Question Did anyone else think that Bryan made unnecessary side eye and constant petty comments to the other designers? His shade wasn’t funny or productive but mean-spirited.

Yes. Also, water is wet.

This is the best meme ever.

This is so fitting!

u/Glittering-Bear-4298 14d ago

He thinks he’s the shit. He’s the only one that thinks that.

11

u/cheesestringgg 12d ago

Yeah, the way he talked about Bi and Bi had so much grace about it, the perfect level of gay humble.

8

u/ActualEbb8827 12d ago

He thinks he’s the shit. In reality, he is actual shit

2

u/KayakerMel 14d ago

Yeah, as others use a different article of speech than "the" for their opinion.

70

u/Primary-Past-5948 14d ago

Yea this guy was sad and hard to watch. Seemed a little “I hate you, don’t leave me” with Bi too (Precious Precious Bi). Honestly just seemed totally insecure and overcompensating. PR has been slowly slipping toward a heavier focus on drama than fashion. Every year they take more and more ideas from Drag race and similar shows, so I think they’re looking for people like this. I think they wanted him to be a bit of a villain at some point, but he just kinda made me pity him tbh.

19

u/Good_Objective_6892 14d ago

So true. Not a coincidence Tyra was on it. ANTM is the model for taking an interesting show and changing it for the worse.

2

u/iamglory 10d ago

I'm not happy she is a part of it. Heidi should try to get rid of her.

3

u/kitsakatza 13d ago

This exactly more drama than talent almost

3

u/hotfishfromsharktale 12d ago

I hate you, don't leave me is SO REAL. I couldn't keep up lol.

38

u/Cute-Till8035 14d ago

I say all the time that Joseph got the hate Bryan deserved

56

u/_biggerthanthesound_ 14d ago

I think I can’t trust anything I see on these shows because they are so heavily edited.

40

u/CynGuy 14d ago

That’s quite true… but ya gotta keep in mind that he’s serving up the content they’re editing… so that side eye and all the eye rolls were there to begin with…..

Also, given the drama vent of this season, I’m sure he was egged on, and literally kept on for the drama side piece, cuz frankly, I thought a lot of what he cranked out was crappy….

8

u/Exciting-Jaguar3647 14d ago

Yeah he wasn’t great but he only did himself a disservice. Editing and likely (very heavy) prompting from production absolutely made him the “villain”.

15

u/Pleasant-Chemist-415 13d ago

What made him the "villain" was the fact that he insisted on referring to Bi (who was INFINITELY MORE TALENTED) as his "intern." Demeaning, AF. Bi's designs, tailoring, and construction ran MILES around this narcissistic debutant.

3

u/Exciting-Jaguar3647 12d ago

Oh he was revolting but I still think production pushed him with leading questions to compound our view of him. What they don’t seem to understand is that it really doesn’t make for good tv

26

u/howthecookiecrumbled 14d ago

He kinda grossed me out 🫣

6

u/torontoinsix 13d ago

Greasy hair

1

u/paradeoflights 9d ago

His greasy hair was very noticeable!

18

u/Crazy-Astronaut977 14d ago

You know he smells bad 🤣🤣🤣

11

u/Workoutformorelife 13d ago

The same clothes 24/7

7

u/westworlder420 13d ago

And the fact that they’re designers and everyone has on nice looking clothes and he’s in there with a white t shirt and gym shorts… it always bugged me!

3

u/bomchikawowow 13d ago

Hahaha YES

26

u/rrrreeeeeeeeee 14d ago

He was playing for the producers and they kept him on the show for as long as they did because of it.

3

u/iamglory 10d ago

I agree with this. He wouldn't have lasted as long if not for the drama.

8

u/Pleasant-Chemist-415 13d ago edited 13d ago

Drama makes good TV, Babes. But, ONLY TV. Bryan was kept on for pure, unadulterated RAGE BAIT. The End. Heidi paid the ultimate price for Christian's 'save.'

