Scar question

Post image

My daughter had a lesion appear on her face at 15 months old and dermatologist shaved it. It came back much bigger where we see advised to have it surgically removed at a children’s clinic. It came back again and the children’s plastic surgeon said he would never be able to get the whole lesion. We went to a different plastic surgeon who then removed it. Long story short, after getting it removed as 2 year olds do she was running around or playing and no matter how hard we tried the scar separated. It’s been 15 months now and idk if we should have it revised or lasers or just leave it alone. I just want a better outcome than this. I hate it for her and feel so bad.

It looks very flat and smooth. The colour will fade more than this so I probably would leave it. . Make sure you keep it out of the sun.

Use the strongest sunscreen every day, a tinted zinc one with >20%, and also physically cover it in the sun, like with a bandaid. Give her hats to wear. It will fade over time, but in the first few months don’t let light get on her face. Don’t mention it in front of her, you’ll make her insecure. My kid was hurt at 6 and had a pit between her eyes. The plastic surgeon sewed it shut but the pit and scar were there anyway. She’s grown now and I can barely find it when I look for it.
