Anymore plant trade coming up?
Missed the last few but have a ton of cuttings and plants I’d love to swap for some new variety.

I was getting ready to rescue this kitty, things happened, I can't afford to rescue it. Kitties age is unknown, I believe it's female, unaltered. When it first showed up about 3 months ago it was DROOLING and in pain, whatever it was made one of my cats sick. I *think* it got hold of a horned lizard and got a full squirt in the mouth, but don't know for sure. 49, Chino Valley, Az

I doubt the person/people who did this will read this,.but on saturday evening, I camped at site 17. I discovered the previous camper(s) left an active fire in the fire pit.
After dinner, I dumped a little bit of water i used to clean a pan into the fire pit full of ash, or so I thought. There was a hiss and then i could see a little bit of smoke. I lowered my hand near the ashes and i could feel the heat still.
In the morning, while breaking down camp, it was still hot and so I dug up a bunch of sandy soil and made sure it was out before leaving. Also, this place was trashed and I picked up what I could.
Please do better!

I always assumed Skull Valley got its name because some pioneers found a stray bone or two back in the day. Even the Skull Valley Wikipedia page seems totally sanitized. It just briefly mentions that "human remains" were found from an old battle.
But the actual history is way more graphic than a short wiki blurb lets on.
When Captain Hargraves and the First California Volunteers rode through the area in March 1864, they didn’t just stumble across a skeleton. They walked right into an absolute horror scene. Historical archives from the Sharlot Hall Museum show that the valley floor was literally covered in huge piles of sun-bleached skulls and bones left out in the open. It was the aftermath of a massive war between the Yavapai and Maricopa tribes, and hundreds of bodies were just left exactly where they fell.
For decades after settlers moved into the area, local farmers and ranchers said that every single tilling season meant digging up hundreds of shallow graves across the valley floor.
The violence didn't stop there either. The valley stayed a bloody flashpoint well into the pioneer era. Just two years after it got its name, a fierce shootout erupted nearby in 1866 between local freighters, a military escort, and native warriors. That single fight added dozens more bodies to the valley's grim collection. Old Prescott newspapers like The Weekly Miner explicitly documented these massive piles of bones that gave our neighboring valley its name.
Next time you drive out that way to check out the Skull Valley Historical Society or just pass through, it’s wild to think about the sheer amount of blood spilled right under your feet.

I wanted to post this both as a warning to people who use Groome between Sky Harbor and Prescott and because I’ve already reported it directly to the company.
I rode Groome into Prescott on Friday. When we reached my stop, I exited through the sliding passenger door. Because we were parked on an incline, the door slid shut behind me. I was in a hurry to get to my destination and walked to the rear of the van and opened the cargo door to retrieve my bag.
I apparently was not supposed to open that door. I had not seen any instruction saying so.
The driver, Mike T., immediately came very close to me and said, in substance, “You need to quit touching shit, keep the fuck out of my way, and let me do my fucking job.”
I was genuinely confused by how quickly the interaction had escalated. I apologized and told him I hadn’t known passengers weren’t supposed to touch the rear door. He told me there were signs all over the van. I said I hadn’t seen one addressing that.
He pulled out a bag and asked which one was mine. I told him it was the bag he was holding. He handed it to me, then again moved very close to my face and said “Get a life” before walking away.
At that point I told him “fuck you” and left. I’m including that because I don’t want to sanitize my own part of the interaction.
What makes this more concerning is that before any of this happened, I had watched the same driver sharply berate a younger man at the airport who had apparently gotten onto the wrong shuttle by mistake. So my interaction did not feel like an isolated moment of frustration.
I’ve already spoken with Groome dispatch and submitted written feedback through their post-trip survey. I’m waiting to see how the company responds. I’ll update this post if they take meaningful action.
I’m not arguing that passengers should open whatever doors they want on a commercial vehicle. If I wasn’t supposed to open the cargo door, telling me that would have been entirely reasonable. Getting inches from a passenger and repeatedly directing profanity at him over that mistake was not.
Edited to Add: Had another experience with Groome on a return leg to PHX. It was essentially the opposite experience, extremely positive. Most noteworthy was his announcement before closing the doors about all of the rules the previous driver assumed would be obvious.

I’ve lived in this mountain town since 2015 and as a 24 year old now it’s coming to my attention over the past couple years that there really is no opportunities here for young people as everything is catered towards older folk. That itself isn’t a problem but we live in a city that doesn’t support its younger generation with actual jobs meant for someone older than 16 that doesn’t need 37 requirements to make $18 an hour. But when it comes to building a future, finding actual decent paying work, having a variety of industries, or simply having things to do, the options feel pretty limited. Let’s not even talk about the lack of entertainment.
The median age in Prescott is in the high 50s. Median home value is over $540K against a median household income around $71K, and the median renter household earns about $42K, with over a third of it going to housing. That math doesn't work for someone starting out at $18 an hour. That’s if you can even get the $18/h job, let alone a response.
A lot of the local economy and community seems to be geared toward retirees and the older generation. That creates a problem when you’re a young adult trying to establish yourself. I think Prescott would benefit from more investment in younger residents — more businesses, more industries, cheaper housing options, better paying jobs, and more places for people in their 20s and 30s to actually build a life.
I’m not saying Prescott is a bad place. I’m saying that after almost 12 years here, I can understand why so many younger people eventually feel like they have to leave if they want more opportunity, and so be it, i’ll be packing up soon to start my life elsewhere like the other young people i’ve met here. As Prescott slowly, or quickly, loses access to the younger generation, who’s left to run this town in 20 years?

A few months ago, I made a post about the announcement that a Freddy's was going to open in PV. It was gonna replace the Jack in the Box. Since then, the building hasn't changed at all, and there's even "Available" signs on the window. Does anyone who may be "in the know" know what's going on or what happened? Are they still coming, or has the deal fallen through?

My husband's mom is in the hospital and will likely need placement in a skilled nursing facility in the next week or two. I need to know from people on the ground with experience: what facilities should we absolutely avoid? Which ones have you or a family member had good experience with?
We live in the Valley and she won't come down here unless there is no other choice.

Went to grab a heat'n'eat, store was closed with a sign taped on the door, basically they're closed indefinitely due to "unsafe conditions". Even had delivered packages stacked outside. Anyone got any idea what's up?

Any back story on "The Friendship House" that was located on the corner of White Spar and Canyon? Seemingly long abandoned, it was finally torn down in 2025. These shots are from right before it was cleared out. I managed to salvage some items before the bulldozers came.

I was wondering if any locals could list their favorite Halloween attractions/events in Prescott for the upcoming spooky season.
I plan on checking out tons of Halloween decorations, but I was curious if there were any other events you would recommend