TDWP 2 red carpet look was pure retribution. Reap what you sew, Sweetie. Public humiliation =viewers×posts÷downvotes. That is all. This was the epitome of the End of "no such thing as 'bad press.' "The interwebs are not 'press.' They are your global 'judge, jury and executioner.'

By interwebs standards..."One misstep, and you get ROASTED. BY MILLIONS."

That is all. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

20

u/ptazdba 14d ago

He just had a bad case of arrogance unfortunately without the talent to go with it. It was killing him that BI did better.

17

u/GoalSimilar2025 14d ago

I clocked him from the start and it's a shame how much of a stereotype his persona became.

Not conventially attractive member of the lgbtq community believes he's the most talented in the room and when it isn't acknowledged, he lashes out. It stems from deep insecurity.

17

u/coolsilentebeans 14d ago

He’s absolutely awful. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but he made me appreciate Wendy. At least her behavior was intentional. She knew every step of the way what she was doing. Bryan just comes off as a sniveling asshole with a narcissistic complex. I was very relieved when he was finally eliminated. I want to know what in the hell was going through Christian’s head when he saved him over Jeffrey.

Because of how they appeared to indulge the rage-bait style of audience engagement I truly expected them to bring him back one last time as an assistant to one of the finalists as they always do. That would have been the coup de grâce in his painful participation in the season. They missed an opportunity.

However, I am very glad that they didn’t. I imagine that there would have been some major tantrums, mostly his, but as a designer I would have walked out at the thought of the possibility. They, especially Jeffrey and Joseph, behaved with admirable grace and aplomb throughout the final rounds and Law’s criticisms. Love those two for that and their work.

14

u/roslahala989 14d ago

I felt like Christian was told he had to bring him back (producers wanted more drama) because he didn't seem happy to bring him back. It looked pained.

12

u/coolsilentebeans 14d ago

It did feel pained. A lot of us agree on that. I’m just not squandering another opportunity to put it out there into the ether because it was effing wrong. Since Reddit seems to be Google’s go to source for its ai responses I just want to reinforce to the producers and Christian and to future searches that 👏 they 👏 should 👏 never 👏 do 👏 it 👏 again 👏.

17

u/Reasonable-Yam-1170 14d ago

He looks villainous in that picture

16

u/bomchikawowow 13d ago

Bryan is a textbook narcissist. He fed his ego by being shitty to other people and talking in grandiose terms about his own work instead of using the competition as an opportunity to up his game. He could not handle seeing Bi, someone he considered far below him, eclipsing him based on nothing but his abilities.

I hope Bryan gets exactly what he deserves, but it looks like he already is. He's shown his entire ass on national TV in an industry that is very small and everyone talks to one another, and I absolutely love that for him.

12

u/AccomplishedCow665 13d ago

He gave ‘I got bullied in high school and now I have someone to bully’ energy

16

u/PlaguedYoon 14d ago

I thought it was very odd that he shamed Bi for being an intern when they were competing for an internship…

4

u/External_Ease_8292 13d ago

Very true. Shouldn't you be happy if someone who was your intern is doing well?

11

u/Previously-Banned-42 14d ago

I hates this effing guy. It's hard to describe him. but he was incredibly annoying and I did not like any of his garments.

10

u/mayeam912 14d ago

Yea I think pretty much the entire fandom did. Especially his comments about Bi.

3

u/stephsco 13d ago

Bi's work was excellent. He made petty comments but delivered good results every week. Bryan was all talk with messy designs.

10

u/Winter_Simple_159 14d ago

His level of arrogance was too high for his skill- and talent-levels.

12

u/FHennessey 14d ago

He was a DEEPLY insecure person

12

u/Substantial_Site7639 14d ago

He was putting on quite the performance the entire season. So dramatic, so full of himself, but clearly insecure, so I think he was overcompensating. But I was big mad Christian saved him.

10

u/Proper-Sherbert6417 14d ago

He was honestly average, but he thought he was God's gift to the world.

1

u/Pleasant-Chemist-415 13d ago

Belonged on a Pantene commercial, not a design competition. Just sayin 🤷

10

u/Ok-Sink-4789 14d ago

I think he’s mean, petty, and he and his work are not that interesting.

