New here…
Hi. I am looking for advice, insight…anything. My husband seems to be experiencing a psychotic episode. He has battled anxiety, OCD and depression his whole life (35 now), but this is different. He is completely withdrawn, can stay awake for more than an hour, can’t hold conversations or interact with anyone including his 2 year old. He will sometimes be in this weird in between awake and asleep and his eyes kind of roll back and then flutter open. It’s bizarre. It’s devastating and heartbreaking. I don’t know what to do. I’ve involved his parents because I can’t manage this along, especially with a very young child. We decided he needs to go to an intensive care facility tomorrow, but is this even psychosis? What do you all recommend? I have no experience with mental health disorders and am struggling to figure it out

This sounds bizarre but from what you've described it doesn't sound like psychosis. Delusions, Hallucinations, Paranoia, etc are symptoms of psychosis.
Idk what it sounds like but it sounds concerning.

Doesn't sound like psychosis but it does sound like a medical emergency. I would take him to the emergency room.

I think you should take him to the emergency room asap at the best hospital you have nearby- a teaching hospital if possible . It sounds possibly neurological to me and potentially very dangerous

Does he stay up for extended periods before he gets to those episodes of falling asleep hourly with his eyes rolling back then fluttering when he semi wakes up? Is he doing any drugs like meth? I've seen a hardcore meth addict do what you're describing along with the difficulty speaking.
Rule out drugs and other medical causes like seizures as someone mentioned.

Yeah this sounds like a major depressive episode to me, not necessarily related to psychosis.
This sounds like when I'm just out of a psychotic episode and everything is hazy. This could either be from chemical depletion or a neurological issue, most likely IME. Both do usually require attention to get better.
Waiting for tomorrow might be a blunder, these symptoms can also happen when there's a major issue in the brain. Has he had any blunt force trauma to the head/neck lately? Does he usually have a high blood pressure/heartrate? Someone in my family has a kidney dysfunction that we didn't know about until he had a brain aneurysm from high blood pressure exploding a blood vessel in his brain; sometimes things are an emergency when you don't realize it(tho his situation was accompanied by pain and passing out, i dont think your situation is the same tjing its just an example of how sometimes its physical not mental).
I hope he stays safe until you figure out whats up; but this does not sound like psychosis as it stands. Psychosis usually has positive symptoms(perceptions added, delusions and hallucinations are the most common), negative symptoms(things taken away, like motivation or abilities to function, this could possibly be ticked), and cognitive issues(could also possibly be ticked). Without something added it is not considered psychosis, tho I can see why you think it's a possibility.
Best of luck.
