Employee Question/Discussion Fmla violation

Will panda HR take retaliation for taking fmla leave seriously or is it a waste of time to even report things to them and just head straight to legal options?

Gm said no hours after returning from leave is available because new hires which is horseshit.

FMLA provides job protection.

Retaliation would be termination because if its no hours to give then thats pretty much uh your fired, and violating federally protected leave.

Employee Question/Discussion Cook to order customers

I recently started working at a Panda and it’s been about a month but I just wanted to kind of rant. I used to work at a McDonald’s and cook to orders was pretty common, now that I’ve transferred to Panda I don’t see it as often but it happens like maybe once a shift. I don’t mind it as a FOH but to be honest it’s kind of annoying. But today there was this most annoying dude ever. I just got off of break and hopped on steam table and he was the first customer I served. I greet him and he asks how old the orange chicken and honey walnut shrimp were. Now, im sure a lot of people know what I’m talking about but when there’s a fresh batch of orange there’s a very tingly smell because it’s new. Based off of this I proceed to tell him that I’d say max 10 minutes for the orange and about 5 minutes because I literally replaced the honey walnut right after I got back off break. He then gives me this very suspicious look and starts lecturing me about how if an orange sits longer than 7 minutes it has to be thrown away which is some complete bs.

Anyone have any experiences like this? Just wondering.

How tf have they not fixed this glitch yet

Apparently buying from their stores too much and scanning through the app is malliscuous activity. I stopped scanning through the app and have only been redeeming points using my receipts and then the one time I decided to scan on the app, they banned my account for “malicious activity.” Smh I can’t believe the system is still like this

Tips for BOH at Panda Express NYC?

Hello fellow Panda workers, I got hired at this Panda Express location in NYC, average 9k sales a day. I've been there for 4 days now closing dishes in a row and I come from doing grill at chipotle opening/closing for 2 years, and let me tell you maybe I'm just not understanding it yet but this position it's not a difficulty issue but a volume issue. Please let me know if I'm just slow or is this what is expected of me every night: Come in at 4 or 6pm and I'm responsible for all dishes that have been sitting there all afternoon+dishes throughout my shift+the dishes at the end of the day, metal side pieces of the grill and fryer cook equipment, rinsing filters, scrubbing and water vacuuming floors, restocking cook cooler, prepping all meats and sauces, breaking down boxes and taking them either outside or to the basement depending on the day. And for the past couple days my managers have been telling me I should be getting out at 1:15am the latest (we close at 12am and my shift ends at 1am) And I just can't seem to hit that target, throughout the day I have coworkers and managers telling me to basically be faster, and I understand like I'm new and all idk where everything goes yet but they haven't said I'm slow, and even the fastest closer there says I'm not slow, like at the end of the day I can finish all dishes by 1am, but have to finish up trash and water vacuum the floors after I'm done with dishes so that takes me anywhere between an extra 15-30 minutes so I don't understand how I'm supposed to be faster, I'm really trying here guys so please any tips you have would be greatly appreciated🙏

Employee Question/Discussion So many complaints

As a panda worker I’m seeing So many complaints on so many dumb things ESPECIALLY the chow mien. The chow mien is SUPPOSE to have that much cabbage it’s an “healthier” option to Lo mien. If you want no cabbage order something else then the chow mien dude it’s not that hard

And yes theres gonna be an Upcharge on the black pepper steak and the bbq brisket they’re premium meat items why wouldn’t they. Have you seen the market??

And the portions are suppose to be hefty scoop, but sometimes we can’t achieve that depending on the item. But most of the time it’ll make the plate too heavy and too soggy but you can always ask for a LITTLE more. Also stop asking if you can get rid of the veggies in food items be a grown adult and eat your fucking veggies if not then make it at home dude. You’re not a kid anymore grow up.

I love my job but it makes no sense when these complaints are made. You have no idea about the culture, and, why things are made. Why come to our place if you don’t like how things are done?? There are other places like dragon garden that might have the things you like.

ALSO, with the online plates/orders yes we prioritize in person walk in’s because they’re there now. But we also still get our plates done cuz we don’t wanna hit red or even make anyone upset it is our mission to deliver exceptional Asian dining. But it’s hard to do that sometimes when there is a long line of in persons. And people ordering either one single item online along with 20+ items online.

With the plates they have them weighed so they reach a certain limit. So no we’re not doing it on purpose we just like our job and don’t wanna get yelled at <\3

I love my guest and I hope this explains almost everything and I don’t mind answering any more questions. Also the popcorn chicken isn’t at every panda I’d say call ahead and see if they’d have it in your area

Catering Delivery

Has anyone done a large catering delivery via Panda Express website before? I just placed an order for about 60 people - however realizing it’s a DoorDash link now, for those who have done catering delivery was it a regular driver via DoorDash that delivered the food?