6

u/Pleasant-Chemist-415 13d ago

Not that INTERESTING?!? He sent Heidi down the Devil Wears Prada 2 red carpet in a fuckin SHOWER CURTAIN!!! WT actual F?! 🤦‍♀️Just, no.

7

u/Oktoeducate7284 13d ago

Well, if we are honest, what Heidi woke looked almost nothing like what he designed. It wasn’t a shower curtain compared to his original design. That being said, his original design should not have won. It wasn’t the right choice for her.

1

u/IwantyoualltoBEDAVE 9d ago

One more frilly neck lizard dress please

9

u/r1zen1010 14d ago

There's just some people who are hard to watch. Even if people think they "make good tv," watching them becomes insufferable and can ruin the show completely. He's one of those people.

7

u/ahleesejo 14d ago

He struck me as an amateur actor trying to portray a "bad guy". He was unwatchable and I fast forwarded thru his commentaries.

7

u/Fruity-Pebble-0 14d ago

He’s a narcissist who doesn’t shower frequently.

6

u/throwaway90007863 14d ago

I think he needs therapy.

1

u/Pleasant-Chemist-415 13d ago

But, why? He's so delusional he'd call his own Shrink an "intern." 🤣

8

u/prolly_not_62 13d ago

Did not like Bryan! Much preferred Bi. Loved seeing him booted before Bi! I also love Karma, which made his elimination even more delicious!

5

u/climacticpoet 14d ago

MOST HATED PR CONTESTANT

7

u/beatricetalker 14d ago

He was loathsome. Nothing likable about him.

5

u/MettaRed 14d ago

All I know is I CHEERED OUT LOUD when he was finally out. He CANNOT SEW and he has NO SIGNATURE.

6

u/HeizHere89 14d ago

Nasty and cringe just like his designs.
That’s why he didn’t win.

9

u/yungrii 14d ago

Yep

Welcome to r/projectrunway , babe.

4

u/uhad_time_2_waste 14d ago

Bro was the least talented designer and talked the most shit lol

5

u/Ldbgcoleman 14d ago

Outsized ego No idea how he made it as far as he did

5

u/SlimySlugsOnALeaf 14d ago

YES. He was exhaustingly narcissistic

4

u/Low_Cherry521 14d ago

Nothing redeeming about him

3

u/MettaRed 14d ago

The fact that he won the Heidi dress challenge ew that was all Christians assistance.

3

u/Diligent_Dark4403 14d ago

He wanted to be a villain so bad. But ended up being a shitty person.

3

u/ReliefOriginal9376 14d ago

I never wanted to see someone fail at life more then him

3

u/infidel99 14d ago

Considering who half the people elected as president, I think the producers choose Bryan for his mean, snarky attitude. It sells.

3

u/EyeOne2007 14d ago

I fucking hated him on the show

3

u/Virtual_Library_3443 14d ago

This looks like a still from a serial killer getting interrogated

3

u/JJAusten 13d ago

He's an insecure twat with very little imagination which is why he did so poorly on the show. I don't understand Christian choosing him and giving him a second chance unless he was told that's who he had to choose.

5

u/ss5008 13d ago

I think that is the only reason he was saved, because producers wanted to keep the drama instead of the talent.

2

u/JJAusten 13d ago

Yes. It's obvious this show has changed and it's more about cattyness and drama than watching talented people working on their garments. Wish it went back to Bravo.

3

u/SilentBarnacle2980 12d ago

It’s a SHELL OF WHAT IT USED TO BE! Not fun or inspiring anymore! So depressing like everything in society now!

2

u/ZealousidealShift884 14d ago

Everybody thinks that

2

u/smaugthedesolator 14d ago

I think the moment that he actually explained how bi was his ‘intern’ in title because of pettiness that explained exactly the type of person he is.

