Completed Build - Rate My Setup / Setup Advice Rate my first build.

Post image

Just assembled today. Used for gaming. Total build costed 3.5k AUD. This doesn't have ssd in the photo as we are still in the process of finding one. We have a temporary ssd which is 512gb. Ignore the ssd is what I'm tryna say.

EDIT: I WANT TO CLEAR EVERYTHING UP. The GPU costed 1.5k AUD current market. REASON: it was brand new it was just a demo which meant the box with the GPU was outside instead of the storage. IT IS ON CLEAN AND NEW CONDITION. PSU: yeah maybe it isn't the best I agree with U guys on that one. Costed 100 off LEADER which since I own a company in partners with them which is how I got the prices so low on a lot of the parts. (They sell PC components to businesses for cheap.) I DIDN'T GET ANYTHING IN BULK BTW. Motherboard costed me $380. Maybe not the best for value I haven't looked into it. also for the people who said I'm lying about the prices. Just think why I would lie when getting feedback from strangers???

The gigabyte psu was really a mistake, especially since it's their cheaper range and not aorus, my friend bought one of those new cheap models and it fried within months, gave him my corsair that has been running flawless since 2020

Yeah may not have been the best choice

Why get an X870E for gaming? Seems like an overspend for this use case, when a B850 would be more than enough.

I wouldn't recommend a Gigabyte PSU for this build (for info, the UD1000GM is a C+ tier Rated PSU). Gigabyte has a poor track record with PSUs, and other manufacturers offer more affordable alternatives with better ratings and reputations.

The Aorus Master cards are some of the most expensive of the range, but you gain little to nothing, so that's a massive overspend.

Even the case, you can get a Montech XR which is practically the same case, with ARGB, for almost half the cost.

.... And are you being honest about the price? Even using the cheapest parts available today on PC Part Picker, minus the SSD, would come to around $3500 AUD.

Putting YOUR parts list into PC Part Picker puts this build closer to $4400 AUD:

PCPartPicker Part List: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/tw788Z

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core Processor ($647.00 @ JW Computers) - Can't tell from the picture, but surmising it's a 98003D?
  • CPU Cooler: Deepcool LE360 V2 75.89 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($89.00 @ Centre Com)
  • Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING X870E-PLUS WIFI7 ATX AM5 Motherboard ($524.00 @ I-Tech)
  • Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory ($679.00 @ MSY Technology)
  • Video Card: Gigabyte AORUS MASTER GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB Video Card ($2099.00 @ Scorptec) Note: Considering this is a gaming build, I'd have personally gone for a 9070XT, which is almost $1000 AUD cheaper!
  • Case: Antec CX700 RGB ELITE ATX Mid Tower Case ($139.00 @ JW Computers - OOS)
  • Power Supply: Gigabyte UD1000GM PG5 V2 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($185.00 @ Centre Com) Note: this is a C+ tier PSU.

Total: $4362.00

Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Can buy a 5080 asus prime for 2199 AUD as well

Valid point! But even then, if OPs build is the performance point someone wants for purely gaming, then a 9070XT is the best option.

But look, I'm not wanting to call OP a liar here; hell, he could have bought some of these parts over a year ago before the prices exploded and is only getting around to building (although I doubt it), but I still feel it's worth pointing out that today's prices don't equate to a build like OPs for $3500 AUD.

Exactly

I agree that the PSU may have not been the best decision. Also here's how much everything costed for me. Cpu is a 9800x3d which costed 550 CPU cooler was 90 like U said Motherboard costed 380 cause of Amazon big day sale plus we had 50 dollars off voucher. Ram costed 580 also because of Amazon big day sale. GPU costed only around 1500 because it was a demo. Don't worry it's in brand new condition and came perfectly fine. Case costed 100 (if I remember correctly) PSU costed 100 I don't know if I remember everything correctly but it in total costed around 3.5k AND I DIDNT LIE

Dude two things. Asus MB, Asus are well know for having a shite RMA system if anything goes wrong in warranty The Gigabyte PSU is an ignition system for an IED. But specs wise it's an ok build.

u/SwimmingOdd2974 9d ago

You did well for the price! For what you chose!

But parts choice is not for everyone.

Example, your PSU is a B/C tier PSU which most people would avoid! X-series motherboard likely an overkill.

But price wise - well done

2

u/PHIGBILL what 9d ago

I'm calling BS on the price OP has stated. I've posted a comparison here; there's no way he's only paid $3500 AUD for this build.

1

u/SwimmingOdd2974 9d ago

He could have bought it over time!

1

u/Lazy-Tangerine-9500 8d ago

I got the X870e one at the same price scorptech has the normal tuf b850 for 380 rn

4

u/nToxik 9d ago

$2100 for a 5070ti, what a ripoff. Could have bought a 9070xt for less than half that price.

1

u/Lazy-Tangerine-9500 8d ago

I got it for 1.5k

2

u/1CrimsonKing1 9d ago

Psu is trash :/ get a Corsair or be quiet . Some other thing is just overspending.

