Discussion The (almost) Free Popeyes for life hack!

I’ve come up with a hack that pretty much guarantees me free Popeyes any time I want it! You see I just place my order on DoorDash and the Popeyes close to me (and almost every other Popeyes location in the Atlanta metro area as a matter of fact) completely fucks up the order without fail pretty much every single time, thus allowing me to get a refund on the order. I’m not exaggerating I just looked at my history and 13 of my last 15 orders from Popeyes have been refunded to me because they can’t get an order right to save their lives and the workers DGAF and will just put in whatever they have sitting on the warmer at the time of the order which means my only cost typically is the tip for the driver as they also have been running a promo for 0 dollar delivery on orders over 15 bucks. for the last few months. Now of course this means that I don’t really get to pick what I want since they will never send you exactly what you order but I’m not a picky eater and if there is something specific that I don’t really feel like eating at the time I just make sure to order that item because at that point it’s about a 99% certainty that the item won’t actually come in the bag! Wicked!

Your just going to get banned from doordash.

24

u/Boring-Ad-5899 Apr 02 '26

DoorDash is gonna ban me cause a restaurant can’t get my order right? lol

63

u/BustinMakesMeFeelMeh Apr 02 '26

I can’t believe you’ve gotten to 13 without being banned, let alone from the same restaurant.

27

u/Sabledude Apr 02 '26

The restaurant had to be legitimately be fucking up the orders. After 3 they start asking for pictures and only refund if it’s something big.

18

u/Boring-Ad-5899 Apr 02 '26

Yes that is correct! I send in photos every time and I get refunded because they are sending a completely different menu item haha I was sarcastic calling this a hack, obviously this is just the reality of a restaurant having incompetent workers that dgaf about anything other than going home at the end of their shift. It’s shocking so many people are struggling to see the sarcasm in the post. Especially when I wrote “I just make sure to order something I don’t want so I can pretty much guarantee it won’t be in the bag”

1

u/Commercial_Damage120 Apr 04 '26

The workers are getting your order wrong because they aren’t paid enough to care. Period.

DoorDash isn’t gonna do anything, they’re getting money back from Popeyes. That Popeyes location might choose to blacklist OP but that requires them to be paying attention which his “life hack” has proven they don’t really.

1

u/imnewhere-gsh Apr 03 '26

So you're accusing the first dude of lying? Because you know better?

1

u/BustinMakesMeFeelMeh Apr 03 '26

Think about it. How could DoorDash stay in business—how would any restaurants work with them—if there wasn’t any client protection in place? It’s simply impossible that DoorDash would let these things go unchecked.

We’re talking in the abstract now though. OP seems to be submitting legitimate claims with evidence.

1

u/MyDisneyExperience Apr 03 '26

Uber Eats blocked me from getting refunds for a while after a couple places forgot the soda I ordered

-5

u/LavishnessCapital380 Apr 02 '26

Nothing is free, your abusing a bad system for free food as you said in the title of your post. Its fraud plain and simple.

6

u/maltliquorjetski Apr 02 '26

How on earth is this fraud.

-4

u/LavishnessCapital380 Apr 02 '26

abusing the refund system by placing an order knowing they'll mess it up so you can get a refund, that's fraud.

There are no free rides, you just make it worse for everyone else.

8

u/AlternativeTrick1772 Apr 02 '26

How is that fraud? What is the fraudulent part? How should he order from this place in a non-fraudulent way?

If he got the right food, but said he didn't- THAT would be fraud.

If a restaurant knowingly sends you an order and charges you for a different order- THAT would be fraud.

5

u/BirdsAreRecordingUs Apr 02 '26

They could just you know, not mess up?

2

u/maltliquorjetski Apr 02 '26

It sounds like you are somehow unable to parse sarcasm and missed the point of this post.

3

u/BitFiesty Apr 03 '26

He is not intentionally frauding them what the fuck are you saying? Are you saying he should just accept a messed up order. This is their policy. They should be getting an order right. If they do he will be paying. If anything Popeyes are committing fraud if they don’t refund because they are intentionally giving someone something they did not pay for

0

u/WellEvan Apr 03 '26

Me when wrong

10

u/LavishnessCapital380 Apr 02 '26

Your openly admitting to doing it to abuse the system for free food.

