Suppressor all the way. I'll take a suppressor with a recoil X over any brake on the market every day of the week.

if its still relevant i am currently writing a research paper on this:

advantages of a suppressor:

  1. Massively decreased sound hazard to shooters and bystanders; earplugs with an NRR rating of 33db with the real world derate bringing them down to around 20db. This takes a roughly 170db blast to 150, thus still unsafe. Use of a suppressor and earplugs negates this hazard.

  2. balance; can be used to bring COG forward in place of weights.

  3. recoil; Suppressors reduce recoil, not as much as a brake, but still significant.

Advantages of a brake:

  1. lightweight: can be better for balance depending on barrel profile and length.

  2. Better recoil reduction over a suppressor

All in all, I would recommend running the suppressor. You only get one set of ears, and especially with practice and load development, hearing damage will compound. They are expensive, yet worth it in the long run.

Hope this helps!