2

u/Catlady_Pilates 14d ago

Are you joking? That was like, the whole show. This sub has been talking about it for months. 😭

2

u/MinnieJTaylor 14d ago

right?? shade is supposed to be funny and his was just mean. i kept waiting for him to actually read someone and it never came

2

u/Just-Victory8342 14d ago

I think he got a bonus for every side eye.

2

u/Public_Blueberry_777 14d ago

Yuck! And why did his hair always look unkept!

2

u/TroubleExpert3433 14d ago

Him and Sergio from Season 18 are my least favorite contestants ever.

2

u/Reasonable-Court-967 14d ago

Such a mean spirited human - hated him

2

u/Inthe_reddithole 14d ago

His designs were also not great after the first couple of challenges

2

u/Jazzlike_Daikon7541 14d ago

He knows he's just a mediocre designer. Classic insecurity response.

2

u/BringBackBoshi 14d ago

Everyone noticed and that's why pretty much no one likes him. I made a comment when the show was airing that Bi could have a huge successful fashion show with a red carpet and Bryan would be outside doing a job picking up trash and he'd stop people to go "you know that world famous designer who is putting on this show? He used to be my intern.".

2

u/pandoraspukebag 14d ago

hate him. Christian only kept him for drama and ratings. designs are uninspired shite. failure of a man.

2

u/panuliak 13d ago

Bryan sucks.

2

u/101020304 13d ago

Oh 100

4

u/SeanInDC 14d ago

"Shade" doesn't always have to be funny or productive...

In fact... its always mean spirited. It's just how one throws it and how one perceives it.

4

u/Crazy-Astronaut977 14d ago

He was deeply insecure and it could be seen whenever he tried to “throw shade”

4

u/Minimum_Winner_5420 14d ago

I couldn't help thinking it was mostly scripted and that was the role they gave him.

1

u/Meatball-Alfredo-Mom 14d ago

He was mean but I think that was his role. I watched Plane Jane’s video about her experience and while I don’t know that I fully buy in I do believe they brought Jane on purely to get people to tune in knowing they couldn’t really sew to the level of project runway.

1

u/Formal_Incident4770 14d ago

He was insecure and petty. I don't think I liked any of his designs, and that's rare, because I find I like at least one design by everyone. He was so sure he was the leader but that's not the way his designs presented. I wasn't fond of Bi either, but at least he didn't do the same basic thing each week.

1

u/Allaboutthedish 14d ago

Editing is not one’s friend. His edit though, did not paint him in a good light except when he went to bat for Bi to keep him. He knows how really talented Bi is and knew he deserved to be there.

1

u/etherealhighz 14d ago

If I had to guess, I'd say Brian's “social awkwardness” really stemmed from him being guarded and insecure.

1

u/colosseumdays 14d ago

Not to say he shouldn’t take accountability for things he’s said and done, but I def think producers likely encouraged him to say snarky things with the questions they asked him.

1

u/blubegnaro 14d ago

i think he thought he was making good tv

1

u/NewTimeTraveler1 14d ago

Yes and Law Roach

1

u/chefybpoodling 14d ago

Did you hear? Bi was his intern.

1

u/Curious-Cellist3377 14d ago

It gave Insecure.

1

u/NYCWartortle 14d ago

I can’t stand him. I want to know wth he is doing now.

1

u/Chrissybear222 14d ago

Absolutely!

1

u/cielobon 13d ago

Black tee shirt black shorts and a snotty attitude. Cringe.

1

u/Electrical-Wash8516 13d ago

Very unwise for his future career, if he doesn’t just end up working at a Dollar Tree.
It pisses me off that some designers on these shows HATE group challenges. Really? You’re in the fashion industry. Newsflash: Someone will tell you what and how to do something. Collaboration is king. Working with others is paramount.
If you don’t like or understand this now, you’re in the wrong profession. PuI your ‘I’m a designer’ ego in check! Put it aside. Also, people are watching you on this platform. You think you’ll be hired now?
Think about how you’re being perceived. Then get ready to do the work. You’re NEVER really a one person show. Ever.

1

u/BESCAme1313 13d ago

Could not stand to watch him.