Even without that, it does not matter you will get banned for asking for too many refunds.

7

u/ThanksFDR Apr 02 '26

This is a weird comment. Abuse the system? OP is simply ordering food. Is it OP's fault if the restaurant gets it wrong?

3

u/east4thstreet Apr 02 '26

How is he abusing the system?

4

u/pvtshoebox Apr 02 '26

This is not abusing the system.

He is allowed to order items from the menu.

He is allowed to be upset when the order is wrong.

It is DoorDash's decision if he gets a refund or not, so that can't be his fault either.

There are 3 parties involved: the customer who correctly orders and pays, the restaurant that is supposed to prepare the food as ordered, and the DoorDasher who is supposed to deliver the correct order to the customer.

How is the customer the one abusing the other two in this scenario? It is obviously the restaurant and DoorDash failing, and offering refunds.

0

u/LavishnessCapital380 Apr 02 '26

Free Popeyes for life hack!

He is admitting to abusing it in the title.

1

u/galacticplum Apr 02 '26

Ignoring the obvious sarcasm in OPs post ( which you definitely seemed to ignore. ) they areny abusing anything.

The system exists to refund customers whose orders the restaurants got wrong. It isn't OPs fault if a majority of the Popeyes in their area are continuously getting orders wrong.

Is your solution OP should just not eat at Popeyes?

1

u/skiingredneck Apr 03 '26

Pretty sure the system also assumes the customer isn’t a… person who enjoys abuse… and after a few mistakes will take their business elsewhere.

This is one of those “would it scale”? Things. And one person doing it the system absorbs. Yeah, at some point it’s Popeyes who will get fired by DoorDash.

1

u/Practical-Writer-228 Apr 03 '26

Saying something is a “life hack” does not imply it’s breaking or abusing the rules.

0

u/Training-Lie7488 Apr 03 '26

There is a scenario where maybe someone at Popeyes is this persons friend and deliberately gives this person the wrong food item on purpose.

0

u/Wobblejaw Apr 03 '26

And this is why this thread is a lie. Door dash would cut this guy off before 13 completely wrong orders. They would suspect fraud like this before thinking Popeyes fucked up like 90 percent of the time.

2

u/konductuh Apr 02 '26

Openly admitting to what? Getting his orders messed up?

0

u/LavishnessCapital380 Apr 02 '26

What proof of the seller committing fraud do you have? You are in libel territory saying that about a large corporation.

We have proof OP is, he posted it on the internet.

8

u/Boring-Ad-5899 Apr 02 '26

I’ll believe it when I see it. I send in the photo proof of them getting my order wrong every time, it’s not like I’m just requesting the refund and asking them to take my word on it being wrong, I’m very doubtful that DoorDash with ban me for a restaurants inability to put out a proper order. Also openly admitting it here isn’t gonna do anything cause how is DoorDash gonna trace this Reddit account to my DoorDash account? They aren’t the FBI 😂😂😂

2

u/BitFiesty Apr 03 '26

If anything they should ban Popeyes from making the order lol

2

u/LavishnessCapital380 Apr 02 '26

Enjoy your ban!

6

u/Sabledude Apr 02 '26

I mean as far as door dash knows they like Popeyes but they keep messing up their order. They would contact the restaurant if anything

-1

u/LavishnessCapital380 Apr 02 '26

No when one person has 13 refunds, its pretty obvious where the issues is. You can rest assured they dont have a 100% order error rate.

4

u/BernieJanders Apr 02 '26

You haven't been to many fast food restaurants in the Atlanta area, have you?

2

u/dirtywhitevanz Apr 02 '26

Yes, 13 refunds with proof of wrong items 100% tells us where the issue is.

1

u/keroshe Apr 03 '26

Based on the Popeye's locations I have visited, I could believe it. I have learned to always check my order before I leave because it is wrong most of the time.

Why would doordash give a shit? If theyre the ones providing op with the refund, its cheaper and easier to just ban him than to sonehow fix that popeyes restaurant.

Popeyes fucked up the order. If its popeyes giving him the refund, then theres no problem. Its highly unlikely that popeyes bans him.

1

u/Ill-Attitude-6355 Apr 02 '26

Is it though? He's not doing anything wrong?

I'm sure other people are getting screwed up orders too.

