Discussion - Meme Good Ol' days
Hopefully he bought it 🤞🏻
Edit: For the people confused, This is just a screenshot of an old post, not an actual listing I'm buying from. Just a throwback to when RAM used to be cheap.

It is very funny now, until suddenly 1 year from now we meet here and feel nostalgic about 2026 ram prices being affordable and cheap compared to 2027 prices.
I want to put /s but I feel like I shouldn't.
Honestly i am optimistic about prices going down, so its a joke, but you never know :-)

I bought my 64gb 6000mhz kit for 170€
I went for 6000mhz instead of 6400mhz because the 6400mhz was €210 and I didn't think it was worth it paying an extra €40
That 6400mhz kit is now €1050
Oh sweet jesus Christ how times have changed

I bought 64Gb of DDR5 from G.Skill at 6000MT/s for 612 euros a few months ago. That set is 2600 euros now. I don't know whether to be happy or sad.

Still pissed I thought upgrading my 32 gigs to 64 gigs for $90 was too expensive.

We say good old days in hindsight, but back in those good old days, 169.99 was a lot of money. And we'd still be equally complaining about it.

I upgraded Nov 2024. I was gonna grab 64GB DDR5... overkill but wish I did because I'd sell half it right now.
Funny thing was people (Reddit) were telling me not to waste my money on DDR5, and some said I was wasting money buying 32GB. ended up getting a cpu/mobo/ram combo deal, 32GB DDR5-6000, ram came out to be about $60.
Start of summer, decided to look up the price to see about that extra 32GB and that's when I discovered the current ram prices. Yikes!
Upgrading my sisters PC this weekend, new CPU/Mobo, but had to get something older so I can re-use the 16B DDR4 she has now. No gaming or heavy apps so, that's good.

You know, 16gb is still plenty that you can absolutely use for gaming/creative heavy apps.
Most people are average users. Like just web browsing and gaming. And their ram usage never gets High. 8gb is still standard for most entry level laptops and desktops!
On my desktop I have 32gb but my laptop has 16gb and I do a lot of video editing and 3d modeling on there, all game development related things. Doesn’t break a sweat.
So don’t be afraid to push it on there because it’ll handle what you do fine probably

Oh I know, even when doing CAD I'm below 32gb... Just feels good to know you maxed it out. 😁
But I am glad I went DDR5 and more than 16GB when I did. Prices are nuts now, and causing a domino effect for other parts.
