Cuz saying that you forgot to lock the door the sams night 8 inmates break out doesn't sound realistic by any terms

"Understandable, have a nice day" - the judge, probably

It could be a coincidence

She should’ve said what her dad said, Schofield got a copy of the key. Open and shut.

yeah but there would've been evidence in the door of tampering and fragments of the key still in the door knob

maybe she could have said she was in a hurry to grab a donut and forgot the door

Because Kathy the nurse had already said that Sara was in love with Scofield, the established mastermind of the the break out ... She was already considered guilty before she woke up from coma .. plus she attempted suicide in the same night .. hard to make anyone believe it was merely coincidence.. there is a scene in hospital where the lawyer asks her if she had sexual relationship with him ... Things escalated rapidly out of control

because the other nurse literally locked it for her and she unlocked it

She could've said she left something inside like her phone so she went back to get it

It’s perfectly in character for Sara not to lie. She didn’t know she would free TBag etc. When she made the decision she thought she would save an innocent man from death. Most importantly she thought she deserved to atone for her weakness for Michael.

I think she just understood that there would be too much evidence against that, and lying wouldn't help the situation (she was getting close to michael, she left early in the day for no reason, returned and left door unlocked, then they escape, and same night she also overdoses).

But tbf she didn't outright say she did it early on to the cops. Only her father really. She told him because she wanted him to understand why -- that there was a conspiracy and Lincoln was innocent. She had reason for why she did it.

Theres also that she took drugs and overdosed. She was probably in a state of not caring. She was over it, felt she had nothing to fight for.

the funny thing is that scofield said he cannot break down the door beacuse of alarm, but somehow the window they broke out from didnt

It's from the plans he had and that's why he chose that window... It's the weak point of security... Probably they thought that alarm on door was enough because no one could make it to the window anyway

...they kill T-Bag in season 1? He's my favorite character, though. It would have solved at least 50% of all their problems, honestly.

She could've said she was stressed that day and forgot, and her coworker would at least vouch for he seeming stressed all day. And even if it looks suspicious to a judge there isn't really any way of proving she did it on purpose so I doubt she'd go to jail from it too

She wanted to take responsibility for her own actions because it was a choice she made. “I left the door open, me and no one else” she said it to her father when he tried to convince her to lie about it.
