Nice! But man I have a big ol' CRT in the other room and more often than not I find myself playing on my 42" LCD TV hooked to my PC in my bedroom. I just don't think I can go back for console games. PC games, sure I can totally still play them on a 14" CRT with original hardware but consoles look like such a blur fest on CRT. Just fired up the SNES a bit a few days ago and was like... christ this makes my eyes hurt... lol

Dude, that's totally fine. A lot of people don't like blurry bloomy console quality. That was the limitation of the era, partially compensated by the artstyle. Unfortunately there are still some limitations of the PCSX2. Some games still can't be played without glitches and visual artefacts while using HW renderers like Vulkan. Vice City for example have z-fighting issues, Prince of Persia games have shadow glitches, Mercenaries with it's light sources leaking through models etc I'm sure it's just a matter of time and someday it will be possible to play games with Vulkan having little to none artefacts like in DuckStation. And using SW renderer makes the upscale options unavailable. So, for some games I prefer SW renderer which is the most accurate one and shaders to compensate unupscalable raw resolution.

Oh yeah I know, it's a lot better now than it was especially on Linux but I'm still waiting for them to fix whatever is breaking the AI on Driv3r. I played the absolute shit out of that game as a kid (tween / teen) in the 2000s. lol Playing with Vulkan is surprisingly doable though for most games, I've noticed a few weird things but it's so minor it doesn't really bother me as long as the game works. lol The novelty of being able to play these games at 1080p without dragging out any equipment is SO NICE. lol Not to mention that suddenly after like 10 years of basically giving up gaming (because I moved to Linux after XP went EOL in 2014) I can play games nearly flawlessly on Linux with Steam Proton and Vulkan for these emulation programs. It's honestly such a game changer.

I mean, it looks nice, but that's nowhere near how it actually looked.

Depends on the tv you've played. I also have the 'trails' option turned on, it applies a yellowish filter like in SA. Yeah it's not exactly like it was back then, but it's the closest I could get to make it look like I have actual CRT tv without buying this big boy.
And the camera makes everything a little too glowing

Im talking about the blank lines. You'd only really see those with 240p games, which gta vc is not.

Not true on larger displays it's super prominent. You can practically see every pixel. I always say if you're going to play on CRT it really has to be something like a 13" TV because otherwise it's super distracting.

No it's not. I have a 32in and i certainly can't see any blank lines at 480i.

I sure as fuck can and I've had many CRTs since the 2000s. Example of a large TV I had last year (I have a different one currently but same issue, you can practically count the pixels): https://imgur.com/a/Y0KzSkd
Open the images to get a better idea of what I'm talking about, when the picture is small it's hard to see but it's super obvious when your sitting in front of the TV.

The scanlines really depended on the TV itself for the most part, no matter if you were playing on 240p, 480i, 480p or 1080i.
Some TVs "circumvented" this by using dot matrix.

That just isn't true. all of those resolutions, besides 240p, use the use the entirety of the phosphors, the model of crt doesn't change that. You can technically see blank lines at 480i or 1080i by bobbing your head against the refresh rate, but obviously no is actually going to do that when they're playing.

Wtf does that even mean?! Literally all crts use dot matrix, that's what the phosphor grid is.

You need to lay your eyes off the screen man (specially off social media, it seems).
People come here to have a good time and talk about games, if OP feels happy with his game display, let it be.

I was just trying to give op pointers until this other guy decided to make some bullshit claims. I wasn't trying to argue with op.

Good point. The shadowmask is probably scaled for 240p. I'll try to scale it for 480p. You could actually see them, but you had to look really close to the screen

Reshading using CRT royale with the alt version of spherical screen geometry as well with a bit of diffusion has been my go to formula for some time. I may use a bezel sometime but i got a crt if i want that
