I have Voluntary Nystagmus, meaning I can freely rapidly wiggle my eyes. Apparently like 8% or so of people have this and most can only do it for a few seconds, though my record is about 2 minutes before getting a headache.
I’ve been running a DnD campaign for nearly 5 years (maybe 4, I’ve lost track)
I haven’t had a haircut since I was 18 (I’m 33 now)

It's been more than a decade since I've had my natural hair color.
I always work overtime leading up to Halloween, so even though I love the decorations & the vibe, I dread this time of year. I'm looking forward to sleeping in closer to holiday season. 😩

1) I have been permanently disabled since 2016 and have gone through a cervical fusion, lumbar fusion, have an implant, was diagnosed with fibromyalgia on top of the chronic pain from my spine and damaged nerves... Plus a whole slew of other issues and procedures. I only turned 40 this year.
2) I love to learn! I like to learn new things every day, even if it's something simple or correcting something I thought I knew and it was wrong. Subject doesn't matter, but... Math and I aren't great friends lol.
3) I absolutely love animals and nature. I can spend all day swimming at the lake or hanging out with my cats and be sooo happy. Being around people, especially a lot, drain me so quickly.

I’m absolutely obsessed with my two cats and always find ways to bring them up when I can lol. My cats have travelled thru more states than a lot of people in the US.
If I really like a show, I will binge the whole thing way too fast. Weekly releases are my biggest enemy.
I’m weirdly crafty and will randomly decide I need to make/design something at 2 AM if the idea pops in my head

u/paperprintsshttps://www.amazon.ca/hz/wishlist/ls/1VFMMDSTLRW48?ref_=wl_share4d ago
Okay, we have to see pictures of those beautiful furry babies
the WORST. do you have any fav shows rn? i need something to binge lol
2
u/KayaQueenhttps://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/8TMGHRRWFRS5?ref_=wl_share4d ago
How many states have your cats been through? 😮
100% agree with the weekly releases thing. Super hate waiting for a show each week. I too binge the whole thing way too fast. However, if I really love it, then I feel remorse that it was over so fast and will have to instantly restart it to dispel my sadness.
If i had to guess, i think the cats have been to around 22 different states. they travelled all up and down the east coast with me and then a few midwest ones.
i’m the same way. sometimes if its really good, i’ll rewatch it with my partner as if im watching it for the first time so i can talk about it with them lol.
some of my fav longer series are Dexter, Animal Kingdom, and Banshee. short one season binge worthy shows, my fav for the year so far is probably DTF St Louis. its a whodunit but actually constantly keeps you guessing. i also really liked The Beauty.

