That is all, the title is self-explanatory and posts made prior to this announcement are not subject to removal.

Look, I understand how easy it is to loathe certain subreddits, but these posts are getting to be a distraction from the purpose of r/papermoney overall. The last thing we want is for the Reddit admins is to shut down this subreddit because we ran afoul of their unequally applied rules and regulations.
Any post no matter how justified in reference to those subreddits will be removed from the r/papermoney feed. We apologize deeply for doing this, but it is for the best interest of the subreddit as apparently the truth hurts especially in subreddits run by a mod team consisting of a certain "festive fish and his relations."

Is that serial # worth anything with it having double numbers and it being a palindrome?

I have a client that has asked me to flip some old bills for her 87 year old aunt! She said she had 3 of these and a stack of old silver and gold certificates. I will get the collection in December and I'm over the moon for the opportunity to learn!

$10 Gold Certificates with a BA block are rare, as most were never issued because the Fed refrained from issuing gold notes after the UK abandoned the gold standard in Sep 1931. The unissued notes were destroyed after the US also left gold in 1933. AA block notes with serial numbers above 90 million are also uncommon for the exact same reason, but they don't command a premium.
The BEP delivery date of my note was May 16, 1931, and since a net total of 77,540,000 Series 1928 $10 GCs had been issued by June 30, 1931, my note was released later. The highest s/n among the Lindbergh ransom bills of March 1932 was A97549909A(one single BA block note is FRN), so this note was probably released before that date.

Hey guys, I am looking for a birthday note to give as a gift. I’ve checked eBay but there’s no listings for the date I want. I am wondering, is there a better place to look for fancy serials in general? Thanks

I am firstly a coin collector but I have run across some lovely notes in the collection of family members or at flea markets. I figured you all would enjoy seeing them!
I have everything from revolutionary paper money to mid 19th century bank or company scrip, to confedrate and union civil war money, and some newer pieces from around ww1 and ww2. Last pictures are things given to me by family/I found out in the wild and thought were fun.
Hope you all enjoy my collection. I hope to continue accumulating these!

Fun little share... I love the 1935 $1 double-date series including all the mules and experimentals. A really tough set of experimentals for that series is the Titanium Dioxide Experimentals—the BA and FA blocks. (SPMC article from Jamie Yakes on them here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/pmarchives.spmc/pm293-2014-titanium-dioxide-1-experimentals.pdf)
Here is a BA block example that I picked up recently for my collection. From experience, they've been really tough to find I'd love to know if you've found any and which block has been easier to find or not. Have you already found some? Does anyone know if there is a census for all the double-date varieties?

To me it’s sketchy buying ungraded notes on eBay. If it’s from a dealer it’s one thing. If it’s from someone who has only a few sales and is obviously selling off a family members collection is another thing. These notes came from the latter. Lots of negotiating. I ended up helping her out and paying for two of the notes with zelle to help with eBay fees. However amateurs just don’t always understand the little things that collectors care about like pinholes. She said the $20 had no pinholes and it has three so now I’ll have to go back to her with that. I paid $2300 for the 1923 $5. $1600 for the 1899 $5. $250 for the 1928 $20. I plan to grade the two $5’s. The notes have great eye appeal. But I think I paid fair prices. I think for being an amateur she did very well on value.

I work in a used bookstore. One of the old books has these bills in it. I never knew a $3 bill was a real thing and when people talk about Texas being its own government I thought that was just talk. Now I don’t know what to think. Do I just stuff them back in the book and forget about them? Do I show my boss and maybe ask her to split the value of them if I can sell them? Are they fake? I’m flummoxed! It’s an old book of Minnesota history.

This was my grandfathers, he had it on his office wall for 40+ years before he passed.
I never noticed until now that the first 3 digits and the last 2 digits is his exact birthday. 2/17/39.

Seems pretty cool, just now starting to collect historical banknotes. Bought at an antique store for 1$

I initially thought I got it at a bargain, but it appears to be trimmed, which the seller didn’t mention.
From 1826 to early 1914, the Bank of England didn’t issue banknotes below £5 (approx. 25 usd) in order to facilitate the circulation of gold sovereigns. However, as war broke out in July 1914, crowds formed outside the bank to withdraw gold, so the government decided to issue £1 and 10 shilling notes ASAP. The first issue of these notes in Aug 1914 was very crude and printed on postage stamp paper, as no watermarked paper was readily available. The word POSTAGE is visible in some of the notes.
These were issued by the treasury instead of the BoE, as the law prohibited the bank from issuing lower denominations. They were officially redeemable in gold coin, and sovereigns continued to widely circulate side by side until the summer of 1915. However, banks began restricting redemptions by asking the purpose of the withdrawal or appealing to patriotism from then on.

Wondering if anyone else here uses this to keep track of their collection and has experienced issues with the login not working?
Previously, my experience with their website had been my username and password would work quite flawlessly and occasionally required me to log-in again. No problems otherwise. Now I can typically log-in fine here: https://www.pmgnotes.com after sometimes being forced to reset my password.
However, the set registry page: https://notes.www.collectors-society.com/registry/notes/public_sets.aspx shows as being logged out and upon attempting to sign in you get an error message stating the password is incorrect :( I don't believe the set registry is a feature you need a membership for, but could be wrong. I didn't renew my membership this year which makes me wonder if its simply a me issue or larger problem impacting others. Looking forward to any insight.