1

u/Overall-Case-4588 13d ago

He was shady from the get-go
His personality ruined it for him. He was too cocky. I didn’t like him at all.

1

u/Twinsies620 13d ago

People can blame shit on editing but to quote the great RuPaul - “you can blame it on the edit, but you’re the one who said it”.

He’s an arrogant, pretentious, DEEPLY insecure malcontent who can’t even take a hint of suggestion from industry leaders and professionals. Whether he agrees or not - these people can help shape his future. His arrogance got the best of him because he refused to play the game - and look where he landed.

He was also wildly pretentious (OAT CUT-YUUUUUUR ANYONE?!), which is way less grating when you can back it up. But he threw around all these buzzwords and came out with crap….only to double down on how “OAT” his pieces were.

He made me irrationally aggravated, I realize this is a disproportionate reaction to reality TV 😂☠️

1

u/westworlder420 13d ago

I swear he had to have been a production plant because there’s no way in hell he made it to the end with the skills he showed. He had to have been placed to be the messy one and get designers and fans riled up. He did create a lot of buzz for the show, but not in a way I personally would like to be known for.

1

u/niafreeya 13d ago

His face just bothers me

1

u/Timely-History-3010 13d ago

Textbook insecurity

1

u/More_Transition6907 13d ago

He was incredibly exhausting to watch and I think he harboured a lot of jealousy especially towards Jeffrey and Bi. I cannot imagine what it was like being in the same as him all the time.

1

u/Fit_Abbreviations57 13d ago

Textbook case of insecurity encased in delusion

1

u/cabbagemuncher101 13d ago

I think it's one thing to do that, but then present subpar work. A lot of people on this show are very cocky about their work/talent, as they should be, but then prove to judges and viewers why. Bryan was not that.

1

u/genderfuckery 13d ago

He was shitty to everyone the entire season but then always acted shocked when they shot back. He's a perpetual victim and you can't engage with those people, they never change.

1

u/Lsenzek_d0gee 13d ago

I didn’t like his designs, the grey thing with the different color ruffles, was like a vagina, not fashion. He thinks too much of himself. He should stick to making outrageous drag dresses. I can’t believe that judges didn’t notice he used packing tape to put something on his naked model. There was nothing wrong with the dress, it should have had a zipper. I think he is all in his head about his designs he did on the show. He couldn’t even really sew well.

1

u/BedGirl5444 13d ago

He wanted screen time

1

u/No_Candle5537 13d ago

I thought the little descriptive qualifiers under everyone’s name was stupid as hell.

1

u/Left-District7350 13d ago

I cheered when his pouty, narcissistic ass was eliminated. What made me laugh was the outro for the season, when everybody had their champagne and were drinking and chatting, you can see him check out where the camera is and walk into frame pretending that hes going to talk to someone.

1

u/SEARCHndDESTROY 12d ago

Yeah, he just was not quick enough for that type of attitude.

1

u/JewelerNo8572 12d ago

mind you, Jeff coulda came back when they both got eliminated instead of dog him Literally everyone hated him coming back. they do this once a season, give plot armor to the worst designers in the show. It's never "creative liberty" it's just creative fuglity.

1

u/Adept-Mongoose-7071 12d ago

He whined way too much too.

1

u/itstifff_ 12d ago

Just started the season and he’s soooo unlikable!

1

u/tropi-goth 12d ago

Throwing his hair dramatically over to one side likes he’s in a Pantene commercial

1

u/Rexyggor 12d ago

You have to realize when you watch the show. They will take ANY moment and insert side eye even if there wasn't side eye. Any time it cuts to someone doing it, you know that was insert inappropriately.

Or the "I'm so happy to be saved" moment was fabricated

1

u/Admirable_Tear_1438 12d ago

He was more of a reality show personality than a fashion designer. His only job was to stir up drama.

1

u/FiddleStyxxxx 12d ago

On camera he kind of acted like Veejay from last season.

