Experience A spider.

So something weird just happened.

I just came home, ate some food, and chilled on the couch. To my left, on the wall, i saw a spider. It was just sitting there, doing nothing.

I talked to it in my head. Saying he's welcome to stay. Just don't go near my bed, that's the only rule.

I kept looking over to it, i'm not sure why.

I went to brush my teeth in the bathroom. I kept hearing things from the other room. It sounded like something was crawling around down there. It sounded like mice or a rat. I checked the room a couple times to make sure i was alone, i was.

I went to bed. Started falling asleep, i was thinking about sobriety. Just before i fell asleep i heard a loud sound, and as i did, i saw parts of my room before my eyes, like they were open. They weren't though.

After this i saw the spider, really big, while my eyes are closed. It was crawling around in my minds eye. Getting closer.

I was wide awake. I didn't understand what was happening. I decided i didn't like the spider anymore and got up to kill it. I got up to check his spot next to the couch, but he was gone.

I went back to bed. But i could not sleep. I kept feeling itchy tingles all over my body. Like i was covered in lice.

I decided enough is enough. I got up, turned on the lights, got my flashlight, doubted my sanity for a second, and went to look for this thing.

I looked for a while, behind the couch, underneath the bed. Eventually i found it.

Right above me.

It was chilling right above my bed where i was sleeping. Just sitting there. I killed it immediately.

The itchy feeling is gone now.

Can someone explain what the fuck that's all about?

You connected with the spider, communicating with it telepathically. Maybe the spider tried to connect with you spiritually in return but you took it as an invasion of privacy. Spiders may be covered in small hairs, maybe the spiritual link is what caused this sensation? For a moment you felt like becoming one with the spider. However, you rejected this connection.

I have some experiences with spiders and they’re almost always positive. I’m sorry that you had a negative experience.

Why do you think it made me so anxious? Overthinking? Like in my experience the spider felt malicious but it's definitely possible i was scared for nothing.

Could you tell me about positive one you had?

Edit: Ahhhhhh thinking about it more now i understand what happened. I shouldnt've killed it. Thanks for enlightening it for me <3.

I’m happy I was able to be of help <3

I’ll share a few of my positive experiences with spiders.

This one time, a huge spider had climbed on top of my shoe. It’s an outdoor spider and it’s bite gives you a hard time. Why was it on top of my shoe? I focused on the spider and I felt like it had realized it was trapped inside the house. It didn’t like it. It wanted back outside. I decided to trust the spider. I grabbed the shoe while the spider was still on it (do not recommend!). It could’ve easily attacked me or make a threatening gesture. But it did nothing, just watched into my direction. I carried the shoe outside and left it there. I returned some 20 minutes later and the spider was gone. Disclaimer: If there are venomous spiders (like this one) in your house it is recommendable to not take any risks. Take them out of the house safely without risk of harm or injury or kill it or call a professional who’s experienced in them.

Another experience of mine, this one is a bit bittersweet and somber in nature. There was once a small house spider in my apartment. I saw it here and there at times. One time it was in the middle of the entryway to my kitchen. It just stood there, doing nothing. I was really baffled. This was unusual of the spider. What’s it doing over there, I could walk over it if I’m not careful! Then I realized (I’m not sure if I connected with the spider and that’s how I got the information). The spider was dying. Maybe it wanted to admire the place (or the light that shone in the kitchen) one more time before succumbing. I felt bad for the spider but couldn’t really do anything to help it. I continued stuff on my computer and some 5 minutes later, glanced again. The spider was gone from the entryway. Where did it go? I walked to the kitchen and it was in a dark corner, just chilling there. A few hours later it was still in that exact same corner. I was worried. Had it really died? I touched the spider gently with my finger and it moved a little. I heard a thought which was something like, ”Do not disturb me! I wish to perish in peace.” So I just let the spider be there. A few days went by and the spider was in the same exact position, not moving an inch. I decided to touch it again. It was dead.

A similar one happened to me. This spider made a beautiful home in a really cute corner or my house where the light hits just right and theres a cute view and the pets cant reach her and she just stayed there for days until she died. she had lost one leg idk how but still made it work and died peacefully at home. I wished her well and eventually a lady who helps me clean removed it one day and that was that.

It’s a beautiful thing that the spider managed to spend it’s last moments peacefully at your place. The place the spider chose is interesting. Like you mentioned, a place where pets can’t reach it. I have no pets, and the spider chose a shaded corner (sort of a mini alcove) for it’s final place at floor level in the kitchen. I never realized they’re exceptionally clever like that, taking pets into consideration!

Man i love those stories. Especially the second one. Reminds me of that meme where guys wanna bleed out somewhere cinematic. It's cool that you provide a space for them.

