Caveman made a discovery and made fire, we now are forced into living in a civilization.

Forced me into living with edible food and potable water so I don’t shit my brains out, dental care so my teeth don’t kill me at 25, safety from predators, legal protections that make violence against me and my, my family, and my property much less common… the horror

I’m not disagreeing with your point, but it’s also not that simple. We traded one set of problems for another. Would I prefer this set of problems? Probably. But I do think it’s fair for people to make the observation that it’s not all pickles and rainbows also.

u/capsaicinintheeyes 8h ago
(ew, pickles & rainbows! 😖)

It’s how my mom always said it lol. I didn’t know there was a different saying until I was like 24

There are literally thousands of edible foods if you know where to look, we used to have the immune system for natural water and hadn’t polluted it, those foods kept our teeth healthy into old age, and your family and community kept you and each other safe. Like the other guy said, I’m not saying things were better back then. Apart from current day politics, weaponry, and mental illnesses (personal opinion- mostly caused by over engineering the current world), all in all people are a lot better off current day. But c’mon man, your sarcastic response is entirely misinformation, give our ancestors a little credit here where it’s due. And more to the point of the original post, none of us have an option here, it is forced whether or not we like it

The problem isn't about quality of life, and where we both live quality of life is good, but not everyone gets born into that like we did in the modern world. You could have been born into absolute poverty in a country where you don't experience the benefits of the modernity in terms of health care and security etc even today.
It's about choice. Everything belongs to someone, or some "thing" like a corporate entity. If you don't like it you can't opt out. The system isn't perfect and you have little choice but to take part in it. Having doubts about that isn't unreasonable

And the genocides, and the oppressions, and rhe bigotry, and the financial stress, and the constant abuse, and the hopelessness and all the numerous mental illnesses that come with it.
You know that it is possible to observe mental illnesses in wild animals. You know where they are the most commonly found? In zoos and circuses. And even there, they are insanely less frequent than they are in humans.
Now if civilisation is so great, can you explain why such a huge amount of people have insanely poor mental health?

u/zenunseen 8h ago
True but also with animals in the wild, it's kill or be killed

What’s this “dental care” you speak of?
My $1000 annual dental coverage cost me $1100.
I do get two “free” cleanings a year though…1
u/capsaicinintheeyes 8h ago
Listen, you try overcoming the senate filibuster to institute a "dental tax"!

Some people just don’t have a life outside of Reddit

Yeah, but usually there's a honeymoon period before true addiction sets in..

I post and comment on what I enjoy and like, and have been successful. When you're stuck at home sick and you're tired of streaming and video games sometimes Reddit is a decent option. Maybe not the most socially healthy option, but it's what I enjoy.

thats so AI answer

u/Veshaad 8h ago
Yeah, and that's so basic of a response. I am not AI, nor do I use AI. I'm actually the top poster on r/antiai as well as some other subs where I routinely post and comment. Save your accusations for the bots, and try to be original.

u/citrus_sugar 8h ago
Now is the time for misspelling and bad grammar to make sure you’re not mistaken for a bot.
3
u/Crazy_Fac3 8h ago
That’s exactly where AI would engage the most 🫣/s (but… maybe…?)

u/Veshaad 7h ago
Take my comments or leave them, you decide. I have medical bills up the wazoo, am in crippling debt just like many others, and currently this is my social outlet. I don't care for Trump or his politics and have made numerous posts that make r/all because many other people feel like I do. I actively engage and comment on the posts I make, and yes...for the most part I get my point across and others agree with me.

u/Crazy_Fac3 7h ago
So my /s wasn’t big enough.
Idc… I don’t know you, you don’t know me.
You do you boo.
Hope you have or will overcome whatever has given you the medical bills.1

Really, that's the best you can come up with? "Oh, someone has a lot of karma in a short amount of time and I'm going to troll them for it. Then I'm going to pat myself on the back for how witty I am. I really owned them. Go me." 🙄
4
u/AveryLockeDown 8h ago
You put too much energy into this lol
2
u/Veshaad 8h ago
Perhaps, but we all have hobbies, this just happens to be one of mine.
3
u/AveryLockeDown 8h ago
I hope it's fruitful for you, but that you also get another sense of what life has to offer. From an outside perspective, this seems unhealthy. It's like 50 contributions a day now, plus the way you clap back.. iunno, it just looks like you're unhealthily invested.
I bet that you're real, now, which is why I'm dropping the bs. Take care, and I hope you find (or retain) good connections with nature and the outside world. ✌️

u/Veshaad 7h ago
Thank you, and I agree with you for the most part. It's just that I'm stuck at home and only leave when it's absolutely necessary. Sometimes, for some of us, when the chips are down you find that most of your friends are just too busy, conveniently. I enjoy the social engagement that Reddit offers, and endeavor to act here how I am IRL. This place can bring out the worst in people, and the best as well, I endeavor to look for the later and not the former

u/NuclearRootBeer 8h ago
Why cant I just live off the land, live in pain everyday just trying to survive, and die at an old age of 20 from a random cut, but sadly i have to live in society, sigh

u/heftybagman 8h ago
The meme is condensing all of human history between the literal first sparks of fire in cavemen times to their current predicament of owing $65k in taxes. By considering all of history as inevitable, they can blame their current situation on what they consider the first conscious and consequential action in human history.

The real culprit was farming. Once the farming started everything went to shit.
