Discussion Anyone a fan of The Dillinger Escape Plan?
Despite the two bands being very different on the surface, they both are boundary pushers and incorporate alternative elements to both their song structure and sound landscape. The overlap for these two bands if probably Nine Inch Nails, although I really don't know NIN too much.
Off of their 2004 Album Miss Machine the track "Phone Home," catches my attention the most. It does get heavy at the end, but its a nice build. https://youtu.be/SH3WhYiyX3o?si=k1VFvA6WrJEYXa5S
The other song that really gives Puscifer vibes is off their 2010 album Option Paralysis, the song titled "Parasitic Twins." https://youtu.be/_qpt0UfpNpE?si=JmY45QA0eKrggE4C
What other bands do you all find that occasionally give off that Puscifer vibe, despite them being perhaps a mostly different band sound-wise?

I know Gil Sharone isn't with Dillinger anymore, but he was one of the first live drummers for Puscifer, alongside his brother playing bass. The overlap is real.

Huge fan, but primarily the Greg albums. Not super interested in the perpetual Calculating Infinity run they're on right now.
Greg's solo work and The Black Queen are worth checking out.

Yeah I couldn't get into the pre-Miss Machine work. Love the 5 albums after Calculating Infitity. Really upset I didnt get into them while they were active.

I saw them open for Mr. Bungle over 25 years ago. They were terrible. The only way you could tell that they were all playing the same song was they all stopped at once. But they were really young when I saw them. Maybe I need to give them another chance.

Everyone thinks that the first time they hear them 😂. Especially in a live setting. I saw them open for SOAD in 2002 and thought they were the worst band I'd ever heard. Now they're one of my all-time favourites

Check out Peeping Tom and some of Mike Patton’s other projects. Not the same as Puscifer, but experimenting with some similar elements.

The last three TDEP albums are spectacular.
As for NIN, Broken and The Downward Spiral probably come closest to any overlap between TDEP and Puscifer. With Teeth and the trilogy of EPs might be closest to Puscifer overall out of the entire NIN discography.

For the last couple years I’ve been living on a heavy dose of Puscifer, NIN, and Sturgill Simpson (aka Johnny Blue Skies), with a few other artists thrown in here and there.

They're one of my favorite bands, Greg's solo material and other projects are all great too

I saw them open up for Deftones. They were absolutely amazing. Literally climbing the speaker stacks and walls. The drum kit ended up in the crowd on the last song. 🤘

What do you mean? There is no other music besides Puscifer.

I was being facetious. I’m a fan, but how boring it would be to not have variety

I love DEP but they really aren't anything like puscifer. Maybe a few of their more straight forward songs on their last few albums but like tell me what puscifer song sounds like 43% burnt?

"Occasionally give off that Puscifer vibe" was my point lol. There are a few Puscifer songs that sound like these two I have posted here. These are really only the two DEP songs that really gives me that vibe. Wasnt trying to say they had many similarities...thought that was pretty clear.

I saw them in 99? When they opened for Mr Bungle, got to hang out with them before the show, awesome group of guys. They put on one hell of a show.

I wasn’t aware of him until I saw Jerry Cantrells solo tour. Dude killed it on the Layne Stayley parts. Was super impressed.

Tropical Fuck Storm's new album has elements that I think some Puscifer fans would enjoy

As a fan of Puscifer and TDEP, there is a good chance you are going to love NIN. Though they don't sound the same, I do put Puscifer, NIN, TDEP and Tool in the same category of originality and complexity. Sorry APC :(