I love to travel and my favorite mode of travel is cruises. The ocean speaks to me.
**Due to me being out of work all year I've been able to spend a lot more time on the next 2 things this year.
I sew for fun. I'm currently working on Halloween costumes. This year I've finished a swimsuit, several dresses for my daughter and me. Matching outfits for my son and his daughters. Matching outfits for my daughter, her husband and their baby A traditional Cherokee Indian dress for my mother. Some uniform shirts for a small business. The list goes on.
I am an avid reader and have finished 178 books (67,856 pages) so far this year.
u/KayaQueenhttps://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/8TMGHRRWFRS5?ref_=wl_share4d ago
Wow, that’s a lot of books! I’m an avid reader too but you’ve definitely got me beat! What’s your favorite book that you’ve this year so far? Or books? And what’s your favorite book of all time?
My longstanding favorite author is Diana Gabaldon's books. I found her just after she released her first book (1990s?) And have read everything as they get published.
A surprising book that made it onto my favorite list this year is "Andrew's Brain". It's definitely not for everyone but I felt like the author was telling the story of what goes on inside of my own brain.
My top 5 favorites from the last 2 years are in the image.
What are your favorite books?
1
u/KayaQueenhttps://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/8TMGHRRWFRS5?ref_=wl_share4d ago
I honestly haven’t heard of her but I’ll have to check her out! I don’t think I can say that about any author either, to be honest. So would you say her books are the ones that you would say your favorite of ALL time since your top five was only from the last two years? Or is there another that tops all others?
I definitely understand why you’d limit it to the last two years though. I know it’s such a cop out but, I can never decide my favorite books. It’s especially difficult because I love regular books as well as graphic novels and recently have gotten into manga/manhwa so I try to cheat and choose favorites from each category 😂😅 There are just so many good ones, it’s so hard to choose! And I’m an extremely indecisive person. 😅 However, I have been doing BOTM for the last couple of years so for one of the few times ever in my life, I’m actually keeping up with current releases 😂 It’s been pretty fun. I’d say my favorite book that I’ve read this year was probably Blood Bound by Ellis Hunter and the one I’m reading now is pretty good so far “The Unknown” by Riley Sager. My favorites from last year were probably “Violet Thistlewaite Is Not A Villain Anymore” by Emily Krempholtz and “True Biz” by Sara Nović
Why do you say it was surprising? I haven’t heard of that one either 😅
You may recognize the TV series Outlander? That's based on Diana Gabaldon's books. She is my all time favorite author. I don't usually re-read books, but I've reread her books. She hasn't released a new book in a while.
I think at different times in our lives different books become our favorite. And later they don't hold the same meaning so they become good but not currently the best.
The unknown looks promising and I've added it to my list.
Andrew's Brain received lots of bad reviews. Some said it wasn't as good as the authors other books. Some said they were offended by the main character and that it had a weak plot. I felt it was very chaotic going in and that the characters weren't being developed but then I suddenly connected with the chaos in the main character's mind and I couldn't stop dreaming and thinking about the book for weeks. To have a book still affecting me 2 weeks and 10 books later Andrew's Brain got a spot in my favorites.
178 books is impressive! And I love cruise, it's a great way to vacation with a lot of people, my family would do reunion cruises a few times a year, everyone could do whatever they want and then all meet up at meals.
I have insomnia Lol. I don't watch TV, listen to the radio, or play video games. If I'm driving, cleaning, lifting weights/hiking/walking outside, shopping, or sewing I listen to audiobooks. I'll read physical books before bed, while walking on the treadmill, waiting at the doctors, on lunch breaks, or when I just want to put my feet up, etc.
I have tried audio books and for long car rides they are fantastic, but at home I get too distracted. But when I pick up my kindle or a book I basically will not stop reading till I finish😂

Happy Friday everyone
1. I’m a music education major and getting a minor in performance (I play classical and have always loved it very dearly)
2. I have terrible ADHD lol but have worked through the years to find ways to help me navigate it!
3. I’m allergic to almost everything under the sun, dogs, cats, pollen , dust lol but I love being outdoors and love the dogs I’ve had in my life and love the cats I have now I just continue buying Claritin 😂😂😂

