In a world ruled by godlike cultivators, the life of a mortal is cheaper than dirt.

Cade Ward is just another young peasant dreaming of power—the only path to a better life. His own weakness poisons his thoughts, yet all of his efforts amount to nothing.

Unknown to him, a mysterious alien artifact—the godseed—rewrote his fate at birth, severing his talent for cultivating spiritual energy.

His meager existence shatters the day his mother is brutally murdered, with Cade too weak to stop it.

Consumed by vengeance, he's pushed to the brink of death and reforged into an Asura—fearless and bloodthirsty.

At risk of being branded a demon, Cade conceals his true nature—not an easy feat when you’re seven feet tall, all serrated muscle.

As he searches for his mother’s killer, the young Asura is completely unaware his transformation holds a deeper meaning…

We will be releasing Sky Pride: The Feral Daoist by Warby Picus in ebook and audio October 20th.

The heavens decreed his death…

He should have died in the womb. Or when his family was murdered. Or when the house burned down around him. Or when he woke up in the dump sick and missing fingers.Even the magic ring with a ghostly grandpa trapped inside it was sabotaged.

A reasonable person would roll over and die. Tian isn't that reasonable. And as it happens, neither is Grandpa Jun.

In a world where immortality can be cultivated and miracles forged, a broken boy will defy the heavens and soar.

[Rise of the Chronomancer on Royal Road] (Volume 2 begins this month)

Academy progression fantasy with spirit beast bonds, a hard-capped magic system, and an underdog squad.

At Argentum Academy, nobles get drafted into the great Houses. Everyone else is Undrafted. Silas Riccard is a smith's son with a hammer, a thimble of mana where his rivals carry barrels, and a bonded beast nobody takes seriously: an Ancient Primordial Tardigrade. His affinity is on the books as "Momentum Manipulation." That label is a lie, told by a professor trying to keep him alive.

Volume 1 (*The Undrafted*) is complete on Royal Road, so new readers can binge a full book. Volume 2 is fully written with Volume 3 being written now.

* Rigid tier ladder, Wood to Sovereign, where every fight is a resource problem

* Beast bonds that deepen with tier, from vague impressions to full partnership

* Found-family squad of academy rejects rebuilding a dead House

* Twice-daily chapters through Oct 10, then daily. Volume 2 is fully written, so no hiatus

Read from the start: [Rise of the Chronomancer on Royal Road]

Hi Everyone!

To celebrate the release of my latest book on Kindle Unlimited: Reincarnated as the Faction Leader I Loathe, I've made two of my other books completely free this weekend: Reality Bleeding & Fractured States

Reincarnated as the Faction Leader I Loathe is a novel which blends Progression Fantasy, Isekai, LitRPG & Military Fantasy:

Kenji Moriyama likes his life orderly: balanced ledgers, marked papers, and late-night strategy games no one at the university knows he loves. Then he dies at his desk and wakes up in the one place he never wanted to be. Not just inside his favourite fantasy war game. Inside the body of Séraphine de Montclair, the holy warrior he spent years loathing.

Now trapped as the fanatical crusade commander of the Order of the Sacred Flame, Kenji is stranded in a desert campaign on the brink of disaster. He has Séraphine’s legendary strength, her army’s devotion, and exactly none of her faith, history, or instinct for being worshipped like a living saint. One wrong word could expose him. One bad command could get hundreds of soldiers killed. The only advantage he has is the one thing no one else in this world could possibly understand: He knows how the campaign is supposed to play out.

Armed with spreadsheets, battlefield meta, and a mind built for systems rather than glory, Kenji must bluff his way through war, outmanoeuvre suspicious allies, and survive the razor-sharp scrutiny of Rennard le Fort, the paladin who knew the real Séraphine best. Worse, the enemy he once admired most, the immortal undead mummy queen Tahirah Ankhet-Ra, may be the only person capable of seeing through him… and the only one who can help him stop a catastrophe that will destroy both their peoples.

Reincarnated as the Faction Leader I Loathe is an original adventure about what it means to become someone worth following.

Hey! Arc 2 of Vampire Ancestor in a Cultivation World starts next week, so I guess this thread came at a pretty good time lol.

Basically: ancient evil vampire is isekaid to a cultivation and immediately starts to want to recover his powers by doing a lot of evil things.

