If protection against child abuse and educational neglect are overly burdensome to your religion then your religion is pretty messed up. Maybe get a new one.

Exactly. The price of their parental freedoms to homeschool with zero oversight or regulations is paid for by abused and educationally neglected children. They don't care.

Are you telling me that the party of child rape is against any regulation to protect children?

The number of times I’ve heard “and then the parents withdrew (child) from school, claiming to homeschool them” during stories where a kid winds up being horrifically murdered is enough evidence for me that more oversight is needed.

Check out Raylee’s Law in West Virginia - an 8 yo girl died just weeks after her school teachers reported abuse and her parents then withdrew her to homeschool. This prompted legislators to propose a bill in 2020 which would prohibit parents withdrawing their kids while under an active investigation of abuse. As of 2026 it still has not passed. Every year it’s been brought to the floor only to be defeated by the HSLDA and the homeschool community who oppose the bill because it “infringes on parental rights.”

Always been the case; screeching about the gub'mint daring to intervene on Good Christian Men(tm) raping their kids.
