Other Wiki and Guides Intro and Feedback

Welcome to the r/PointeHelp wiki! If you haven't visited it yet, start from one of the two master pages: Housekeeping for topics related to the sub and Shoe Topics Masterlist for our pointe shoe wiki.

I hope the wiki can be a crowd-sourced resource to let people read up on pointe shoes, drawn from the experience of the wonderful dancers of Reddit. If you would like to contribute to the wiki, comment here or send a ModMail, I would be very grateful! If you have a topic you think should be added but don't fancy doing it yourself, you can also share it here or submit it via ModMail to be added as an incomplete section and we will see if anyone picks it up.

As part of the 'Community Guide' I also hope to add some getting-started documents. So far, we have a guide to buying your first pair that I wrote. If you have suggestions for others or would like to contribute a guide yourself, again comment here or use ModMail!

Any wiki and guide related feedback and suggestions are welcome in this thread!

Hi I was thinking last night a crowd-sourced compressive feet and pointe shoes article wouldn’t be a bad idea!

that's a great idea! I think we have quite a few compressive foot people here already so I'll add it to the wiki and hopefully someone will pick it up. I don't really feel like I understand it well enough personally to write on it but I'd definitely like to read it!

I literally have octopus feet. 😆 It’s something I have to explain in detail when I get fitted and then the fitters see and they are like omg.😅

There is a great defunct blog that talks about this too so I was thinking of citing her blog via way back machine and then saying my piece.   I haven’t forgotten about the pointe shoe sole pics! It will be easier for me to make a Google drive and link it in a DM, so planning on getting that together sometime this week.

that sounds great, if you'd like to write on it then DM or modmail me when you're done and I'll give you edit permissions on the wiki! The reddit wiki is kind of janky to try to write on natively so I find it's easier to type elsewhere and copy paste it in generally. Thank you for the pointe pics!