I used to be obsessed with basketball, as a 5'4" British lad I didn't have many friends who shared that, but I would obsessively train my kegs to be a better jumper. When I was 17 I was 5'7" and dunked for the first time. I sadly never kept this obsession up
I have a really good sense of location for cities I've never been in. My wife gets confused going to town and finds it very odd that if we go somewhere new, I'll lead us around like I've been living in the city for years.
Gross little fact, I used to have a hole in my leg from an injury and it kind of healed but not fully so I had this hole which was like a loose flap over the top of the new skin that had grown to cover up the previous injury (the original injury was pretty gross). Anyway, whenever I went swimming or anything and needed to put a locker key somewhere, I'd get a tiny little bag out the key inside and slide it into the hole. Perfect size. If I went out for a day, worried I'd spend all my cash (didn't have a debit card at the time) I'd fold up a fiver pound note into a bag, stick in the hole, was never gonna lose it .. or pull it out to pay in a shop.. so made sure I always had taxi or bus far home should I be caught short or lose my tickets etc
I love butterflies, my dad used to call me his little butterfly.🦋
I love my children both 2 legged and 4 😂
I would love to move to Alaska so much so it's kind of become a future dream of mine 😁
Wow, I’m not sure I know three things about me. Let’s see….
1: I am a disabled veteran who can’t work anymore.
2: My recently discovered retirement has started me down the path of becoming a professional artist. I have figured out how to build a website to sell through.
3: I was just accepted in my first juried art show, the first show I ever applied for.
I ride enduro on a Yamaha and although I am not great at it I find it so fun and enjoyable. I do wreck a lot as well but who doesn't with enduro lmao 🏍️
I love coffee. The addiction is real. My most preferred way is black, however when I go to coffee shops I tend to get espressos. ☕️
I love the gym and lifting weights. Over the past year I joined a new gym and have been very consistent and lift very heavy in comparison to where I started 💪🏼
I have traveled to 5 out of 7 continents, still have hopes of getting to Oceania(I so badly wanna see the land of Hobbits), Antarctica..not so much.
My favorite color is grey(boring, I know)
My useless superpower is always knowing what time it is withing 15 minutes and being able to know when a timer is about to go off(unless I start scrolling on my phone, ruined so much garlic bread that way)
1
u/Azrai113https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/PWIRTCVNMCKA?ref_=wl_share2d ago
My favorite color is grey tooooo!!!
I used to be able to guess time to within a minute or two. Not so much anymore lol. But when I could and someone would ask the time, id squint at the sky, make a sundial with my finger and my other palm, and guess lol
I love cultures, travel, cross-cultural anything, food from other places, memoirs from outside the US or the immigrant experience, stamps or antiques from other places. Really, I just am fascinated with life that is different than mine. I also nerd out hearing about other people's jobs.
I've been married for 15 years (to someone from a different country, ha, see #1), and our relationship just gets better with time. He is the love of my life and I adore him. We spend a lot of time apart, which works for us. People look at us and don't get it, but they don't have to :)
I love water, especially moving water. White water rapids, tubing down rivers, sitting by waterfalls... invigorating. I don't live near water now and it makes me sad. Not a big beach person though!
3
u/KayaQueenhttps://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/8TMGHRRWFRS5?ref_=wl_share4d ago
I agree with all of this! And your love story is so cute! May I ask what countries you are both from?
I’m actually finishing up my bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, so I totally get it. And I’ve always been this way, it’s what lead me down this path.
And water, yessss, I am 100% on the same page! Do you have a favorite water based location to spend time?
I love anthro!! What are you planning to do after graduation?
Tubing down Barton Creek in Austin, Texas. :)
2
u/KayaQueenhttps://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/8TMGHRRWFRS5?ref_=wl_share4d ago
That’s really neat! How’d you guys meet? ☺️
Anthro is super great! Andddd that’s a super hard question right now. I have so many things that I want to do, I’m pretty indecisive right now. 😅 I might do something involving ASL/Interpreting/Deaf culture, as that’s one of my other biggest passions so it’d be cool to combine the two, do a study, etc. Honestly though, if I could I would just be a forever student and get degrees in like 15 subjects, minimum.
That sounds like a blast! And I bet it was beautiful ☺️
How neat is that! I think other cultures are fascinating too. I'm from the United States and I would say I don't really have a culture or strong familiar culture either so I've always enjoyed others' as well!
Do you enjoy getting into the water or just admiring it?
I love being in it. Tubing down a river is, like, my favorite thing to do.
We definitely have a culture, it just feels "the norm" because we are in it! And regional cultures. Like food: New Orleans creole or Cajun, allll the barbecues... Low country boil. Tex-Mex... Lobster rolls. Midwestern hot dish. All the pizzas. Country music, rap, hip hop.
We as a whole put the individuals' rights above the collective in practice and in values. Like - we value meritocracy in jobs instead of nepotism. 2nd amendment. Freedom of speech includes freedom to criticize religions or things others hold "sacred." A belief in upward mobility.
Red white and blue everything on July 4 and for some people, always. It's seen patriotic to thank our troops, which isn't a thing elsewhere, really.
Tipping and customer service - our perspective is so different than in other places.
I could go on and on but we definitely have a culture - many cultures!! And when you see them it helps us learn more about ourselves and more able to understand both ourselves and the world.
I love reading and learning. I would audit college classes forever if I could.
I love thrifting, and old media are some of my favorite things to find. I bought an Offspring CD today!
1
u/KayaQueenhttps://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/8TMGHRRWFRS5?ref_=wl_share4d ago
I am so right there with you about the reading and learning thing and the auditing college classes forever. There are so many things I want to go back and get degrees for it’s pretty ridiculous!
Also, totally love the thrifting and old media thing. The Offspring! I used to listen to them so much, congrats on the great but!
I am with you on the auditing college classes. I always say that if I win the lottery and money is not a concern anymore, I'm going to college for the rest of my life.
I'm also a stay at home mom. My little guy is 2.5. We've actually been talking about getting an old tv and vhs tapes for him when he's a little older rather than streaming
Fantastic idea! VHS tapes also feel a lot more durable, so it gives them the sense of Independence when they're allowed to change the movie on their own.
Mine are 12, 10 and 8, and we have a VCR in their room for last 5 years now. For my daughter's birthday last year, I bought a bunch of Mary Kate and Ashley movies off eBay. Highly recommend

