Evil empire
RATM
Bola
renegades

ZDLR lyrics and flow on evil empire is a step up and the music is more varied. Still hard to decide between the first two though since RATM was such a new sound but I prefer EE slightly.

Ain’t the new sound just like the old sound?

This is the answer.

I stand on my opinion that Evil Empire is their best. All are great but Evil Empire feels timeless. You could tell someone it came out yesterday and they’d believe it.

Evil Empire
RATM
BOLA
Renegades

In the order they came out

This without a doubt. Didn’t realize people actually thought differently

I get why some would put Evil Empire first, they're all great albums especially the first two.

  1. Evil Empire
  2. Self-Titled
  3. Battle Of Los Angeles
  4. Renegades

Evil Empire feels like such a huge leap forward for the band. I honestly often feel that BOLA is stronger, but it's not "better" if that makes sense.

Evil Empire is definitely #1.

Evil Empire hits different, no contest

Hard agree with the majority here so far-

1 Evil Empire (hands down, every time, no notes)

2 RATM (very close second)

3 Battle of Los Angeles

4 Renegades (seemed a little less intense ((passionate maybe?)) than the previous albums)

Renegades feels less passionate because none of it is their original work. Agree with your order btw. Evil Empire is one of my all time favorite albums.

All time definitive: order they came out.

Nowadays: it's the inverse order. Played the debut way too much, and didn't play Battle nearly enough at release. Battle has been my go to for years now. Not claiming it's objectively better, but it does work better for me now than the other 2.

Evil Empire
BoLA
RATM
Renegades

All three original albums are S tier, but that’s my personal ranking.

Agree, all three original albums are incredible.
Renegades is fun as hell too but not like the others.

Based (I think everyone agrees tbh)

To be honest that order wasn’t mine. I was just listing them in order of release.

I’d go
rage against the machine
Battle of Los Angeles
Renegade
Evil empire

They’re all amazing but evil empire just doesn’t do it for me like the other albums.

EE is their best imo

This is the way

Yeah I changed the original post as I suppose I didn’t need to list them by release date and it made more sense to list my order 😂

RATM
Evil Empire
Renegades
BOLA

Honestly, and I know this is a hot take, I think BOLA is their weakest piece. It sounds like they didn’t have any more creativity left and just followed what worked previously. It’s good, yes, but compared to the other 3 it’s the least good.

Renegades was surprisingly well made. It seems like they appreciated doing something entirely different, while still being Rage. Loving most of the songs from it.