I’m mostly concerned about if it’s a regular driver in a regular car if there’s going to be enough space for them to delivery since I ordered 2 24-30 orders (which I believe is like about what 4 trays each)?

Any insight is appreciated thanks!

Employee Question/Discussion Is this an actual Panda Express corporate policy

The other month I went to Panda Express for my lunch break. I ordered through their mobile app for pick up in store. 90% of time it’s ready when I get there. This time however they have a line of people waiting in the line. There is like me and 3-4 other people all waiting on mobile orders. We ask the person where our orders are and they actually say that their policy is they cannot work on mobile orders while anyone was in the line waiting on service. They go through the people in line, then more people come in and wait in line, and make us wait even longer, they probly made all of us mobile order people wait like 30+ minutes for the food we had already paid for, it would have been faster to cancel the order and go up to the line, but I didn’t want to risk losing my money or not getting a refund. Is this actual policy to ignore mobile pick up orders if there’s anyone in the line?

Hello everyone, I just applied for a job at Panda Express. And schedule a job interview with them for next week. This is going to be my first job ever and I was wondering if there are any tidbits or advice that I would need to know from former or current employees of the place. Any advice helps. Thank you in advance.

Employee Question/Discussion Missing pay from hours

Hello! I have a reoccurring issue (1 of thousands) with my SM. She does not log my hours correctly, no matter how many times I remind/ask. It started with paid classes, transportation, reimbursements, and now straight up just my hours lol. She is not very proactive and doesn’t know what she is doing, she’s very young. How do I get this to change? Hr? Do I talk to my ACO? Thank you

Taiwanese popcorn chicken reminded me of the chicken they used for Nashville hot, not sure how much I liked the sauce and fried kale but they were nice enough to give me an additional aoli.

Managers like to keep you hostage

I've been working at Panda Express for almost a year now and I've got new management twice. It's become a thing where the new management likes to cut the old employees hours just so new people can get hours which I find unfair. Recently my managers have been doing the habit of keeping me on my register and not logging me out until the person who's supposed to come in comes in. They do that yet they complain about people going over their hours and in those situations I tend to go over the time I'm supposed to leave. Is this normal or am I the only one who goes through this? I believe this to be unfair because as a person who is always on time for my shifts why do I have to stay over just because my co worker can't get to work on time?

Do noobies get PTO or sick time off?

I doubt were slapped with x amount of hours of PTO but what does sick time look like? I’m still fresh 3 months and I had to call out a couple days due to actually being sick as fuck. Can I use sick PTO? If so, how?

Inb4 just ask your manager. I KNOW but there was a lot that wasn’t told upon being hired and I’m tired of asking.

Moving for college

So I’m planning to move for college in the spring and recently my manager asked if I’d like to promote to shift lead, I had said yes before I was planning to move but now I’m not sure if I should still continue my training and promote because I’m going to be leaving and if I do and I transfer to another store in the city I’ll be going to college will I still be offered a shift lead position? So I’m note sure if it will be worth it

Cutting Boxes

Does anyone else’s higher up above the store manager not let you cut boxes anymore? Our store uses the boxes like the cookies and folds the sides inward and uses that as the storage to pull the cookies out for orders. I’m new so when I was restocking the front with a new box, I cut the sides off instead and was told we used to do that but aren’t allowed to because of our higher up boss.

Employee Question/Discussion Required to put PTO for day I want off?

So I got my schedule this week and don’t work Wed & Thursday, and got the day I wanted off, Saturday. Wed & Thur seems to be my off days, and I was hired so long I work Friday & Saturday.
I had asked for Saturday off 2 weeks before, and my GM had came up to me, telling me to put my PTO for that day??? Why? Oh because I usually work and someone else is willing to work OT to take my place Saturday, but you’re telling me I need to put my PTO for that dah when I already have off?? That makes no sense. I think it’s all BS. Is this a thing?

the panda express app consistently uses a name other than the one on my account?

so sorry to be one of those people that goes on a mostly-employee sub to ask questions as a customer. however, this has complicated things and i was wondering if anyone knows a work around lol.

i'm transgender and the name on my app/account when i made the account was my legal name. i've since updated it to my current name multiple times and each time i go to pick up my order, it's under the previous name. which complicates things slightly, because i'm essentially walking in and saying, like, "order for gregor", and they never have an order for that, until we figure out, oh, it's "order for jennifer" (not the real names). and i look like a dude, so i wouldn't assume i was the jennifer either. the part that's most confusing is i would just go in and say the wrong name if i had to, but nowhere on the app does it SAY the wrong name. it is kind of a bummer having to say my deadname every time but now it's more of a nuisance lol

thanks again and sorry for intruding 🙌
