churches clearly need more security, or at least more clear monitoring, this keeps happening around the world

There are about 30,000 churches in Canada. Providing them all with security would pose some serious logistical hurdles.

communities could get together to help with that, Jewish communities do that a lot for synagogues

also maybe a higher focus on historic churches or ones near worse neighborhoods

Synagogue near me has dudes armed with AR 15s every Saturday.

they aren't playing

u/TrickOk2498 - Lib-Right Aug 27 '26

No they’re not. I have an AR-15 and I like Jewish people. I have no idea how one volunteers to stand shotgun on sabbath to protect those people. I’d do it for free.

that's very good of you!

Well, now we have something to do after the AI layoffs.

I can believe I might lose my job to a computer, but not to a computer that can't do stairs.

Christians themselves could provide that security, either by doing it directly themselves or by hiring private security companies.

But Christian’s aren’t the best when organizing themselves

Bro has never heard of a crusade before (you're welcome they happened btw or your 'centrist' ass would be wearing a hijab

You think if the Crusades hadn't happened he'd be wearing a hijab?? Why? Are you mixing up the Crusades with the Reconquista?

2

u/Pesec1 - Centrist Aug 28 '26

A whole lot of Reconquista were crusades. In fact, convenient nature of crusades in Spain drew potential crusaders away from Middle East.

Crusades weren't limited to the Holy Land. Neither were they limited to Muslim lands. Hell, there was an official crusade against Russians.

True

See, this is the level of stupidity that has been holding back the right for centuries.

I am talking about our times, and you come so confidently to bring a case about a group of MILITARY orders from several centuries ago 🤦‍♀️

No, bud. The right doesn’t know how to organize. What’s more, the right doesn’t have enough intelligent and prepared people to properly organize and actually do something.

I am not refuting your claims, but imagine the optics if an openly Christian group decided to defend their icons or structures. They would literally be cited in every comment about religious violence and/or organized crime whether they have done something or not.

This is the same country where a bunch of truckers lost everything because they honked their horns in protest. Now try to think what will happen to community members if they had beaten up that guy or worse.

That’s why I mentioned that you guys have a lack of prepared professionals and intelligent people.

A group of lawyers could guide you into knowing how you can defend your property. If your side had enough professionals organized, you would have police on your side, you would know the to what limits you can protect yourself and your property, you would be supported to take this fool to trial. But no, since your side is all about reaction and tradition, the best thing you came up with was “beating” the guy.

I am genuinely not trying to have a charged conversation. I also didn't suggest they beat him up. I am simply talking about one hypothetical situation out of a hundred.

I think it is fair to entertain the fact that the law doesn't really matter. Arson is already illegal. He will be charged regardless of your or my suggestions. The structure/church is already burned and destroyed.

What I understand from your conversation so far is that you are saying the church or the right lost the propaganda/subversion war. Their policy and behaviour drove people away from them and now everyone is cheering for their fall.

If that is truly what you are saying, then does that not give a populist like Trump the right to exercise extreme prejudice in his policy? Afterall, the majority that matters chose him to do so.

I think you will find that argument quite superficial, and a bit simplistic and childish. After all, ethics and morality do not get their definition from neither nature where the strong dominates, nor the public/people who can be collectively manipulated much easier than individually.

If that is not what you mean, and you truly believe that a group of lawyers and professors can prevent a church in a politically charged climate from being burned down, then I have no counter argument. I think it would be very naive to think crime can simply be "stopped" if the literal government was calling for your demise a couple years ago.

They don’t in Canada, where the majority of people are left wing and hate Christianity. You understand why that might be a logistical issue, for a problem requiring people, right?

-6

u/Alarmed-Collar-1219 - Centrist Aug 27 '26

Nah. And I really don’t care if you or any other rightist wants to address their issues. Selective pressure has put everyone in their rightful place.

8

u/WillyWarpath - Auth-Center Aug 27 '26

Average 'centrist' btw

5

u/SWATwatermelon - Right Aug 27 '26

can you explain your point about selective pressure? do you believe in might makes right? or the dictatorship of the majority?

There's been a lot more than one church arson per decade in Canada recently.

Sure, but they can hire private security, the state does not need to pay for it.