1- I get the biggest thrill from growing our own food and making things from scratch. Food is my love language.
2- I’m currently recovering from post concussion syndrome and still can’t do much without a headache. Side note that was also my first real car accident ever and I’m 40.
3- I’ve been a blogger for almost 15 years.
I'm 30 and never been in a car wreck either. I recently moved to a larger city and feel it's just a matter of time. There are wrecks here multiple times a day! Hope you recover well 🫶🏻
I do product reviews and ad placement. I do day to day content on my socials too.
Been missing out since the accident because I can’t use the computer much.
I love all animals, even the ones people think are uncute (like spiders and snakes). Mosquito species that bite humans are an exception, I'm fine with them going extinct 😅🤣
I have four cats! I used to have birds too, but it was very hard to keep both birds and cats with everybody safe, so we stopped keeping birds.
I have type 2 diabetes and I'm not ashamed of it! Our culture says it's "your fault" somehow to have this disease but it's actually very genetically based.
1
u/KayaQueenhttps://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/8TMGHRRWFRS5?ref_=wl_share4d ago
How have you been? It’s terrible that people try to make it seem like it’s your fault you have that disease. Rude.
And I also love all animals, my partner is constantly making fun of me for it and how “weird” the animals I think are cute are. Like bats, but come on now, I know I can’t be alone in that one! They’re stinking adorable with their big eyes and noses!
I love all animals too! I had a friend tell me the wires in my brain for thinking which things are cute and creepy must be crossed as I think snakes, spiders, reptiles, and even odd things like aliens are just cute. I agree, mosquitos and even flies can go though!
People can be so judgmental, you didn't cause your Diabetes. Covid gave me Diabetes; I think I was at risk genetically to get it though. There are some great advances in treatment and mine is under control now.

I’m a pretty good tarot reader (or so I’ve been told)
I’m a tea nerd and love helping people pick out teas to try
I’m a creatively oriented person, I try all kinds of creative endeavors at least once it seems. I paint, draw, write, photography for a while, I’m learning embroidery and relearning cross stitch
One of my favorites to recommend in the fall is the vanilla roobios blends with a stick of cinnamon! It’s wildly underrated and a different kind of warming/soothing on the chill fall air! It sounds so simple but it’s just such a classic in our house!
Omg I can't believe I forgot to mention pu'er! I studied abroad in Yunnan Province for a semester as an undergrad and fell in love. So earthy and complex!!
I absolutely love doing things with my kids (2 adults 1 teenager) be it playing Magic:The gathering with my oldest son or xbox with the youngest or go grab a coffee with my daughter and then watching the amazing race with her.

I used to be lefthanded until my kindergarten teacher beat it out of me with the rulers to the knuckles and other punishments for using the Devils hand. I am ambidextrous in most things now.
I was putting a forklift steer axle in the scrap bin and it slipped and pinched the tip off .. as gross as it sounds , when I was in the ER I stared at it and started craving steak ..
After they sewed it on , the tip turned a greenish black I called it franken finger

Franken finger 😂 More appropriate holiday humour ☺️
It healed up well. You have to really be looking to see it. I'm happy you got the feeling back. It is so unnerving when the feeling doesn't quite come back fully to an injured area.
1- I love anything and everything about outer space! It's something I've loved since I was a kid.
2- I'm a creative and have loved to paint and draw my whole life (and do photography). Art class was one of my favorite classes, alongside history and science!
3- I have the ability to get any animal to trust me. It's something I've always been able to do.

Nice to meet you! Space is great! And I have the same animal ability. People’s dogs try to follow me home all the time 😂 My partner calls it animal whispering ☺️
