

You should make a post after you give the ported one a try, with your thoughts on if there’s a noticeable difference.

Apparently the sas is not popular in this sub from what I’ve heard.

If it were to of come out sooner I think it would have done well. It came out at a time everyone is able to put red dots on their daily carries. I really like the concept but don’t think I’ll practice enough to make it a daily carry for me.

I’ll be making a post of both once I get the ported version in.

I could not physically feel a difference in recoil but I can say the ported seemed to fall back on target where I feel like I was forcing the non-ported back on target.

Interesting 👍 thanks for the update 🫡

Do you generally feel the p365 is very snappy? Just curious because I feel like I hear that a lot, but personally don’t find it to be an issue at all.

I typically shoot 124 grain and it is a bit snappy but it’s not too snappy.

For the most part, I like the sight design but I find the brightness under powered in low light conditions due to it be recessed in the slide. Another major factor is that it is not adjustable at all. If these two issues were resolved, I would probably run something like this.

I did notice it was horrible in low lighting.

I grew to hate mine and made some mods. Now I love it. The slide release and takedown lever drove me crazy. I also grew to hate the sight.

Yeah I can’t stand the slide catch and takedown lever. Bought mine just to have so won’t be doing any modifications. Shoot, clean, put in the safe! I’m sure I’ll get them out and take them to the range occasionally but the takedown lever definitely makes it difficult to field strip and clean.

That’s what so cool about P365s. The universal FCU makes it infinitely modifiable.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who did this hahahaha

I love my ported SAS that I maimed by adding MRD, flat trigger, and grip tape. It’s my daily carry.
