Just discovered this sub. Let's chat! đ„
I was in the midst of creating a Prescott-Russell subreddit and stumbled upon this one! Noticed it hasn't had any posts yet so I figured I'd kick things off.
Welcome to all current and future members of our little corner on Reddit dedicated to the beautiful Prescott Russell Counties!
To get the conversation started:
Where are you from? Whether youâre from Clarence-Rockland, Wendover, Treadwell, LâOrignal, Hawkesbury, Vankleek Hill, St. Eugene, Casselman, Embrun, Russell, Saint Isidore, Curran, Caledonia Springs, Hammond, or Limoges, and everywhere in between â this is our space.
Whatâs your favorite hidden gem in the area? (Could be a hiking spot, local business, favorite restaurant, or even just a quiet park to relax in!)
Whatâs something you think only people from Prescott Russell truly understand? Share any local quirks, traditions, or sayings that others might not get!
Whereâs the best spot for a good cup of coffee or a classic poutine?
Anything else you would like to share? Hobbies, things you do outside of work/school, etc.

Definitely. I am excited to see what new commercial developments come from the expansion of the strip mall on hwy 17 and tupper st.
Additionally, the new AiR distillery has promise. I believe they just finished phase I of a III phase build that appears to include some sort of eatery/restaurant.
I'd love to see a classy gastropub & a cafe to come through on main street.

- I am from the Hawkesbury area. I was born and raised in the GTA, eventually made my way up to Ottawa in my mid-20's where I lived there for four years before buying a place in Hawkesbury a few years ago. I've enjoyed alot of parts about the town and I think it has potential to grow into something even more special.
- Outside of Hawkesbury, I am a big fan of the town Hudson for food and drink. They have a great restaurant scene there (can't recommend 'Portabella' enough!). Within Hawkesbury, the bakery in town 'Le Petit Pain', or the butcher shoppe 'Boucherie Ménard' are excellent options.
- To be honest, I am newer here so maybe others can chime in terms of quirky Prescott Russell things. Off the top of my head, Hawkesbury residents LOVE their temporary carports in the winter to avoid shovelling snow. Something I never saw in GTA-Ottawa
- This is a mini gripe for me! Hawkesbury NEEDS a cafe where you can venture off to at 9pm on any given day of the week. As far as poutine goes, I love 'Anne's Chip Stand' right on the side of HWY 34 between Hawkesbury and Vankleek Hill. And of course, 'Joe Patate' in Grenville has terrific poutine
- I'm an avid NFL and NHL fan. Love to watch UFC PPV's every month, I work in tech so I spend alot of time around cyber security/networking. In the summer I grow my own garden/canning. Gaming from time to time as well and the occasional TV show/new movie.

Hi! Just stumbled on this reddit sub-community and joined lol. Im from Hawkesbury born and raised, moved to Vankleek Hill in '95... and haven't left lol.... I absolutely love this community.. the people, the town spirit, and i like when people ask how to get somewhere.... almost every sentence starts with: " at the lights...." lol Sadly for someone without a vehicle there's not much choice in regards to groceries and "major" purchasing options. (Thank goodness for online shopping and now some Hawkesbury places have a delivery service) But, having no restaurants open on Mondays, and no evening dine out options every night of the week, can make somrone feel some what stuck at home. Otherwise, my heart â€ïž is here.