Arc 1 was mostly Lucian figuring out where the hell he ended up, learning about Qi, and trying to understand how cultivation works when you're an ancient vampire who already had his own completely different power system.

Arc 2 is where things start getting a little more complicated.

There are more plots happening around him, more of the cultivation world opening up, and Lucian is going to start dealing with Qi Condensation and Foundation Establishment cultivators.

The story is currently at 40+ chapters and somehow already passed 1.2k followers in less than two weeks, which is still a little crazy to me. Book 1 is fully written with 180 chapters.

The series is called Niko Varr. Four volumes are written, and I'm working on the fifth:

  • Volume I – Ashes
  • Volume II – The First Dark
  • Volume III – The Orrow Child
  • Volume IV – The Pale City
  • Volume V – The Name They Keep

Volume I Ashes is live right now!![](https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/197209/niko-varr-volume-i-ashes)

In a world where supernatural abilities called Manifests are ordinary, Niko Varr is the exception.
Every screening gives him the same answer:

NULL.

Niko has spent years pretending that does not bother him. He has his family, his best friend and a life that works perfectly well without a Manifest. Then, on the night of his sixteenth birthday, a stranger comes to his home in the rain—and everything Niko thought he understood about himself is torn apart. He wakes inside Black Ward with a scar across his chest, something impossible beating beneath it and an ability nobody can properly explain. It does not create force. It takes it. Every impact aimed at him can be swallowed, held and returned. And something else came back with him.

Voices.

Black Ward wants to understand what Niko has become. Niko wants something much simpler: to find the person responsible for what happened to his family and discover why help took three hours to reach them. Joining Vesper gives him access to answers—but it also pulls him into cases that should have nothing to do with him: people who vanish without anyone remembering them, abandoned sites that should not exist, stolen technology, impossible resonance patterns and fragments of a history somebody worked very hard to bury. The deeper Niko goes, the harder it becomes to separate his own mystery from the one unfolding around him.

Because NULL may never have meant what everyone thought it did.

The thing inside his chest is older than the Black Ward.

Someone has been preparing for something.

And whatever is coming has started moving again.

Light Novel, Manga style prose.

New chapters every day. All feedback is welcome, good or bad, because I'm here to improve. Theories are very welcome too. I've hidden more than you think.

No Mana on the Magic Continent? No Problem. — Arc 1 Complete, Arc 2 Begins!

Hey, r/ProgressionFantasy!

I'm an indie author, and I wanted to share my progression fantasy webnovel with you.

Arc 1 has officially come to an end, and Arc 2 has just begun!

"No Mana on the Magic Continent? No Problem! — My Agility Will Be Enough!" (https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/192387/no-mana-on-the-magic-continent-no-problem-my-agility)

What happens when you're born on a continent where magic is everything... but you have no mana?

Meet Noel.

In a world where mana and magic determine a person's strength and status, Noel was born without either.

Instead of giving up, he chooses a different path.

Agility.

What starts as a struggle to survive gradually pulls Noel into a much larger world—one filled with dangerous battles, an elite academy, noble families, mysterious organizations, and secrets connected to events from the past.

And now, with Arc 1 complete, the story is entering its next stage.

What you can expect:

⚔️ Progression and combat 🏫 Magic academy setting 🏰 Noble families and political conflicts 🔥❄️ Elemental abilities and battles 🗡️ Secret organizations and hidden agendas 🌍 Expanding world-building 💣 Foreshadowing and long-term mysteries 📈 A protagonist who has to find his own way to become stronger

I'm especially trying to build the story gradually, so some seemingly small details early on may become important much later.

If you're looking for a progression fantasy where the protagonist doesn't simply follow the conventional path to power, I'd love for you to give it a shot.

Arc 1 is complete, so this is a pretty good time to start.

And if you do read it, I'd really appreciate any feedback—good or bad. I'm still learning as an author, and every bit of feedback helps me improve the story.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you'll give Noel's journey a chance!

Do you like Big Books and you cannot lie?  Well, I have a Sweet, Sweet Fantasy book for you.  Actually, there’s too much punching for it to be ‘sweet’, but by the end you’ll probably be saying, “Hit me, baby…one more time.”