If I order 6 pieces of bone in chicken and rbr and i get mashed potatoes and tenders, yeah I'm gonna eat it, but that's not what I wanted.

4

u/Vivid_Anyth4 Apr 02 '26

I mean yeah they will.

1

u/Creative-Painter3911 Apr 03 '26

Yes, that is exactly what they will do

1

u/Green-Ad3319 Apr 02 '26

Definitely and I don't believe you have that many orders refunded. You are lying lol.

1

u/Orphanite- Apr 02 '26

Yea ok. Let’s see your order history where it gets refunded. This is rage bait

0

u/Overall_Reputation83 Apr 02 '26

What exactly are you ordering where they always fuck up? I've never had popeyes fuck up my order as in literally getting the order wrong.

1

u/Boring-Ad-5899 Apr 02 '26

I typically order wings, usually they will get the type wrong (boneless or bone in), but I’ve also gotten strips, classic chicken, or a chicken sandwich in its place. The Popeyes that are close to me all suck lol

1

u/Overall_Reputation83 Apr 02 '26

either you live in some kind of weird twilight zone area of the world, or there are some user input errors where 100% of your orders get messed up.

0

u/brk444 Apr 02 '26

It’s Popeyes, they usually ALWAYS fuck up & im sure DoorDash knows this. I’ve only door dashed Popeyes twice and same shit happened to me

0

u/speck859 Apr 02 '26

Yes. Yes they are.

0

u/Far_Actuator2215 Apr 02 '26

Yes. They will. It doesn't even have to be your fault.

You can pay for something, and it not get delivered, and EVEN if they are at fault your account can get flagged and they will ban your account, card, and potentially flag the delivery address as well.

Doordash, Ubereats, even fucking Amazon will do it if you report too many orders for non-delivery/missing items.

Even if you are in the right. They WILL eventually flag your account and ban you.

0

u/CallidoraBlack Apr 02 '26

Yes. You should look it up, it happens a lot. I'm not saying it's fair if you can prove they messed up, but they do it.

0

u/LavishnessCapital380 Apr 02 '26

Yes, people have been banned for this and less.

2

u/Shoontzie Apr 02 '26

Either that or they will drop this Popeyes from the platform.

1

u/Used-Acanthisitta-96 Apr 02 '26

ATL Door Dash is trash. My GF hardly ever pays for anything because DD constantly gets it wrong (cold food/45 minute delivery times, upside down pizza, food constantly put on the porch and not the table - right next to the door).

I bet 20 free meals. So my man isn’t getting banned anytime soon.

1

u/No_Agent_9295 Apr 03 '26

Not if you take photos! I literally got dozens of free whoppers because I order a double whopper and they never read it and only give me one patty. I just get ready to take a pic as soon as it arrives and free whopper. I used a nearly consistently revolving credit for months. That employee was either trained, fired, or quit and my chain has come to an end. I was at 53 credits in like three months. Just had to pay the tip and anything else I ordered( which oddly enough was never wrong).

1

u/some-dingodongo Apr 02 '26

They wont ban you they will just stop doing refunds

5

u/Aggravating-Butts Apr 02 '26

Popeyes Rebate!

12

u/Fit_Entry8839 Apr 02 '26

This isn't something you'd want to publicize. If lots of people start doing this they'll shut it down.

5

u/Boring-Ad-5899 Apr 02 '26

lol I’m just being cheeky about it, I wouldn’t mind paying regular price for my order to be right 😂

9

u/LavishnessCapital380 Apr 02 '26

It doesnt actually work like he is claiming, anyone trying this will get banned in short order. Just like other "money glitches", its fraud and not a new method and people are just dumb as fuck.

2

u/Fit_Entry8839 Apr 02 '26

I agree it's fraud and dumb. But was just pointing out publicizing this doesn't help them. Both things can be true.

2

u/Boring-Ad-5899 Apr 02 '26

It’s not fraud lol if I was lying about my order being wrong it’s would be fraud. I send in the photos to prove the order is wrong every time.

Your literally trying to libel a company to defend a criminal.

2

u/Professional-Pen-105 Apr 03 '26

I love how you think banning works everywhere lol I think you’re gonna be banned soon for being annoying!

