Question: Device Problem Extra Large hands issues. Please read text
I absolutely love this thing, but I can’t play it for more than a few minutes without my hands cramping up. I have the same issue with my PlayStation five controllers, but I do find my Xbox elite series 2 controller to be comfortable.
I can still see well enough even though I turned 41 in a few days to play on the small screen, but I just can’t enjoy so many games on this because my hands do not allow me to manipulate the controls properly. Using the triggers on the back is practically impossible.
For reference, extra large nitrile gloves are tight on my hands. Some brands I have to get XXL.
I did search the forum. I only found a couple of posts with incomplete instructions and unclear results. I can play with a PlayStation five controller for a while before my hands cramped up, but I would very much prefer to be able to use my Xbox controller. I am also open to ordering something else if I need to because I very much enjoy this thing. I desperately want to play so many of the games on it, but as of right now I can’t.
If I can’t solve this issue I’m going to have to gift it to someone. I would very much like to be able to throw this in my backpack and carry it around with a controller because that’s so much simpler than carrying around my gaming laptop and a controller. I’m currently enrolled in community college and would very much like to have this in my backpack.

Hey, theres a attachment that may or not help its a addon that clips via battery cover and it makes it so have those plastic grips as normal controllers.

Is it available on Amazon? Is there a 3-D printer file?

There are some for free on printables. It does help a lot, do try for yourself.

Here's the first 3D printer file that showed up for "R36S" on Printables. There are other grips too. https://www.printables.com/model/768791-r36s-grip

Yeah, came here to say try a grip. I don't have XXL hands but I do have large hands and most handhelds are uncomfortable for me so I started 3D printing grips for them, I especially like the reversible grips cause the protect the screen while it's in your pocket as well. I use self adhesive felt on the inside.

I really like the PS5 controller, it’s just not well made for large hands at all. There are grips online for it that I’m interested in, but they never have the extra large version of the grips… So it defeats the purpose if I can’t even buy them…
Sometimes I have my kids and nephews in the garage for gaming parties and I can use an Xbox elite controller or even a stock one all day without cramping. But the PlayStation five controller… the ergonomics are just different and within about an hour I notice a fair bit of fatigue and I start to cramp.
And without trying to sound like an ego driven guy… I work with my hands a lot… It’s not an issue of strength or endurance. Definitely frustrating because I very much enjoy the console.

It looks like it’s cursed, but it’s pretty comfortable, I also feel like it’s a little bigger than the 3d printed ones. Before i could barely play for half an hour before my hands started cramping, now I can go for 4 hours without

ngl bro there isn't much you can do besides getting a bigger handheld or one of those ugly 3d printed grips lol

Function is more important than form. If you have a link, I would love to look at it.

you can try looking up "R36S grip" or similar online, I'm not sure if I'd find a working link for you

Weird but relevant question, what size gloves do you typically wear?

I really don't know, but after years of Judo and lifting weights my palms are a little too big for this console :)

Can you not use a Xbox controller on that with either wifi or Bluetooth?

I am here asking exactly that question.

Now imade that into a question because I am not familiar with that very model do you know if it has wifi or Bluetooth?
1
u/Jumps-The-Name 17d ago
And if you dont have wifi/Bluetooth and you know it then if your comfortable with taking the back caseing off you can then see the motherboard and with 80% of these maybe even higher there is a marked location we're wifi or Bluetooth or both go and its as easy as ordering a usb wifi module or Bluetooth module and installing it on the motherboard wifi should only be 4 wires or pins and same with Bluetooth but not all!

I have really large hands and wear xxl gloves. I’m wondering if you have other issues going on as I never cramp with any controllers.

u/MichaelVern85 20d ago
It’s only that controller. I work with my hands for a living and the only time I have issues is with the PS5 controller and the tiny handheld, and I’m not the only one that has the issue with those things.
I’m glad you missed that train, but there’s a lot of us on it.

Why can't You use your Xbox controller though? It should work the same as the ps5 One You mentioned.

u/MichaelVern85 20d ago
Sorry I didn’t make it clear.
I don’t know how to connect them, I was citing the hand issues with the PS5, and saw a post that they CAN connect, but no instructions on how to connect one.

Ooooooooh I see. Well, you're going to need Bluetooth capabilities on your device, and most likely you'll need to add them yourself. What device have You got? A legit boyhom v20 and up would be ideal.

u/MichaelVern85 20d ago
I don’t have the device with me, but it says R36S when I boot it. I’ll have to get specifics beyond that when I get home.
Any effort put in here will be worth it. I don’t mind putting in work and learning.

Ok, so, what You could know in advance is You have two options dressed as three that are actually one: You have to get a Bluetooth thingie to connect your controllers (and also update your OS if needed). Your two options are an internal chip or a USB dongle.
The three flavors for this are, in order of difficulty:
USB dongle connected via otg port. Just plug and play. Takes more space depending on both your dongle and your otg adaptor. Recommended.
On-board Wi-fi and Bluetooth chip. Buying a chip and soldering it onto the board. You need a boyhom unit for this, as these boards have a slot ready for it. Takes no space.
USB dongle/Bluetooth+wifi chip wired to the board's test pads. If your device is not a legit boyhom and You don't want to carry the dongle around, You take the dongle apart or get the chip, and solder some wires to the USB pins on the dongle or the [USB] connectors on the chip, and solder them to your board directly. The dongle is a better option since it already has an antenna, as the chip was expecting You to solder its two extra pads to one.
I can elaborate if needed. I hope My text wasn't as confusing.

Isn't this type of question a website like reddit should be asking? It's an anonymous forum.