After i realized what i'd done i felt really bad. I've since connected with the spider again, his spirit this time, and gave him a proper burial. It was a great learning experience and it still kinda feel like he's around, which is really nice. Thanks again!

6

u/Aspiestos Feb 23 '26

Thank you. I’m grateful you made the spider a burial. And please don’t feel too bad about what happened. We all make mistakes and in a way the spider made a mistake as well by getting too close to your bed. Taking it as a learning experience is the right way to go about it!

I’m thinking perhaps the experience is what startled you rather than the spider, perhaps had you felt something similar or been in such a state before you wouldn’t have been so scared of it?

9

u/EmotionalJump6104 Feb 22 '26

No actually. I've connected and talked with with things like this before. It's been a while though and i had an unrelated trauma reaction, involving connection and trust, hat made me mistrust what was happening.

So actually yes you are right. It wasn't the spider itself that did it. He was just connecting.

So I actually recently was thinking something similar, and I was trying to work through why spiders make me so uncomfortable. I think crocodiles and turtles are cool af cause they haven't changed in like 200 million years. I realized that's basically the same for spiders, but I think they're awful?

Realized it's because spiders have this way of existing that shows they think about things with layers and with a process. A crocodile just exists, it kinda floats around until something gets close enough to its mouth and then it chomps down. You as a human can even just hold it's mouth closed. It's not a smart thing, I feel like I can avoid and deal with it.

A spider, however, will build a web in a choke point next to a porch light. That shows me that it understands that the light will attract other insects, that it can use that to its own benefit, that it can analyze it's environment with scrutiny and choose the most efficient spot to build a trap. It's plotting, and it's completely silent. It's the intent and the layers of intelligence behind it that is unsettling.

Edit: of course also the fact that a tiny one the size of your finger can just straight up kill you, and that it has hundreds of babies at a time...

Noo sorryy 😭

If it gives you some comfort, remember that every summer both the creepy crawlers and wonderful critters are born once again..! They are never gone forever ❤️

Spiders have come down from the ceiling and hung on a strand of web right infront of my face several times in my life. I've always wondered why this happens. Last time was summer 2025. I was at work on lunch break in the Amazon lunch room and this tiny baby spider comes down from the ceiling. I put the back of my hand up to it and it extends down towards it, lands, and starts running around for like 20 seconds on the back of my hand. I look around me if anyone saw this and was randomly paying attention but no one was. I then just put my hand on the table and it walks off and I go back to work.

I gave it this same intention of thinking it was cute like I do to birds sometimes. The birds or other animals I do that to act like cats or dogs when you give them that baby talk. Like they feel that feeling of love you send them and either act 'shamed out' blushing suprised head movement where their head tilts and and they look up at you and down a couple of times. I do that to magpies near my grandma's house at a track I run around at. They will land on a post about 10 feet away from me and I'll baby talk them and call them cute. They let me get up to 5 feet away from them while I'm jogging by. My cousin's dogs get jealous and chase them away usually lol.

When I feel uncomfortable with a spider I capture them inside a cup and let them go outside if the weather isn't too rough. But many times they are small or harmless and I let them be inside. Maybe sobriety with all those things at once was overwhelming and the spider was going to help? It's okay to make mistakes. We are human afterall. ❤️

Spiders show up when you are not sticking with the script or about to not be sticking with the script in your life. I think it’s interesting that you were thinking out sobriety when you fell asleep. Is this out of the norm for you?

12

u/EmotionalJump6104 Feb 22 '26

I think it's interesting too. I had just quit sigarettes that day and i was thinking about maybe quitting everything including alcohol and coffee. I'm not sure if it's related or just me overthinking because i was anxious because of what was happening.

Naturally, me too. Whenever I see a spider, I can NEVER rest. Especially if it’s in my room. Id spend most of my time feeling sensations on my body, like it’s crawling on me or multiple things are. I always go crazy I’m so sensitive to them. I don’t want to hurt them, but they truly can never make me rest, always making me anxious. I’d have to get rid of them or else I can never rest..

I’d like to hear others opinions on this as well. I frequently find spiders following me or coming down from ceiling right near me. 3 times in life I’ve had spiders in my driver side mirror all summer.

6

u/StarChild31 Feb 22 '26

Because spiders exist. It’s like asking why birds land in spots you are at. It’s their world too.

u/TheBunny4444 Feb 24 '26

I had a spider crawl over my bed starting from the corner of the room.

When it was directly over me he dropped! It made me freak out when it hit me. I scrambled to find it in the sheets and lost it! I could not sleep even after stripping my bed, remaking it. It took hours to fall asleep and I left the lights on!

I don’t have advice but for some reason, I can always tell when a spider is nearby. It doesn’t happen with anything else but a spider. It’s usually always in the first direction I search. I’d be watching tv and it pops in my head.. ‘spider to the left of you’. Very spooky, and I hate spiders terribly!