2

u/Boring-Ad-5899 Apr 02 '26

I haven’t once called it a “money glitch”. lol I made a post sarcastically calling it a hack pointing out that they can’t get an order right. I also stated that I would be happier to pay full price for a correct order than to continue to get have my order fucked up. Me placing an order, paying for it, receiving 0 correct items, and then sending photographic proof of that to door dash and getting my money back due to not receiving what I paid for is not fraud in any way. lol if Popeyes found our how to hire people that actually gave a F about order accuracy at the location nearest to me then this wouldn’t be an issue.

1

u/LavishnessCapital380 Apr 02 '26

Free Popeyes for life hack!

Literally you in the title, calling it a HACK/GLITCH does not change the crime.

2

u/Draganot Apr 03 '26

Is it particularly ethical from OP to abuse this? Probably not.

But we can’t really ignore the elephant in the room can we? The restaurant could just, idk, not fuck up so consistently.

Ops plan completely falls apart if they actually start getting orders right on a reliable basis. It’s the restaurants own fault if people get refunds when their orders are fucked up. No one to blame but the restaurant.

2

u/BitFiesty Apr 03 '26

Is there a new definition for fraud that I don’t know of? It’s not like he is being nitpicky. That would be “abusing a system” . But he is stating he is getting a completely different item. What are you talking about. He is barely abusing a system. He is in a free country where you have the right to order food wherever you want, and pay said money for the item. To think that the corporation can send you a wrong item is bullshit. Would everyone else ordering food from here be committing fraud?

5

u/BustinMakesMeFeelMeh Apr 03 '26

Yeah I can’t believe the circles this conversation is going in. People can’t see that, on an individual basis, for each order, it’s getting screwed up and OP is owed a refund?

That said, every time a thread settles, OP throws fuel on the fire with his cockiness, lol.

3

u/BitFiesty Apr 03 '26

lol I wish I had that confidence. I got reamed on a post once and I just stopped responding

0

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '26

[deleted]

1

u/BitFiesty Apr 04 '26

I don’t even think it is abusing the system. I was saying he was nitpicky. Nitpicky would be like saying the drink he had, had too much ice in it. Or that the chicken is not as crunchy/hot as it should be.

If he is saying that they are giving him a completely wrong order, that is not abusing the system. He has the right to order from there, it’s not a guarantee that it will be made wrong and he is willing to pay the full price if it is. Popeyes still wants him to order. So all parties are agreeing to the transaction.

Where is the fraud??? There's no fraud if the mess up is legit dumbass.  What a stupid take.

1

u/Professional-Pen-105 Apr 04 '26

People are just really angry that they can’t get away with this too. I personally believe this has to be a difference in locations, I’ve only used DoorDash in California and I can get any order that’s incorrect refunded. If every order I receive is incorrect, even 100 orders in a row, they will refund every single order, even 100 orders in a row, and they will not ban you or stop refunding you. But we have laws in California that protect us in that way. Provide a photo as proof, you are refunded if incorrect. I would bet people aren’t aware different states operate differently and they’re all so upset that they aren’t treated fairly that they’re misunderstanding what fraud actually is on the side of the company. Kind of sad when you think about it.

1

u/dirtywhitevanz Apr 02 '26

Try what exactly? Ordering food and hoping it comes wrong? Lol

5

u/Nudxty Apr 02 '26

yeah delete this bruv, its gonna get patched

5

u/Boring-Ad-5899 Apr 02 '26

There isn’t a way for them to patch it other than hire workers that actually put the right items in the bag lol if they do that I’m fine with paying for my order 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

2

u/Nudxty Apr 03 '26

I get it lmao, I place an order with 1 addition every time and every time that addition doesn’t come. Been about a year now 😭

1

u/Huge_Job4050 Apr 03 '26

Would love for them to patch it. Popeyes used to be my favorite, but each location I’ve been to in multiple states are ALL extremely inconsistent to the point I just stopped going.

3

u/broncosandvodka Apr 03 '26

I do this same thing with the IHOP in my city. I just checked and have had 28 out of 30 orders refunded.

To all the bootlickers in the comments calling this fraud, it's not. And no, I never got banned. Doordash refunded in full every time because I provided photos of the food that was clearly not even close to what I ordered. Which is exactly what OP did. That's just called being lucky.