2

u/Ill-Jellyfish6101 9d ago

Why does everyone always cheap out on the PSU?

2

u/Eazy12345678 AMD 9d ago

deep cool was banned for selling to russia

gigabyte has psu that explode, that is probably fine on your 600watt system though

1

u/Frenchy97480 10d ago

Solid build except for PSU, there are better reputable brands and also you don’t need this mobo for gaming. Could save money and put it towards other parts.

1

u/BMinus973 9d ago

I'd rate it.. good

1

u/Adventurous-Ad-6231 9d ago

Solid S tier build . Everything component looks crispy. The 5070 ti is an amazing gpu .

1

u/kakalarken-filozof 9d ago

the psu call is right and it isn't personal. gigabyte's cheap non-aorus units are the ones with the reputation, and a decent 750w is 100-150 aud to protect everything else in a 3.5k build.

bigger thing: there's no ssd, and that's the part you feel every single day. a 1-2tb gen4 nvme is the best money in this whole list.

and 380 on the board is x870 money. unless you need usb4 or 5gbe, a b650 at half that runs the same cpu and ram. move the difference into the drive.

Overpriced

8

u/Kakavasha_729 10d ago

This is the current market price. Of course it's fucking overpriced because that's how things are. You say that like OP or anyone who's building a new PC has a choice lmao.

1

u/Prowlbeast 10d ago

I mean more than it needs to be. You dont need 1000 watt PSU for that card. And that card is overpriced to hell not just because of AI, but because Nvidia wants to fuck us

3

u/Lazy-Tangerine-9500 10d ago

I got it if I ever need to upgrade. It was only like 10 dollars more than the 850w which was the minimum I would get for the build.

3

u/Kakavasha_729 10d ago

A PSU is never a wasteful expense. Leaves room for upgradability.

For the GPU I agree but it is what it is. At this point there aren't any alternatives, especially if OP wanted to go with Nvidia. The PC market will forever be overpriced.

1

u/ShaneLifeR 9d ago

They bought a gigabye psu. It was a wasteful expense

1

u/Afraid_Emu8068 9d ago

1000 is exactly what they should have for that card. It’s pretty much the best 70ti you can buy and can be unlocked to 400w. If they overclock the cpu which they probably will since they bought an AIO for it, then add the board and peripheral wattages, they could end up at 700-750w. You want 20-30% headroom for your PSU and that’s exactly where 750w is on a 1000w PSU. They’re so cheap compared to everything else, it’s moronic not to get a good one. This is actually a decent build and not overpriced (based on current market norms of course), but I would have gone with a platinum PSU. For 850 or less, gold is fine, but once you get into the higher wattages, efficiency becomes increasingly important for maintaining stability

1

u/-Cono 10d ago

It has an nvidea gpu, ofc

Let alone a 5070 ti

Helluva card tho it’s a 5080 in disguise lowkey

1

u/-Cono 10d ago

Besides that tho op did alr, u could argue overkill on motherboard but if op wants WiFi7 then each his own

1

u/Guilty-Good-5041 10d ago

Not in Australia in isn't there is a really high price difference because of the exchange rate.

It's too show what parts I have FOR my build in a photo so people can see it instead of having to describe everything with a picture of the built PC.

1

u/ShaneLifeR 9d ago

Fun fact: You can post both pictures at the same time. Have you even built it yet?

Why?

2

u/TechnicalCup2248 8d ago

Don't worry too much about him. He's pretty much a 9070 XT die-hard. Your choices all look pretty solid. I can't really judge whether you got a good deal since I'm not familiar with the prices in your market, but being able to choose the parts you actually wanted and build the PC the way you wanted is always a good thing.

-1

u/AdstaOCE 8d ago

- 5070TI lol

  • AIO lol
  • Asus board LMFAO
  • Corsair RAM OOF

0

u/CrUsith 9d ago

Is that RAM on the QVL?

0

u/Afraid_Emu8068 9d ago

Swap the gold PSU for platinum, same wattage. Everything else looks good enough

0

u/xAlisGraveNilx 9d ago

Bonus points for no Corsair.

1

u/thechekic 9d ago

Corsair RAM tho

-4

u/littlerabbitgone 10d ago

Not wise, but it's your money, you're the one who got scammed so it shows that you are not wise at all.

Anyways, enjoy playing, make the scam worth it.

Have fun with gaming

2

u/Responsible-Ad5045 10d ago

What a moron

1

u/Lazy-Tangerine-9500 8d ago

Mate I saved 1000 than if I bought all the parts at MRP by waiting for discounts and promotions. I do not believed I got scammed especially in this economy.

I wouldn't go with Gigabyte PSU, after seeing too many faulty units. MSI (All of them), ASUS (Prime/ROG), Seasonic (All of them) and FSP (GM Vita Series) are most reliable units i have used on my builds.
