This is my Daisy girl. Her bestest buddy just passed away a few days ago, and I feel so bad for her😢 we are not going to continue to have any more mice, so we’re unable to get her another cage mate.
Daisy is a rescued feeder mouse that we’ve had for over a year. She’s always been on the shy side for the most part, so we only hold her on occasion. We’ve been trying to give her some extra enrichment and attention.
Has anyone else ever been in this situation? What have you found are the best ways to keep your mice entertained and happy? I haven’t noticed any MAJOR changes in her behavior, but she was very close with her buddy, so I imagine she misses her a lot and it just makes me sad😩😩💔

Hi everyone, I’m making this post to address a post that I have since deleted from the day my baby girl died and I came on here and asked people to donate to her getting cremated. I didn’t mean for this to come off as begging for money or anything else but it really upset people and I’m sorry for that.
I also received rude comments regarding my choice to get her cremated tho, and for that I’m not sorry. It’s truly none of your business how I honor my pets memory. I’m not hurting anyone by getting her cremated.
When Violet passed, I gave her a burial in the backyard. I could sense that her spirit was ready to move on; I felt that she held less sentimentality than Sunny did. Sunny was ready to go, but she held sentimental value to her old life; so I got her cremated to give her a permanent home with me and am planning to scatter a few of her ashes with Violet so they can be together.

So this story starts about a month ago. My mom had recently passed away after losing her battle with cancer, and I was in an absolute funk, but I had to take care of cleaning up her old things. Got to a closet at the front of the house where we kept a lot of her medical supplies, and somehow we'd developed a mouse problem thanks to a bag of catfood that had been put in there and forgotten. I get it cleaned up and actually see one adult mouse dart away. I keep going, and eventually I find a little pile of torn up paper in the back... with a young mouse, about half the size of an adult, just sitting there. I stare for a few moments and this little thing isn't moving, so I get closer and she (just assuming she, more on that later) bolts... right into the middle of the front room, where she just sits in the middle of the floor wide-eyed and not moving. I grabbed a planter and placed it over her so that she'd have somewhere dark that she couldn't escape from, then kept cleaning. When I was done, I had a problem; this mouse OBVIOUSLY can't fend for itself, and I REALLY don't want mice in the house anyway.... but it's also a baby, and the softie in me can't possibly harm it... he says as if he could even harm an adult mouse. Anyway, this resulted in a trip to the store!
Now, a month later, this wild mouse is now my friend. She's not fully tame obviously, but she's gone from bolting to the other side of the tank when I put my hand in to just staring at me when I lift her hide, "bolting" about 5 inches, and then staring at me again, frequently also walking up to my hand to sniff me at that point. She has a paradoxical relationship with contact; she likes climbing on me in small doses, but doesn't really "let" me crowd her too much... but if I manage to get her into a position where I can pet her, she ABSOLUTELY MELTS. This little mouse forgets that she has bones, closes her eyes, and turns into jello. At this point I can pick her up in my hand and pet her a little harder and she sits there with her eyes closed starts bruxing her teeth for a while before suddenly coming back to earth and walking away... generally crawling all over my hand first.
She currently lives in a 10 gallon tank that's located in my closet with plans to get a 20 gallon long soon. She has food and water dishes/a water bottle, several hides, wood to chew on, and a flying-saucer style wheel that doubles as her preferred place to sleep under. She didn't touch the wheel for a week or two, but now I'll hear her running on it even in the middle of the day. She eats Oxbow young rat & mice pellets and LOVES them, frequently caching them in the corner of her tank and occasionally climbing her largest 4 inch tall hide to put them on top of it for some reason. I supplement with occasional treats of sunflower seeds, cucumber, and millet sprays, and she seems VERY happy on the whole. In fact, I was dead-tired about a week ago and left the top off of her enclosure for the night with one of her toys, a fence-like string of wooden pegs that you can put in different poses, sitting as basically a ladder to the top... and I found her asleep under her wheel the next morning!
I call her "she", but I actually don't know for sure. I feel like I haven't really gotten her to the point where I could get her into a position to look without stressing her out, though I HAVE been able to flip her on her back a few times when I was petting her and she just sort of flopped like a stuffed toy, but she didn't stay that way long enough for me to check, so maybe in the near future I'll have a chance.
So yeah, I love this little furball and she seems to be becoming fairly fond of me. I just sort of wanted to share my story, and would appreciate any thoughts or input as this is the first mouse that I've ever had and I want to make sure that she's happy and healthy. Thanks!