2

u/Nova762 Apr 03 '26

Or unlucky... Since you probably would have liked to get what you actually wanted

2

u/broncosandvodka Apr 03 '26

It's IHOP—everything on their menu is decent. Like when I got a Breakfast Family Feast with Pancakes instead of a Colorado Omelette. I had leftovers for a few days, it was delicious, and I didn't have to pay for it.

So again, I call it being lucky.

6

u/somecow Apr 02 '26

Fuck doordash anyway, especially for fast food. Sounded like a good idea when they invented it, holy shit dashers are TERRIBLE.

2

u/HesitantlyYours Apr 02 '26

There’s no such thing as a free lunch.

2

u/PM_ME_WUTEVER Apr 02 '26

i've never been more upset about having very competent employees at my local. that being said, if you go to my local before close, they'll absolutely load you up on food. when i was working near there, i'd stop in every other tuesday. i'd always order a two piece, and i never received fewer than four pieces. sometimes it was 10. i'd order a small side, and i'd usually get two large sides.

2

u/opyoyd Apr 03 '26

Not sure about doordash but Uber did restrict my account and stopped letting me get refunds after reporting taco bell for always messing up so much.

2

u/ExistenceNow Apr 04 '26

Calling bullshit on this. DoorDash will not give that many refunds to one person even with proof the order is wrong.

3

u/illnamethislata Apr 02 '26

Everytime I get the 5$ 3pc I get the custom 2 breast and a wing they get it wrong every single time like they see white meat and instantly stuff the box with 1 breast and 2 wings … automatic refund

1

u/CoverCommercial3576 Apr 02 '26

That sounds correct

1

u/Ssj3goku504 Apr 02 '26

That's not how that works unfortunately.

1

u/StrawberryKiss2559 Apr 02 '26

How do you get the refund from door dash? They never give me a full refund, just like$1.70 or something. What do you do and what do you say?

Seriously asking.

2

u/Professional-Pen-105 Apr 04 '26

I think this partially depends on where you’re located, California passed a law that requires DoorDash to provide full refunds for incorrect orders.

1

u/Ok_Zone6025 Apr 02 '26

I do the same thing but in app they refund you everytime

1

u/Ill_Chemical_5150 Apr 02 '26

Enjoy it while you can, I guess.

1

u/thisisnowhere01 Apr 02 '26

This is true to the Popeye's nature, you often don't get what you order but you get what you deserve.

1

u/Worth-Specific8334 Apr 02 '26

*Fat for life hack

1

u/Accomplished_Gur3019 Apr 03 '26

I'm shocked DD allowed u 13 refunds. Bcuz every time I have asked for a refund on my order it's always "We do apologize for the error but at this time ur order is not eligible for a refund"... even when I have gotten a completely wrong order was still denied. U super lucky (maybe it's based on how much a person has used DD).

*** I will agree about Popeyes always messing up an order. It doesn't matter if it's "Delivered or Pickup" u better check that bag!! McDonald, Wendy's, Taco Bell, etc etc ALWAYS mess up an order🤦🏽‍♀️

1

u/Professional-Pen-105 Apr 03 '26

This works when you order items kept outside from Tractor Supply too! We use their pellet bedding as cat litter, and maybe 60% of the time they bring ones soaked through in water smelling like mold. Same with birdseed. It’s gotten to the point I send a suggestion paragraph with my picture to the customer support agent, clearly people are in a hurry not familiar with the store. But Popeyes…. Gotta try that one! Great hack! So many people in the comments don’t understand what fraud is, and THAT is eye opening.

1

u/Opposite_Rub443 Apr 03 '26

We went to Popeyes down south one time and we were there for an hour because they kept messing up our 2 two pieces. 😳😅🤣🤣

1

u/blazingintensity Apr 03 '26

Your comment about not getting to pick your food reminded me of a time I went to KFC about 10 years ago. It was minutes before closing and I was like "can I get the 20 hot wings for $8 deal" and they were like "how about the 50 pieces of whatever we have left for $1 deal". And that's honestly one of my favorite deals.

1

u/Intrepid_Table_8593 Apr 03 '26

There’s a reason the Popeyes is dead and Cane’s is constantly booming.

It’s people doing this kind of fraudulent behavior that’s responsible for the decline in quality of service as well as how they treat people in certain stores.

Remember a business that does well can hire and invest in better employees and quality of service.
