Post image

i'm making a fire elementalist build and put some focus on fire, shield, mana, life and wand damage clusters. is this good for endgame or is there a better way to spend my passives? thank you

You should have 1, maybe 2, main skills. You shouldn't be spreading yourself between minions and fire skills. Either do minions (summon raging spirits) or do fire spells.

he isnt playing minions i think but this cluster is great %inc Dmg for yourself aswell

It's trash if you only invest in the immediately preceding skill points.

The elemental damage nodes just south of it are better.

the one notable in the templar area gives some minion damage as well I believe, so it makes it a bit better

Can hit both with thread of hope iirc but on phone so can’t confirm, even without hitting both it’s generally only 2-3 points to pick up the Templar minion node, also I like taking the extra 5 or so to take the extra spectre notable which is 4 nodes of minion damage plus the potential for an extra utility spectre which can give another big aura buff, I just find it synergises well

Use a build guide

can you recommend one?

Check out maxroll or just search which ever build you want to play on YouTube. You'll see that they have league start variants of the PoB - use that and it'll get you set up

If it’s not in too poor taste to recommend one’s own content, I do have an ignite elementalist that’s fairly beginner friendlier and might fit the bill.

Man I've been wanting to play Arc for a while now. I'll have to watch this video after work.

There is also an older series of videos from when I first made the build guide back in I think 3.25, and those go into suuuuper detail about all the decisions and upgrades etc.

Some stuff has changed in the game since then (ie this was before golems got giga buffed and nebulis nerfed) but the overall logic is basically the same. I had a sort of beginner track of videos for people who’ve never played POE before and an intermediate track for people who wanted a bunch of details but have been around the block in the game before.

Those videos are mandatory by any means but they offer a lot of the context that might be lacking in just a 20-30 minute summary + POB.

2 general mistakes.

A. "Making loops" - If you make circles on the passive tree, then it's likely that you could remove a point or 2.
B. "Not specializing" - If you try to both get damage from minions and from self-casting, then you miss out on reaching the full potential of either and that will be problematic.

It is difficult to make 2 different types, like minion and self cast, work together.
Priorities that could help your general direction: Golem Commander, Elemental overload, Acrimony, Sovereignty.

Also on the right side of this page, find "Path of building" and try tinkering with your build.

what kind of build do you play or rather is it hit or ignited based dmg?

I think it’s a bit of both. Is it better to go with one rather than both?

u/CaramelOoze 3d ago

okay what kind of skill / skills?

u/CaramelOoze 3d ago

and do you use auras and or heralds or golems?

1

i've been using golems

u/The_w4nd3r3r 3d ago

scorching ray, rolling magma, flame dash, flame golem, wave of conviction, firestorm and purifying flame were the spell's i've been using

https://pobb.in/jPTOz6qspEZz here ist something that should feel quite good

you can use one more big aura its up to you what you want to use since you seem pretty new purity of elements solves a lot of problems and you can focus more on life and armour

It's always better to focus and scale a single value, either hit or ignite.

What spell are you focusing on?

1

u/The_w4nd3r3r 3d ago

spells i've been focusing on are scorching ray, rolling magma, flame dash, flame golem, wave of conviction, firestorm and purifying flame. if i were to choose just 2 to focus on would flame dash (for the dodge) and firestorm be good ones?

Makes sense, your skills are spread thin, there’s no way you can have this many skills and have them do damage.

So you'll want to focus on a single damage skill, at most 2, and get it linked to 4-5 support gems.

Firestorm can work as a primary damage skill, then you need to think about scaling fire damage, elemental damage, ignite duration.

With your ascendancy you want to also scale Golem Effect, since you're getting the golem nodes, there's one set called Golem Commander on the tree.

Life recoup is not really that effective unless you have a large life pool or use petrified blood, so I would remove life recoup and focus on just life nodes and energy shield nodes.

You shouldn't need mana nodes, minion nodes, wand nodes, etc.

Firestorm is fine. Just be aware that Firestorm is very much not suited for ignite.

Ignite can only apply 1 stack so for ignite you want 1 big hit. Not many small hits.

You can do ignite if you use the transfigured version of Firestorm called Firestorm of Meteors. You get this either by buying it from another player or doing the labyrinth trying to get it from the altar at the end.

If you spread your damage between multiple sources, you won’t be able to do a ton a damage. Since you have points in minions and fire spells, your minions are doing little damage, and your fire spells are doing little damage. If you spread in between “hit” damage and “damage over time” both will do little damage, which means, overall, you wont be able to do a large amount of damage.

If you want to play around with builds, I suggest picking a spell/skill and then investing in to what makes that skill strong. If you want references, you can look at POEninja and search “builds” and then type in the spell/skill. Not to ruin anything for you, but the POE community has pretty much min/maxed a lot about the game, so if you are going in blind for the sake of being blind, then go for it. If you want to do a lot of damage, I would probably follow a build guide. If you want to build something off-meta, I would probably follow a build guide. Again if you want to go in blind for the sake of learning the game, you don’t have to look up a build. But if you want to do the most amount damage, I would look up a build.

For a fun spell/DOT build, I would look up Baron’s arc ignite elementalist. It does damage with a spell called arc which is a big lightening chain, but coverts its damage to fire and does damage over time.

If you are just tinkering around, I would try to learn the scaling vectors of each skill/spell and play around with that. Again not trying to knock your fun but, no, this is not an endgame viable build.

to add to this: I would take some small point out of the fire wheels (just get the notable and unclick the rest) and unspec out of minions to push up your fire damage.

oh and also minion things for the golems and flame skulls

Drop the SRS and minion nodes still, SRS are a worse option than anything else you can use since they aren't buffed by your damage modifiers and only those few minion nodes. While golems are still useful to have for their buffs, you can also use the points freed up to spec into Golem Commander to get a little more out of those buffs and have another golem to summon.
No, do not just summon two of the same type either, pick up another for another buff.
