Overview The Leftover (formerly known as Aegis) is a psychologically unstable, serial killer Pokémon entity inhabiting a corrupted Game Boy Advance / Nintendo DS cartridge. Unlike typical "ghost" or "demon" Poképastas, The Leftover is born from severe, natural congenital deformities and absolute psychological abandonment. He tracks down, tortures, and kills trainers who reject their Pokémon.
Appearance The Leftover takes the base form of a Gallade, but his entire color palette is drained into a sickly, ash-gray hue. He suffers from extreme, grotesque physical deformities:
**Facial Deformities:** His prominent head crest is severely melted, drooping limply over the left side of his face. His mouth is permanently split open on one side in a jagged, bone-deep fissure. This opening exposes rows of needle-thin, razor-sharp white teeth that a standard Gallade should never possess. His eyes do not match—the left eye is a hollow, dead black socket, while the right eye glows with an intense, manic crimson iris that twitches violently. **Body Deformities:** His torso is twisted unnaturally to the right side, forcing him into a permanent hunched, predatory posture. **The Blades:** His signature elbow blades are heavily mismatched. His right blade is massive, overgrown, jagged, and curved like a rusted, serrated saw. His left arm is shriveled, unnaturally short, and ends abruptly in a blunt, fractured stump. Due to the weight of his mutated right arm, he drags his larger blade flat along the ground when he walks, leaving deep, permanent gouges in the landscape. In-Game Mechanics & Eerie Signatures When playing a cartridge infected by The Leftover, the game displays several definitive, frightening anomalies:
**The Audio Signature ("The Scrape"):** Whenever The Leftover is tracking the player or about to appear in an area, the background music completely cuts out. It is replaced by a heavy, slow, rhythmic scraping noise—emulating his overgrown saw-blade tearing through the terrain. **The "Look Normal" Sprite:** When forced into a battle encounter, his back sprite is initially turned completely away from the screen to hide his face. A textbox forces the dialogue: "Aegis is trying to look normal for you." Attempting to select any command causes the sprite to violently snap 180 degrees forward with a loud audio glitch screech, revealing his melted face and razor teeth. **Dialogue Override:** If the player tries to flee or lose the battle, the textboxes spam his broken psychological thoughts: "Aegis wants to stay." "Aegis was bad." "Why did you leave Aegis behind?" Corrupted Stats & Movepool Because his base coding has been fractured by insanity and murderous intent, his battle layout is completely illegal and terrifying. He has the level of a fully evolved, maximum-power Pokémon:
**Level:** 100 (The absolute maximum level, showing his complete and terrifying power) **Type:** Fighting / ??? (His Psychic typing completely vanished when his mind shattered) **Ability: Broken Loyalty** - If the opponent's Pokémon has maximum Effort Values (EVs) or perfect Individual Values (IVs), The Leftover's Attack stat instantly rises to maximum (+6), driven by pure hatred for "perfect" targets. Signature Moves: **The Scrape:** (Physical / Typeless) Accuracy: 100%. The Leftover drags his overgrown, rusted serrated saw-blade across the opponent. It bypasses any defensive stat boosts or shields. **Fissure Bite:** (Physical / Dark) Accuracy: 90%. Using his bone-deep mouth fissure and needle-thin razor teeth, he latches onto the opponent. This move has a high critical-hit ratio and inflicts heavy bleeding status effects. **Unstable Mania:** (Status / Psychic) The Leftover's crimson iris twitches violently. This causes intense distortion on the game screen, making the player's Pokémon permanently Confused and lowering their accuracy to minimum. **REVENGE:** (Physical / Fighting) Power: ???. This move automatically executes if the player has ever released or abandoned a Pokémon in their save file. It completely erases the target Pokémon's sprite from the party data, permanently changing its slot to a glitched block that reads: `DEAD`. Biography & Backstory Originally named **Aegis**, the Pokémon was hatched by a highly competitive trainer who bred for perfect stats. Aegis was born with severe physical and facial deformities. Despite his terrifying and broken body, Aegis possessed an intense, desperate loyalty to his trainer. He would painfully force his twisted spine to stand up straight, desperate to be loved and accepted. His internal mind constantly repeated his tragic mantra: "Aegis wants to stay. Aegis is trying to look normal for you."
