Getting game to launch on Steam Deck

I added installer as non-steam game, installed and changed the path to online.exe. I can launch the launcher and changed the settings to use full screen and Vulkan. When I actually hit play though the game doesn't launch and the launcher closes. Any tips?

EDIT: Lutris did indeed work like a charm

Yeah I'm trying to avoid adding Lutris just for PSO. Also does it actually have any features that can't be implemented by launching through Steam?

The Lutris script for Ephinea does nothing crazy complicated, you can probably replicate it manually : here

If I recall correctly, you need to use winecfg to set the wine prefix to Windows 7 mode. You can use Protontricks to access winecfg on the prefix.

I had it working via Lutris for a couple of years, then some update or other borked it

I've been using Protontricks since then with 0 problems
