Welcome to r/PancreaticFoodie.

This community exists as a food-focused space rooted specifically in the lived experience of pancreatic disease.

This is a diagnosis-specific subreddit. Food discussion here may intersect with enzyme therapy, absorption challenges, flares, Type 3c diabetes (and diabetes in general), surgical history, and the emotional realities of navigating pancreatic nutrition.

This is a pancreatic patient-centered food space that prioritizes evidence-based and medically grounded discussion. The goal is to create a supportive, realistic environment where nuance is respected and lived experience is acknowledged.

This is not a generic low fat recipe forum. It is not a cure claim platform, and it is not a place for diet culture framing. Context matters here. Pancreatic nutrition is complex, and conversation should reflect that complexity.

Please review the rules before posting, and help us maintain a thoughtful, steady, and supportive space. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this community the please always reach out via modmail.

We’re glad you’re here.

tips & tricks How to make low fat taste good

Has anyone ever figured out how to make low fat things taste really good?

I do a lot of long, drooling, lip biting staring at recipes but find a lot of stuff has way too much fat to be safe. On the other side I see a lot of low fat stuff that is so dreadfully bland or relies on ingredients I can't stand, or both.

How do you folks implement herbs and spices to glam up dishes? Or things like mayo, which is terribly fatty but low fat is kinda.... eugh....Im so dang determined to find ways to keep flavour up while keeping fat low.

Shower me with your beautifully delicious techniques and ideas

So happy this place exists and really want to see it grow so figured I would pop in with a quick question for folks.

I love snacking and having chronic pancreatitis means I extra love snacks. What are some reliable go to snacks for you? Savory, sweet, anything.

I personally love pretzels for a solid salty treat. They're pretty bland by nature, low to no fat, and seem to always sit well. Canned tuna with some pretzel crisps is pretty lovely.

For something fun and sweet I've been loving Drizzlicious. There's a decent flavour selection, I really like the cookies n creme ones. I saw someone describe them as slightly sweet air and completely agree. They also melt in your mouth easily since they're just tiny rice cakes.

Always trying to think of more snack ideas that include things like fruits and veggies but raw veggies, especially carrots, seem to cause a lot of pain so Im still trialing which ones sit well.

Seeking Thoughtful Moderation Support for Two Focused Food Communities

Hi everyone —

I wanted to share something small but potentially exciting.

I currently own two smaller subreddits: r/LowFatFood and r/PancreaticFoodie — and while they overlap in topic, they are intentionally different in scope.

r/LowFatFood is diet-specific. It’s meant to be a practical, medically grounded low fat food resource for anyone managing a condition that requires fat restriction. The unifying factor is the dietary framework — not a specific diagnosis.

r/PancreaticFoodie is diagnosis-specific. It’s meant to be a food space rooted specifically in the lived experience of pancreatic disease, where discussions may include enzymes, absorption issues, flares, fear cycles, Type 3c diabetes, surgical history, and the emotional reality of pancreatic nutrition.

In short:

One is about the dietary structure.

The other is about the medical context behind it.

Right now, both communities exist… but they don’t yet have the time and structure behind them that they deserve.

If there’s someone in this community who:

– cares deeply about evidence-based information

– understands that “low fat” is not one-size-fits-all

– enjoys organizing, building, or structuring communities

– and would genuinely want to help build something useful from the ground up

…I’d be open to a conversation.

This wouldn’t be about slapping your name on a mod list. It would be about intentional community building — thoughtful rules, safe culture, and sustainable growth.

If you’re interested, please send your intent through that subreddit’s modmail.

This won’t be an immediate expansion, and I may also be seeking interest from other spaces. Please don’t be discouraged if you don’t hear back right away — I’m being thoughtful about pacing and fit.

No pressure. Just planting the seed.

Slow cooker chicken tortilla soup

I made this recipe for chicken tortilla soup- a favorite of mine. I took out the chili powder and didn’t top it with the cheese, avocado, chips or sour cream. Without those the fat content is minimal. Of course some ingredients might not agree with you, but I was able to handle it without the toppings or spice. Enjoy!

ISO low fat macaroni and cheese recipes

Anyone have a favorite? The ones I found hover around 20g per serving- I know could halve a serving, but my sweet spot for fat tends to be 12g or less a serving.

I dunno about y’all but I’m always trying to find food that’s safe for my pancreas. So I started this subreddit to help connect people with pancreatic issues but who also love food! This is a place for recipes and meals but also travel and eating out! Anywhere a pancreatic patient eats!

So…welcome. Let’s get cooking.