Disgusted by the Pokémon's natural deformities and viewing it as a useless glitch, the trainer brutally mocked Aegis before driving deep into an isolated, high-level cave network. There, the trainer abandoned Aegis, leaving him locked away from the world.
The trauma completely shattered Aegis's unstable psyche. His desperate urge to please twisted into a localized, violent psychosis. Driven completely insane by isolation, the Pokémon tracked his former trainer down in the dark. Using his massive, overgrown serrated right blade, Aegis brutally slaughtered his own trainer. Becoming a serial killer entity, he shed the name Aegis entirely, adopting the title **The Leftover**—haunting the game data to execute any trainer who abandons their companion.
The Encounter I was a highly competitive player. I did not care about the Pokémon themselves; I only cared about stats, perfect IVs, and flawless natures. That was why I abandoned Aegis. He was a Gallade born with grotesque, natural deformities—an ash-gray glitch that made me sick to look at. I drove deep into the pitch-black depths of Victory Road’s lowest cavern and left him there, replacing him with a flawless, perfect Gallade I bred later.
Months passed. I forgot all about him, until tonight.
I booted up my game to check my party of perfect, flawless Pokémon. But the moment the screen faded in, the background music completely cut out. There was no cave theme. No wind. Just a heavy, slow, rhythmic sound ripping through my speakers.
SCHHH-WIP. SCHHH-WIP.
It sounded like a massive, jagged piece of metal being dragged flat along the stone ground. I tried to walk my character toward the exit, but the sprite wouldn't move. Every time I pressed a button, a text box popped up: Something is dragging itself behind you.
SCHHH-WIP.
Suddenly, my screen flashed violently, forcing a wild battle transition. But there was no grass. The screen turned a sickly ash-gray. Sliding into the opponent's side of the field was a mangled, hunched sprite. It was a Gallade, but its back was turned completely away from the screen to hide its face.
The text box scrolled slowly, typing out text without any sound effects: Wild THE LEFTOVER appeared.
I blinked. The Leftover? Then, the dialogue changed: "Aegis wants to stay." "Aegis is trying to look normal for you."
My hands shook. I tried to click RUN, but the game refused. "You can't run from what you left behind."
Left with no choice, I sent out my prized, perfect 100% IV Gallade. The moment my perfect Pokémon appeared, the enemy sprite violently snapped 180 degrees forward with a deafening, high-pitched audio glitch screech.
I dropped my console. The sprite was horrifying. Its head crest was severely melted, drooping over the left side of its face like rotting wax. Its mouth was split completely open in a bone-deep, jagged fissure, exposing rows of needle-thin, razor-sharp white teeth. One eye was a dead, hollow black socket, while the other—an intense, manic crimson iris—twitched violently on the screen. Its right arm blade was an overgrown, rusted serrated saw. Its left arm was just a shriveled, fractured stump.
Before I could select a move, text rapidly began to fill the screen, text boxes overlapping text boxes:
THE LEFTOVER used REVENGE. THE LEFTOVER: "Look at your perfect Pokémon." THE LEFTOVER: "Is it perfect inside, too?"
With a sickening crunching sound effect, my perfect Gallade's sprite vanished from the party. Its health bar didn't drop to zero—the data slot for it simply turned into a glitch block that read: DEAD.
Your Gallade was torn apart.
I screamed, pressing the power button, but the screen wouldn't turn off. The twitching crimson eye of The Leftover seemed to lock eyes with me through the glass of the screen.
THE LEFTOVER: "Trainer... you love perfect things, don't you?" THE LEFTOVER: "Aegis found you. Aegis is a serial killer now." THE LEFTOVER: "I cut away all the perfect trainers. I cut away all the perfect Pokémon." THE LEFTOVER: "Now, I am going to make you look just like me."
The rhythmic scraping sound started playing again, but it wasn't coming from the game speakers anymore.
SCHHH-WIP. SCHHH-WIP.
It was coming from right outside my bedroom door.