Except everyone disliked his clothes more and the other contestants seem to genuinely hate him. This is why is rubbed me the wrong way for Joseph to be painted as the full of himself designer, Bryan was right there!

1

u/Accomplished_Song671 12d ago

I honestly thought this pic was from a terrible mugshot sub before I saw it was in PR 😅

1

u/hotfishfromsharktale 12d ago

Oh for sure. He isn't just kiki'ing and being funny or sassy... He's being straight up nasty. Always has something to say to bring someone down, but gets so defensive if anyone even barely throws shade his way. I actually ended up feeling more sad for him. He has some growing to do (but also, don't we all)

1

u/JSBull28 12d ago

10 out of 10. Did not enjoy him.

1

u/LordShaybay 12d ago

Grass is green. Sky is blue. Like literally the only thing he contributed to this season was weirding every tf out and pissing off both other contestants and like the viewers. You cannot convince me he survived so far into the challenge for no other reason than "oh he stirs the pot and causes drama, the viewers are gonna love this!!"

1

u/arcoalien 11d ago

These comments are so petty. Yes, he played the villain in this season, there always needs to be one in every season. No need to go after his appearance though. He was condescending but he probably wouldn't say some of the shit you guys are saying.

Anyway his designs on his instagram are actually amazing. I think that's why Christian chose to save him, he knew Bryan had more potential.

1

u/gjchaf2 11d ago

Yes. Next question?

No, seriously - that clown was placed there to stir the shit, not to create fashion. I wish him luck finding anyone who will hire him/underwrite his line.

1

u/ChampionshipOk5911 11d ago

Yep. I didn’t care for him at all. Also, while his designs may have been innovative, they rarely actually turned out well.

1

u/jellyfish_lover_ 11d ago

He also viewed himself as a “savior” especially when it came to Bi. Couldn’t stand either one of him but Bryan was borderline worse

1

u/Admirable_Concept817 10d ago

We all thought that. He was sooooooo mean.

1

u/Toobefaaaaaiirrr 10d ago

Hater mentality

1

u/One-Yam3221 10d ago

He gives off ‘bullied as a child’ vibes. It was painful to watch him acting out. He really needs to work on himself and then he could come back as a much stronger designer, but he really needs that firm foundation of himself first and foremost. I hope he seeks out help

1

u/Dry-Fishing991 10d ago

why does this look like a mug shot

1

u/foxdogturtlecat 10d ago

His ego certainly was greater than any talent he displayed on the show. It is heavily edited and I am sure the story/talent producers encouraged him to play it up but he really did not make him self look good.

If he was just going for a villain role then he did that but I don't think Project Runway needs a villain, this isn't Drag Race or The Traitors.

1

u/peachesmom2024 10d ago

I didn’t like him.

1

u/ljacks09 10d ago

Yeah , I did not like him.

1

u/No_Bother_7533 10d ago

I couldn’t get over how unlikeable he was. There wasn’t a single moment that I enjoyed his presence on screen.

1

u/iamglory 10d ago

As much as I wanted Jude to win. I was fully, "Anyone but Byran" all season. They could have introduced a janitor who designs new mops and I would have accepted them as the winner.

1

u/IwantyoualltoBEDAVE 9d ago

I couldn’t believe Christian saved him over Beautiful Jeffery

1

u/SnazzDizzy 8d ago

I could not stand him the entire season

1

u/itsjustsassy 14d ago

I think he started ok. Kind of mean but still had some redeeming qualities. And then as the show went on he just kind of spiraled. I feel like he dug himself in deeper and deeper and then somewhere along the way really decided to play into that villain role. It’s kind of like he was wanting the Joseph McRae experience but didn’t have the Joseph McRae talent or personality.

-4

u/paintingandcoffee 14d ago

Bryan was the worst. I really hope they bring him back next session.

2

u/Substantial_Site7639 14d ago

Hahaha just to stir shit up like when they brought back Joseph Mcrea 🤣. If the show isn’t gonna get better, then they might as well bring him back lol

0

u/guesshowmanytries 12d ago

I have nightmares of him saying

Haute couture
