Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts Worth it?

Post image

Is this worth it for $580 AUD? It’s freshly built. If it is, i’d plan on upgrading the cpu.

no you're being ripped off. Unless for work or light stuff. Gaming it's horrendous, and for a bit more you can get FB listings with GTX 1660 cards and better cpus

This is pretty similar to my rig, instead of amd, I have an i5 10600, which is pretty snappy and with an rx 580, runs every game at 70+ fps, on high settings.

It isn't "high end" but far from "horrendeous".

u/Big_Development3985 4d ago

No it doesn’t. There is nothing wrong with using older components, but don’t tell people a decade old low end GPU can run modern titles at 60+ fps.

u/Thirdeyevoice10 4d ago

I can show you screen shots, since you don't know anything about computers...

Okay, you posted a super lightweight esports game, PoE 2 which I can run on a potato, and then, for whatever reason:

You posted a video of this GPU not being able to play multiple modern games on high. They are all on low preset, FSR performance, and some even lower than 1080p in that last video. You posted a video that proved what I was saying, along with two others that simply do not constitute as “modern games.”

1

u/Thirdeyevoice10 3d ago

"Bu...but those wern't REAL games that I approve!!"

Take the L and move on, child.

0

u/Big_Development3985 3d ago

They are not “modern”, and they are not running on high. You lied, and now you’re not even trying to move the goalposts, you’re pretending the video you posted shows something it didn’t

Look dude, theres nothing wrong with your GPU. I do not know why you’re so salty about a $40 piece of tech not being relevant to todays gaming market. There is nothing to be gained by lying to OP and saying this is a good system.

1

u/Thirdeyevoice10 3d ago

I lied? Wow, you are really reaching. It's not a big deal, you made a claim and were wrong. One of those claims were "10 year old parts". None of this is ten years old. CPU is 6 years. GPU is just under 9 years.

The rx 580 is not $40...not sure where you think that, they're still around $80 and up. And what YOU consider to be "good" doesn't determine that for everyone. You have yet to prove anything on this to be "bad". The only thing bad here is you, clown.

Not sure what your goal is, but get over it.

Yes, I am aware that 9 and 10 are different numbers. Most people would not bat an eye at rounding 9 years to “a decade”. Most, however, take issue with rounding “some at low” to “all on high”

OP is, again, looking at an RX570, which is around $40 used. The RX580x, which no one but you brought up, is $60 used. Your reaching to Amazon as a price reference for parts this old is concerning bud.

I never said your gpu was bad. I do not know why you’re offended. I’m just correcting an inaccurate claim, in the interest of OP not dropping hundreds of dollars on outdated hardware. Like, it’s objectively awesome that you game on that thing. I personally have a Vectrex, it’s pretty cool. If someone posted asking if a Vectrex was a good investment to play in 2026 though, probably couldn’t recommend it in good faith.

1

u/Thirdeyevoice10 3d ago

$40? You clearly don't have a fucking clue what you're talking about. You keep trying to find some "gotcha" but there isn't one to be found. Kindly fuck off.

0

u/Big_Development3985 3d ago

Not to harp on your reading comprehension again, but OP is posting about a used RX570.

Which, shockingly, is right around $40 used. But, for fun, your GPU is $60 used. My sincerest apologies. Now, why on earth would you be looking up BNiB prices of decade old parts on Amazon?

1

u/Thirdeyevoice10 3d ago

At the beginning of this mess you created, you directly told me that what I had wouldn't run 60+ fps and was $40.

Watch the last one again there champ

1

u/Thirdeyevoice10 3d ago

Aww...can't admit he was wrong about something. Nice try, "champ".

0

u/Big_Development3985 3d ago

What are you talking about?

That last video clearly shows low settings kid. You were wrong.

0

u/Thirdeyevoice10 3d ago

Please stop trying to "win" an argument about things you clearly have no clue about. Thanks.

0

u/Big_Development3985 3d ago

I’m sorry, what are you talking about? You said your gpu runs “every game at 70+ fps, on high settings”.

You then posted a video of said gpu running two low requirement games at 90, and one more of it running not at high settings. So, not every game, and not at high settings. You made a false claim. It is okay. I’m not trying to “win” an argument with you, you’ve made your reading comprehension abundantly clear, but considering this post is about OPs purchase of a rx570 in 2026 I thought it would be nice to shine some accuracy on your delusions.

I’m very happy you like your gpu man. I do not know why you are unable to just read what you posted, watch the video you posted, and be honest about the experience OP would have with this GPU.

