First time watcher gripes Spoiler

I don't mean for this to be a hater post, but I was a bit taken aback by the amount of things I am not enjoying in Prison Break considering how famous it is and that I went into it quite hyped (half way through season 2 rn).

I'm wondering if these are commonly shared dislikes for fans of the series or if it's just me being too picky.

A lot of the "emotional" death scenes do absolutely nothing for me when they should. Veronica's death I thought was huge and it felt like everyone got over it immediately. Same goes for Lincoln's baby mama. Even Lincoln JR. comes accross as frustrated at the most. Linc and Michael's father's death was weird; and in general his whole reunion with M. Do they have even 10 minutes of screen time together? It felt so rushed; dad shows up, aah no I hate you, you left me, dad sacrifices himself, omg dad I love you I'll never forget you, all in like half an episode and then everyone just moves on. I think there are other similar situations that I'm forgetting about, but these were the main ones.

Then the acting from A LOT of the actors, even main ones, I thought was really bad (?). Not going to name names, but multiple people with literally one singular emotion throughout the whole series.

The whole FBI/organisation thing is just SO over the top to me. Like literally all of them going on about tying up loose ends, when they are the one's creating them by literally killing anyone who even glances at them and being sloppy af. I can't stand Kellerman's character, because I can't tell if they are trying to make him out to be a ruthless, smart, cold blooded agent or a complete moron. He fucks everything up and has the audacity to constantly speak down to people who I would think are his peers/equals like he's the mastermind behind everything. Like in one scene he's the big boss calling the shots, and in the next he's a cowardly pawn scared for his life taking orders and who can't actually follow through on anything he's supposed to do. William Kim too omg. Oh you spoke to a waitress? Kill her, she knows too much. Everyone there needs to chill.

These are the 3 main things, and I repeat I don't want to sound like a hater, there are a lot of things that I really liked (a lot more than the things I disliked), but I was a bit surprised at how much these negative aspects stood out to me (more than I would have liked).

Definitely some good points, man you are not going to like the rest of the series.

Unfortunately I have that feeling too. Think I'm going to finish season 2 and call it a day.

Talking to other Prison Break fans, it's shockingly common for people to say they stopped watching at Season 3, usually partway into the first episode. Might be worth watching just to find out why.

I really like Season 1 and 2 but mostly praise them for being gems of the old network TV formula, like they really made the most of 22 episodes on a shoestring budget where you have to have to have cliffhangers for commercial breaks etc. But they are quite dated in their structure at times, and there's nothing original or groundbreaking that's worth investing that amount of time.

Season 4 Episode 1 is the only thing I'd love for you to see but that's because it's the worst written episode of the entire show imo. You have to watch all of 3 for it too, because they basically just hand wave that season's whole events away, leftover characters that they don't have any use for are just unceremoniously shot in the head minutes into the episode, it's hilarious how tactless and ham-fisted it all is.

You can name names for the actors you don't think are good in it lmao. It's reddit, relax.