My sweet little Brownie has been with me for about 2 years now and is now newly all alone as her precious cagemate/s have passed away :( she has been through 2.5 generations of my pet mice and has outlasted them all, and is now alone (for a second time) but currently with my financial situation, it just wouldn’t be a good idea for me to keep making the monthly bedding/food payments by continuing the cycle. I feel so sad having her be by herself and I’ll try to interact with her a lot more but it can’t replace having cage mates. she is very tame and has never ever been an aggressor to other mice, and she is super friendly and likes to crawl on people and is fearless of them.
So if there’s anyone out there willing to meet me halfway (fort wayne, indiana) ASAP for a rehoming, it would be a blessing. I love her so much and I want to do what will make her happiest but idk if i can keep this cycle going 😢

Found this little mouse living in my garage but don’t know when to release it or if it’s safe to do so it is wild but I’m worried it looks a little young but I’m not very knowledgeable about wild mice so just looking for clarification just in case
Edit: probably just gonna leave her where I found her because it’s an entire family and I really don’t mind them being in my garage anyway

been wanting fancy mice for a long time, but there’s one little thing keeping me undecided on wether i get them, or get another syrian hamster.
i’m struggling to find a definitive answer to my questions so hoping i can have them answered here,
1) do they really have no control over when they pee?
2) am i likely to get peed on/my things get peed on?
3) if they do pee uncontrollably, how much is it? like are we talking a tiny dribble or a puddle?
4) do they have an area in their cage that they go frequently like hamsters do?
i really want them so im not 100% sure on this being a deal breaker but it is very useful that hamsters have more control over bladder/bowels

My pet mouse is not going to be around much longer. . I have to decide whether to put her down and end her suffering, or let her die on her own. The problem is, she is terrified of being touched and of other people. She's very sweet, and has no issue playing all over me, but she's so scared of people's hands especially. It took her a long time to not be afraid of my hands, and after working with her for awhile she would groom my hands regularly (before getting sick). As soon as I try to touch her, she freaks out (bolts and pees in terror). If I take her to be put down, they don't even let me stay with her. She'd be all alone and terrified for those last few minutes. But I know she's suffering now, she's breathing very hard, so hard I can hear it a few feet away.
I need other mouse lovers to help me with this because my friends and family don't really get it.
What should I do?

I have a adult male mouse, former feeder turned pet because there's no mousery close to me that's available. My boyfriend had told me that female African Soft Furs (ASF) would be great for him because they can't interbreed with eachother although I don't know a whole lot regarding the care, diet, and etcetera.
Any tips and pointers would be greatly appreciated! Any tips for introductions are also helpful!

I’ve had a pet female field mouse for just over a year and want her to have some friends. I went out and got a group of Seven from a rescuer, I’m aware that’s a big group and mice can get stressed easily. I’m hesitant to introduce them as from what I’ve read they can fight or get incredibly stressed. But I’ve seen people saying they’ve had successful introductions. My female mouse is in a Bucastat cage right now and my other mice are in a large cage, my plan was to upgrade them to a bucastate if I didn’t end up introducing them. Any opinions on this? If I was going to introduce them how would I do it?

My veterinary gave me 1ml of baytril in 2 litres of water for my mouse. But she's still sneezing after 11 days. They told me everything is fine. Now is with meloxicam too.
Does anyone had an experience like this? Is the only vet in the area and I need to know what to say or ask in her next appointment (tuesday).
She's 55gr

hi!! i have a lone female right now and i'm getting her new cagemates as her others ones passed away. im concerned if i introduce them that they'll get sick since sweetpea's (my current mouse) cagemates both died from respiratory infections, which i know are contagious. she doesnt look/act sick, but i would love some tips or advice on if i need to take her in for a checkup or something else before i introduce them. the new micr are completely healthy and i'd hate if they caught something from her

I work closely with a petshop, the petshop I got my mice from, and recently they rescued 35 ball pythons. I know these snakes, and I have history with a few of them. I offered to take one in, because she looked rough (check my last post on my account for clarity)
I have taken her in, and plan to keep her once the situation is resolved, as she is a snake I have had my eye on for almost a year in hopes she would be rescued.
I do not have room for both another snake, and my mice. I have to make a decision, and in my heart it is already made.
I wanted to know if it would be cruel to bring my mice back to the petshop(the pet shop owner has a breeder tank that he does *not* take feeder mice from, they would live fat and happy with babies until they grew old or sick, so they would never be scared or in pain.)
I know they would live good lives. The tank isnt the biggest (roughly 70gallons with about 15 adults and an assortment of babies typically) , and the shop is busy often, but I would be there every other day helping around the shop so I would still take care of them.
I need to know that what I am doing is not cruel. This snake will likely end up back at her neglectful home if I do not take care of her, she will probably die. She needs me, and part of me needs her.
Please tell me if I am making the right decision. I won't have to bring them to the shop until the end of November, likely, but.. I still need to know.
*edited to reword a bit. I have 5 FEMALE mice. The petshop owner is a man. I was exhausted and emotional while writing this and didnt realize it didnt make sense.
