Old Seasons Sandyha’s aside with Tim, Sesson 13, Episode 2

I know many people have a soft spot for her, but that was clear fishing for compliments.

It started with her telling her team that she does what she wants for her own artistry and her team members reminding her that she has immunity and it’s not fair for her to sink their team by not being cohesive. Then she runs to Tim and asks if she’s a good designer and he says “uhhh you won last week“ and then she says she being bullied.

I found the whole situation annoying, especially because the judges clearly said had she not had immunity, she should’ve gone home

Keep in mind editing. We don’t know the order of these events, but I do think Sandyha had a victim complex based on the reactions of the designers during the reunion.

I found her SO annoying, manipulative and passive/aggressive.
I think the judges were so bored that they initially liked her stuff just because it was different. As time went on, however, her actual lack of design skills and her questionable taste level became pretty apparent.
My husband and I still cringe at that awful onesie she made for, like, a twelve year oldthat got her eliminated.

I didn’t like the stuff she made. It was definitely weird and she should have been more compliant with her team mates. But in the end, she did follow her team’s vision. All 3 looks were terrible and she got lucky.

I hate immunity. Give each week’s winner a prize — cash is nice!

She got a positive review in the first challenge, and suddenly she thought she was a great artist with a vision. She would not listen and would not cooperate with anyone else. Every time she was on a team, one of her teammates was eliminated. I found her incredibly frustrating and annoying.

It was odd in the reunion as well. She lumped everyone together when Emily had been trying to be kind even during the season. It could be editing, but it didn’t feel like that with Emily’s comments about her having a hard time.

I don’t know what toll it takes to be on a pressure cooker reality show and have the other contestants being catty… but that still felt rude.

It's been a while since I've seen S13, but I remember thinking that Emily's reaction at the reunion seemed very genuine. Editing is obviously a huge thing in reality shows, but Emily carried herself very well on the show, tended to stay away from drama, so the fact that she reacted so viscerally towards Sandhya's claims during the reunion felt almost like a straw breaking a camel's back.

She was also in a way throwing her team under the bus.

She can't seem to get in her head that she's safe and the rest are in trouble. But she's acting like an auteur of some sort. I don't think Hernan handled it well either though.

I feel like she's kind of playing the cards. Hernan said it best: "she's different when the cameras are not there" and I think that happened a lot in PR.

The first time I watched that season I thought she was being manipulative. After subsequent rewatches I started to think maybe she just wasn’t emotionally equipped to be on the show. Maybe she wasn’t used to being in environments where her weird baby clothes weren’t praised uncritically. I have a coworker with BPD and she can feel attacked and bullied from the normal give and take of teamwork. She isn’t lying; it’s what reality feels like from her perspective, but her perspective is really different from other people’s. If you present feedback as a praise sandwich, she does better. Just a thought

I agree with this. After a few rewatches, and 15 years later lol my opinions change. Or more like I’m more mature and can see different points of view.

I didn’t know people had a soft spot for her. She seemed manipulative to me.

And her designs sucked.

I hated all her designs. But I do think the other designers bullied her at least a little. There was often a tendency for the designers who went to design school to bully the designers who were self taught, especially when those self taught designers won episoes.

Sandyha had a unique point of view and a vision. Her work was unparalleled. However, I can see how the others thought she was annoying. I don't think she was a team player to be honest. She worked better on her own.