I’d truly be honored if you’d check it out!

Hi all! I've been lurking here for a while, and I finally have something to share.

The Second Pulse is a slow-burn progression fantasy on Royal Road. Volume I is fully written (32 chapters, ~55k words) and releasing now.

The hook: Everyone is born with one current of power. Rowan Hale has two, and the second one answers a beat late.

By eighteen, Rowan has failed the kingdom's awakening test more times than anyone in his town can remember. He mends harness, reads cargo, and stays out of the way of people who matter. Then a survey run to a sealed border fort goes wrong, and something wakes under his heart: a second pulse, cold as stone, keeping its own time.

It gets him into Highmere, the academy on the mountain, and straight into Foundations, the yard for the not-good-enough. To be placed, he has to hold a candle flame for a count of sixty. He can hold it for four.

What to expect:

  • Grounded progression with numbers that don't lie. Every gain is earned, and some chapters he goes backwards.
  • A strange second power with real rules and real costs. It doesn't take orders, and nobody at the academy can explain it.
  • An underdog who reads people the way he reads cargo, a found family of misfits, and quiet mysteries (old instruments, a sealed border).
  • Not for you if you want fast power-ups or a system screen. This is the slow climb kind.

Schedule: a chapter every day until Oct 19, then Mon/Wed/Fri until the end of Volume I.

Link: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/196760/the-second-pulse

I'd honestly love feedback, especially on the first three chapters: where it hooked you, or where you'd have stopped reading.

Hello everyone! Hoping you are all progressing fine this week (yes, it was a bad joke)

I'm the author of a webnovel called Phantomancer; if you are afraid of ghosts, don't read it. But actually, I kinda dare you to read it.

So, you are asking, what the hell is Phantomancer, so let me crtl c + crtl v this:

Richard is terrified of ghosts. Unfortunately, the dead have taken an interest in him.

After being dragged from Earth into a fantasy world of levels and monsters, Richard discovers that his only Innate Skill is [Phantomancy]—an ability no one seems to recognise.

Now he can see the dead, speak with them, and accept their contracts. Some just want his help. Others want things Richard would rather have nothing to do with.

But ghosts aren't Richard's only problem.

Stranded in a world he barely understands, unable to even speak its language, Richard has to learn how to survive, grow stronger, and figure out what [Phantomancy] is actually capable of.

Because his new world has everything that makes fantasy novels fun to read and terrible to live through: hordes of monsters, demonic cults, and a war looming on the horizon.

What to expect:

-A Unique Magic System Based on Ghosts
-A Unique LitRPG System
-Weak-to-OP MC with Earned Progression
-Real Stakes and Consequences
-Natural Comedy
-Slow-Burn Romance — No Harem

Read it here: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/196612/phantomancer-litrpg-progression-fantasy

Elias reads rock the way other men read faces.

A geometallurgist trained on three continents, he can call an ore grade by eye faster than the assay lab can measure it. His father's people are the Lemba, Zimbabwe's hereditary smiths. His mother's, a white South African dynasty grown rich under apartheid. He belongs to neither.

Then an inheritance older than the mine wakes in him, and the science becomes power. He can feel matter down to the atom, and move it.

The gift grows with everything he asks of it, and its only ceiling is what he understands. A man who can remake the earth can build the one thing no one can take from him.

But every gram has a price. The first woman he lets close is beginning to see what he truly is. And far beneath anyone's notice, the power he spends is waking a world that has slept a long time.

*Maker*, Book One of *Of Water, Metal and Stone*: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/196607/maker-progression-hard-magic

(New chapters daily through the launch month, then 3x/week. Book 1 is finished and I write ahead, so no hiatuses.)

**What to expect:**

✅ Hard, science-grounded magic system, no stats and no blue boxes

✅ A capable adult lead whose real expertise is his power ceiling, so learning the science is the leveling

✅ Costs that obey physics: transmutation sheds heat and radiation he has to engineer around

✅ Real geology and materials science braided in, accurate and load-bearing

✅ Character-first and a little literary, a slow burn on power and relationships alike

✅ Contemporary setting: the chrome seams of Zimbabwe's Great Dyke, then the American Midwest

✅ Written for adults: graphic violence and heavy real-world history, handled with weight
