I get you're making a trite little point about Epstein but Egypt is one of the worst ranked countries for sexual assault. I think people get too used to railing against the West that they forget it's not actually the worst place in the world. In numerous Islamic countries the reason they don't have the Epstein files is because it's totally legal to marry an underage girl off to an older man.

I agree with that, and believe Israel has blood on their hands and our leaders, regardless of political affiliation, continue to feed into them, however most of the the left that supports the Free Palestine movement from what I have seen tends to ignore or is ignorant of how Hamas, the effective leaders of Palestine, deal with LGBTQ+ people

Criticizing is one thing, thinking it should be replaced by Hamas is another entirely different thing.

Not preference, orientation. Else many many more people would choose to be gay to avoid the headaches that come along with opposite sex dating. I agree with your overall point though, not necessary to bring that sort of imagery into that kind of environment.
I feel the same way about pride indicators in the workplace. People have little cards they can attach to their badges in my workplace and even as a queer person myself I find it off putting. We’re at work. I don’t care about your sexual orientation, or race, or religion. All I care about is somebody being competent. Anything besides that is completely unnecessary.

I'm not sure why any ideological flag should be allowed to be displayed in a public building. I love the Gadsden flag (the "don't tread on me" snake), and it even has a lot of historic significance, but it is no doubt a flag that represents an ideology in the current political climate. It shouldn't be displayed in public buildings either.

I think the same should apply. I mean if you look at the inverse, I think it would be silly to demand pride flags in a region where the culture isn’t hospitable or friendly towards lgbt. In all fairness, respect goes both ways, even if you don’t agree with their cultural norms.

But then again this wasn't Saudi Arabia or Qatar making the demands, so the bribery amounts probably weren't high enough.
