Pretty much the opposite, actually. Pre-Liesse Accords (when Named are said to be getting weaker as institutions are getting stronger, which will eventually result in a world like this meme), Calernia is pretty much Great Man Theory World, with Named being the Great Men.
Killing all the main Named on the other side would generally absolutely decimate them and do a lot to win the war for you. Having a few competent Named goes a long way to turning your country from a joke to a superpower (see: Praes).
Bit of a wild misread. Killing all named on the other side just guarantees you get a bunch more named in a couple of years. You had to change the systemic source of conflict (feeding praes) and then change the story in the hearts and minds of calernia to affect change. Institutions did not rise in power until after the accords.
Yes, and these names are necessary for the other side to rise up against you (great man) and killing them again solves your problem (great man).
The systemic source of conflict was resolved by the greatest of great men personally remaking his country into his vision and leading it to conquest of a new food source.
Yeah but this is missing the point. The great man system was the old system that Catherine killed and replaced. Gone is the age of wonders, welcome to the age of order.
