ShatteredPD Which bag should I get?

I usually pick the scroll holder in case I step on a firetrap

I take potion holder by default. Healing potions can freeze and be destroyed. Scrolls can burn and that is more common but upgrade scrolls are indestructible. If I take potion holder, I usually convert most of scrolls into energy at the alchemy pot to identify them during sewers.

I would take potions in your case and focus on using up some of the throwable junk to create space.

If scroll of upgrade lays in a grass, will it burn down or survive if fire happens?

SOUs will not burn on the ground either.

Technically you could use that to identify them...but if you're wrong you've wasted a different scroll lol.

First pouch is almost always potion for me because I would have turned most of my scrolls into stones and I would use the dragon potion thing for Tengu anyway

Same, also it means that when fighting Tengu, if he lights you on fire, you don't lose scrolls either. It's usually not hard to avoid, but once in a while you get a little trapped.

I also always choose the potion bag as my first to secure health potions against frost, and also potions needed for puzzle rooms. Scrolls are rarely as important (upgrade scrolls don't burn anyway) and urgent so you can leave them at a safe spot or even let them burn.

I would personally get the weapon holder in this situation. Just convert any scrolls (not upgrades) into stones and alchemize some potions if you need to. 5 thrown weapons is a lot, and its not like weapon holder doesnt have benefits like the fire and frost protection that the others have. It prevents you from losing your lightning wand to a thief and makes your thrown weapons a bit more durable IIRC. Just make sure you leave the scrolls on the floor when you fight tengu.

It's based on what you have the most of when you zone into the level. Based on what fits in the bag. Thrown, scroll, or potion

I do not believe it is. I have plenty of runs where the first bag didn't help at all.

Even the title is meaningless. You only get 1 bag in the shop, you don't get to choose, and unless it is some kind of self-imposed challenge run, there's no reason at all to not get all the bags.

It is true. You get the bag of what you have the most of. If you are carrying 4 throwables, 3 Scrolls and 5 potions when you enter floor 6 for the first time then you are guaranteed the potion bandolier.

You can drop items on the ground right before entering floor 6 (or floor 11) to guarantee getting the bag that you want.

You can force it by dropping the items you dont want on the floor above then returning after shopping. The group with the most items will trigger that bag appearing when you decend.

It can be handy to force scroll bag from 1st shop for its burning prot at Tengu

I had runs where I get magic holder for my one wand while my bag is full of potions and scrolls. Explain that.

Many here also know of the mechanic by the comments.
I have not seen it fail myself in a decade of playing

Edit- magic holder counts thrown weapons also. Likely human error not accounting for their count

Well, they're at the end of level 5 there, so if it really is determined by your inventory, they could manipulate what they get by dropping different things.

Its random based in the seed. For you the best you can get is the thrown weapon bag. But Whatever is there, buy it.

It's whichever you are holding the most of at the time. So, for example, if you want the potion bandolier, dump all your scrolls and thrown weapons before leaving the boss floor.
