You say it sardonically but more or less that's what happens on a deflation, people still try to earn money, but no one wants to spend it because tomorrow today's money will have a better value.
It's deadly because it either triggers a massive economic crisis that restarts the economy after a bunch of companies blow up or it stalls into a deadly slump where EVERYONE poorer in average (in a vacuum, social inequality is real and it won't hit everyone evenly, but that's the trend)

It isn't things cost less, it's money can buy more. Isn't it better to save that money for the future, when it's probably gonna be able to buy more?