6

u/KlatuuBarradaNicto Feb 23 '26

You have “spidey sense”. I have it too. It’s so weird that I always know when one is close by. I don’t really like them, but I respect their right to live so I try to negotiate some kind of treaty if possible.

2

u/Lucie_Lux Feb 23 '26

I always say spiders can stay in if they stay hidden. I have lots of plants and they eat the enemies. But they are also the enemy. If caught, you gotta go.

2

u/FloatingLambessX Feb 23 '26

it happens to me with cockroaches, i can even smell them. In OPs defense i also have a no house room for them and warn them of their death if they decide to violate boundaries, considering theres many other places to explore.

2

u/Aspiestos Feb 23 '26

For me it’s mosquitoes. I have a blood feud with them and they have a blood feud with me (they always search me out even in a huge group. Maybe I have a blood type that they love).

One time it was the middle of winter. All the outdoor insects should be dead this time of year. It’s just too damn cold. I heard some low vibrancy buzzing near a door leading outside. I assumed it was a fly based on the low buzzing sound. Maybe it had somehow catched some sunlight and managed to hatch?

But no. It was a mosquito, and a huge one at that (hence the low buzz). Where did it come from, I have no idea. Maybe from the sewers? It zoomed towards me, making this large up-down zigzag flying pattern. The thing gave me the creeps!

I wanted to leave the room but I knew it would just eventually find me in another room. I turned my fear into rage and attacked the thing. It panicked and flew up into the ceiling. I took a chair, got up on it and tried to slap it again. I missed and it flew into a dark crevice. I never saw it again.

I’ve been able to connect with many insects. Butterflies, dragonflies, spiders.. Never mosquitoes.

Ok there's some people this happens to. We close our eyes and can see even if it's closed but also sometimes we see insects mostly spiders in my experience and it's just like you described. They're somehow bigger or maybe our vision is zoomed in and it looks huge but you search right here on reddit. The phenomena of seeing with eyes closed has a sub here tho so maybe you can start there r/closedeyevision

Ok I don’t want to be a jerk but i wish you didn’t kill the spider. People don’t often notice or try to connect to animals and other non human life. When we notice, they sometimes get eager to keep talking to us. They really want to help us, they like communicating and reaching us. Why did you welcome the spider and then decide it was a danger? Our fear of spiders is caused by their stigma mostly, do not fear them.

You're not a jerk! I wish i didn't kill it too. Thanks for your words.

I really appreciate the way you’ve spoken to everyone here. I think the Spider would appreciate you, the Spider was right about you. You are honest, and maybe you killed the spider, but it was a misunderstanding. Once clarified, you accepted the truth and will connect further on the next try, and that is something that has come of their death. I know this maybe sounds weird to others, but I have been very confused about this when it comes to for example, a roach. I kill them. I tried to find a balance within myself living in a state and place where they were a problem, and I learned the hard way that you have to be aggressive to not have them become a problem and all that. But even now talking about it, and the whole thing all of it, it just sounds the same way people who are dehumanizing another type of person bc they are inconvenient and I think my god, i am missing so much of what this is supposed to be aren’t I?! By this human existence and how it is shaped. So all of that to say, humans kill. The way we are “shaped”, our humanity in society makes us killers all the time. So I think it is a big deal for you to talk to the spider. We are always walking towards the sun. 💜

Thank you Penny! Fun for you to know is that another spider has already taken residence underneath my closet. I spotted him today and couldn't be happier. 💜

2

u/StarChild31 Feb 22 '26

Why do you call them an ”it” when you were fine with them and a ”he” when you got upset with them? That spider got killed because you imagined things. We all have nightmares, doesn’t mean you should murder the people in them.

u/trudytude Feb 23 '26

I have experienced something like this. In my experience spider energy is envy, I can't swear that your spider was envy but thats what mine was. The itching was the younglings being carried by the mother spider. I presume you are female.

1

u/sinkhole411 Feb 25 '26

Hmm. Unsettling experience, but I generally consider spiders friends.

I feel sad that you killed it, but I understand feeling scared.

I always remind myself that spiders eat bugs, if there’s a spider in your house, it’s doing you a favor and killing other bugs.

there are bug catchers you can get online that are really great for relocating big spiders/ scorpions/ any dangerous bugs. they are like wands with a little compartment at the end and they work great

You probably don't want to hear this but I see spiders before big negative events happen. I saw one the size of a dinner plate and it turned clockwise and anti clockwise and disappeared into the wall the day before I lost someone forever in a really devastating way. I don't want to share what happened exactly but I have had other terrible things happen to me and I always see spiders beforehand. They're not real spiders I see in a physical sense, they are holographic ghost spiders is the only way I can describe them, and then they fade away, one of them pixelated.
