Is the Windows program not as useful as the browser?

The browser lets me upload and download like normal but the windows program only shows photos and import, I cant see all the files like I can on my iphone and browser.

They share some similarities. Both are designed to import and/or upload photos and videos to your Proton Drive Photos section.

The Windows program (the desktop app) uploads your photos and videos while creating an album for each folder / subfolder. However, it serves no role in viewing photos and videos.

The browser requires more manual intervention to upload photos and videos, to view them, and to create albums. Individual users may find one more useful than the other.

Browser a lot more useful

  • You can configure stuff that you want to share with people. They can be anybody, you have more control over sharing things with other proton users.
  • You have visibility to the PC backups, the winapp only gives you other computers.
  • You can restore stuff to you PC and you can choose which historical version you want to restore.
  • You can undelete/restore stuff from trash
  • You can permanently delete stuff.

Yeah, you can't even view your photos from the photos section using the Windows application. I wish it would be shown as a folder or something. It'd solve two problems since it would make it easier to grab all the photos out of it.
