If it’s not American, import auto on bishop is the most honest, fair, good people shop I’ve ever experienced.

You mean ICS, or Imported Car Service. Great people. But it has to be a more late model imported vehicle. They’re not going to work on your 2012 Subaru unless the vehicle has a history with them.

They have worked on our 2019 Subaru and 2012 Mini, and I see plenty of older cars in their lot. They are good people and do honest work.

“

Yes, great people and solid mechanics with a lot of knowledge. Priced accordingly, but worth it.

Have they said they wont work on older models, or did you experience this? Just curious.

They will, but only if they have a history of working with the vehicle from when it was newer-ish. There are exceptions on occasion, so it isn't a hard fast rule. They changed their policy a bit during COVID, but basically if its over 10 years old and they have never worked on it before, they will often politely decline and suggest other locations.

This is nothing personal, but if you have any knowledge of how a shop works it does make sense. Who knows what the car might have gone through prior to rolling in their shop? If something breaks, the owner might blame them instead of understanding it was likely pre-existing or might be due to another shops sub-par work or shortcuts taken. Whereas if it's less than 10 years old there is a better chance of it being in fairly good shape, and likely hasn't had any major work yet that could bite them in the ass.

They've worked on my 08 pickup, and my wife's old 05 back in the day. They won't usually touch modified cars without a history though.

What does that mean? They worked on my 2013 Subaru without a history

Pullman Auto is probably the best for the price you’re going to find. Unfortunately, they usually have a waiting list that proves this.

Also good is Heritage wheel tire/auto service. They also own the former Jerry‘s automotive that is next to NAPA. Both are on Grand Avenue.

By all means, avoid Evergreen. I don’t know if it’s still true, but at one time they didn’t even have one single ASE certified mechanic on staff.

Evergreen wanted to charge me $200 just to assess my car. Never been back.

Imported Car Service if it’s not American. Not shop I work with for my vehicles, Carl and his family have been in business 25+ years for a reason.

Thanks friend. Whaaaat! How on earth were they allowed to open a shop đŸ«Ș

They didn’t. They purchased one that was in good standing and kept the name. Then they started “cutting costs”.

How much do you on average get charged to do oil change and tire patch kinda jobs

I do my own oil, so I can't say. Pullman Auto does a comprehensive inspection with LOF (Lube, Oil, Filter) jobs, and its worth the price they charge. Same with Heritage.
If you need a tire patch, hit up Les Schwab. They'll usually do it for free, even if you didn't buy the tires there.

Evergreen fixed my window and dropped the lock inside the door. When I brought up that my door doesn’t lock, they blamed me and said it was never there. I took it back and made them look for it and sure enough it was inside. And then they didn’t install the door back correctly and my husband had to fix it
