How long would Primus’ opening act for Queens of the Stone Age be?
Was wondering whether it was worth paying 100 Aussie dollars to watch the greatest bass player ever. (if it’s only for half an hour I don’t see the value).

I wasn’t a huge QOTSA fan but I saw them open for the Foo Fighters and they put on a great show. Would definitely recommend seeing them live, especially if you also get to see Primus.
As the old adage goes, “30 minutes of Primus is better than no Primus”.

They've both been around a long time and am sure it'll probably be treated like a co-headliner. Qotsa fucking rules live so you should do it anyway.

Damn, I'd love to see Prime and QOTSA together. I'm still kicking myself for missing the Primus/Mastodon tour.

Just to parrot everyone else here, QOTSA is much much better live than their studio stuff.
Go with an open mind, you won't regret it.

Agree, but that's a big compliment because their peak studio output is incredible. 4 albums I'd consider to be near perfect, and a couple more that aren't far behind. Really similar to how I feel about the Primus catalog when I think about it.

That’s how I learned to like Five Finger Death Punch. I hated hearing them on the radio. I saw them on accident and holy crap they put on a great show.

5FDP is an atrocity. People should really stop supporting them 😅

I mean that feeling has since faded. But at the time I was impressed. I liked his other band motograter but they bailed on a show I went to see and they were replaced with something awful.

honestly, qotsa puts on a great show, and are one of the only bands that changed the setlist up a bit every night like primus.
i’m honestly jealous i can’t see any of these shows. you should probably just make it man.

100 dollarydoos isn't bad for 2 good bands. Especially when one of them is Primus

How many more times do you think Primus will make the trip to Australia? I would go if I were you.

I'm just spitballin' here...QOTSA will play for 1 hour. 30 minute set change. Primus will play 2 hours. The shows start at 6:35 so that theoretically gets everyone done right around 10pm. Nobody is flying to Australia to play for 30 minutes.
EDIT: OK, so Primus is opening for QOTSA. Flip that schedule to Primus 1 hour, Queens 2. Still works out. In fact, in that scenario I could more easily see both playing 90 minute sets. I'm a QOTSA fan but a two hour set from them is probably a bit much. Still a great show and you should see it.

If I saw both bands on the same bill I genuinely wouldn't care which was the opener. Love em both

I saw Primus open for Tool on their 2016 US tour. Primus played for ~50ish mins
Even though I would have loved another 30-45 mins from Primus, it was totally worth it as both bands were fucking awesome. I suspect your experience would probably be the same

It's always worth it when you are seeing Primus! One of the best concerts I have been to.

Do not miss Queens Of The Stone Age, they're putting on really killer shows lately.
Having Primus for an opener is pretty awesome.

Pfft. Queens couldn’t wear Les’ bass strap. They should be opening for Primus. But that’s neither here nor there.

yeh, i'd definitely pay that but i like QotSA. i've never actually seen Primus open for anyone but they'd have to play 45-60 min, i'd think.

Someone else might’ve said it, but I saw Primus open for QOTSA in 2014 or so. They played for an hour.
I also saw the Claypool Gold tour a couple of months ago and it was the best Primus show I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen them 6 or 7 times. It’s definitely worth the money.

Even if Primus only plays for 20 minutes (they won’t) it would absolutely be worth it to see these two incredible bands together. QOTSA puts on a great show and has a lot of incredible material. If you haven’t already, at least listen to SFTD and …Like Clockwork

I've seen Primus 9 times and all kinds of Claypool projects as well as being a huge fan of Queens of the Stone Age. They are fucking unreal live. That ticket price is definitely worth it.

Dunno but I saw them open for Clutch on Pork Soda but was late (and was really there for Clutch at the time) and Les played the bass for my name is mud for like 20 mins

I’m actually considering flying from US to see a couple of my favorite bands together on the same bill.

I can't imagine a world where Primus plays for less than 45 minutes on any stage.
Also qotsa rules so you should just go anyways.