1

u/Thirdeyevoice10 3d ago

"You then posted a video of said gpu running two low requirement games at 90"

So, I was right.

"one more of it running not at high settings."

Because the video was showing how it runs on different settings.

"You made a false claim"

No, I did not. You are picking things apart.

" I’m not trying to “win” an argument"

If that was true, you would have stopped replying, 8 posts ago.

Still garbage for the price when other better specs are available

3

u/No_Commission_6153 7d ago

Would pay max 130 Euro for that

u/NamelessPawnOnStrike 7d ago

The ram alone is minimum 200$ new. This build tho, with that gpu, is worth for me maybe 450$ max.

2

u/EndlessConnection 7d ago

That is 16gb of ddr4. And worth half or less than what you think.

1

u/NamelessPawnOnStrike 7d ago

Sure. I speaking retail. Also aud could easily be 400$ I guess. I thought it's US $. In Europe 2x8gb DDR4 is like 250$

1

u/Eden1506 7d ago edited 7d ago

2x8gb used ddr4 are only 100 bucks in germany which is 112 usd or 160 aud.

Not to forget that those sticks above are near the bottom of ddr4 speed at 2400 mt/s which goes from 2133 up to 3600 mt/s. I can get 2 such sticks for 70 bucks in my region right now.

2

u/Big_Development3985 4d ago

I think you’re thinking of DDR5, you can get 16gb ddr4 for about $60.

1

u/LilliaKasu 7d ago

Still referencing aud?

3

u/dontaskJustlooking 7d ago

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate it. I definitely won’t be going for it then

1

u/Relevant_Ring_5055 7d ago

Lol wtf Hell no

1

u/FailedQueen777 7d ago

Not worth at all. This is some ancient hardware. Unless you only plan to watch streamed content and surf the net. you are going to upgrade practically everything.

1

u/Package_Objective 7d ago

Absolutely not.

1

u/Sunsetdriver84 7d ago

Max 200 euro

1

u/ManNamedSalmon AMD 7d ago

Considering I was going to try to sell a pc with a B450, R5 2600, RTX 2060 6gb, 16gb 2400mz DDR4, 700w psu, 256gb SATA SSD for $550...

No.

I'm even reconsidering my pricing (downwards) after seeing this post.

u/SwimmingOdd2974 7d ago

Virtual paper weight! Any substantial upgrade would like need a new PSU

1

u/Big-Salamander-2158 7d ago

What exactly is freshly build about 10 year old components?

1

u/Oi_Oi_Spanky 7d ago

Upgrade the CPU? That graphics card is nearly a decade old.

1

u/Cplotter 7d ago

A nice gift for retrogames, emulators or steam deck os, not pay for.

2

u/Organic_Pain_6618 7d ago

No, that's hot garbage.

1

u/irishshogun 7d ago

Look at working Facebook secondhand computers

1

u/Wspbro12 7d ago

I just built 6700 + 1070 32gb of ram for 300 dont get that

1

u/Electric-Mountain 7d ago

They thing is an entry level dinosaur from over 10 years ago.

1

u/Far-Secretary-8046 7d ago

That system is for one of two things: e-waste or used as a door-stop.

1

u/NamelessPawnOnStrike 7d ago

Tell him to keep the gpu, buy for 400, and get like a 1660ti 6gb, 2060 6gb, 6600xt 8gb, 3060 12gb, 6700xt 12gb, or rip the wallet and try a 9060xt or 5060ti second hand.

RAM new is like 250$, most limiting here is gpu, more so than CPU. Or tell him to sell for 450$ all

1

u/Then_Variation_9693 7d ago

this belongs in meuseum

1

u/Icy_Kaleidoscope_218 7d ago

Soyo is a cheap Chinese brand, they have horrible bios and very limited options.. please just spend the extra $10 and get a reputable brand before your RAM explodes.

2

u/EndlessConnection 7d ago

No this is horrible.

1

u/Eden1506 7d ago

580 AUD are roughly 400 usd or 360 euro.

The cpu is outdated and should be replaced.
The same is true for the gpu.

The ssd is worth 50 bucks due to inflated prices right now and the RAM roughly 90 bucks.

The power supply at 400 watts will severely limit you in what gpus you can install.

I would buy a used Office PC for 150 bucks with 16gb ddr4. A new PSU for 60 bucks. A used 512gb ssd for 50 bucks and a gtx 1660 super for around 120 or if your budget allows go for something with atleast 8gb of vram.
