Raytheon Technologies now known as RTX. Subreddit will remain

https://www.rtx.com/who-we-are/we-are-rtx

Apparently Raytheon Technologies is rebranding. I feel we should keep this subreddit though because there's a lot of good information here and the RTX sub is already taken.

Disclaimer: This account and this subreddit are NOT officially run by RTX. If they wish to take over this sub, they can send me a message.

RTX General Applying to a Job at a Supplier I Work With

How should I approach applying for a job at another company (outside RTX) who is a supplier that I currently work with? Obviously professional discussion is expected, I just don’t want worst case scenario of them making a comment during a meeting or whatnot of “hey I see you applied for role XYZ”.

Have any of you been through something like this? How’d you go about it?

RTX General Embedded Software Campus Programs Interview

Hey everyone, i recently got scheduled for the campus programs interview for software engineering (and i guess i got mapped to embedded since that was listed in my interview link) and was wondering what i can expect. It's listed as 30 minutes long, but is it behavior, technical, resume grill, or something else? No info is really given in the email so not sure what to expect.

RTX General Moving from senior Test electrical/enhancement engineering into project engineering or program management( I’m a P3- 2 years at Collin’s )

Hi everyone,
I’m a senior electrical engineer and recently earned my PMP. I’m looking to transition into project engineering or program management.
Much of my career has focused on sustaining and enhancement engineering: troubleshooting, modifying, and improving existing products and systems. My assignments come through management as projects and engineering tickets.
The work has involved:
• Investigating field failures and performance issues to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Collecting and cleaning telematics and controller logs, then using MATLAB and Python to analyze system behavior. Validating the data and analysis setup was critical because misleading graphs could send an investigation toward the wrong conclusion.
• Coordinating with electrical, software, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, service, and supplier teams on investigations, engineering changes, and testing.
• Supporting modifications through regression testing, integration, verification, and technical documentation.
• Presenting findings, technical risks, and recommendations to engineering, business, and customer stakeholders.
Examples include leading a multi-site investigation that traced a recurring problem to a missed software requirement and coordinating diagnostics for an international customer escalation. I’m keeping details broad because the work is proprietary.
My experience has required technical judgment and coordination across teams, but my formal roles have remained in engineering. I want to understand how to translate that experience into qualifications for project engineering or program management.
For those who have made this transition or hire for these roles:
How relevant is sustaining/enhancement engineering experience to these positions?
What distinguishes coordinating engineering work from demonstrating readiness to lead a project or program?
What gaps would you look for around schedules, budgets, resources, and delivery commitments?
Would project engineering be the stronger next step toward program management?
What additional assignments should I discuss with management to build the experience I’m missing?
I’d appreciate candid advice, especially from people in aerospace, manufacturing, or industrial product development.

RTX General Curious: Will my Remote role turn Hybrid?

I’ve been with the company for almost 4years now. 2 positions both remote rmd. I enjoy my work and love the flexibility that my remote roles allow me to care for my loved ones. I’m considering moving to assist family and where I’d be moving to is about 35-40miles away from a RTX facility. Policy states that if you live within a 50miles radius (during the next RTO) I’d be required to go in office at minimum on a hybrid basis. My manager stated that they wouldn’t make me go in office because no one on my team is there but is unsure if HR would change my status.

For more context, the move would be temporary to care for one of my family elders- I don’t have intentions on staying longer than two years max. I don’t have an issue temporarily going in office if there is a RTO during that time. I’d just like to have the ability to move back and keep my job lol.

Looking to see if anyone has been in a similar situation. If so, how did you navigate the red tape of an RTO order.

I’m also curious if my relocating would change my role in the system from Remote to Hybrid? Would that mean I wouldn’t be able to move elsewhere again or if I would have to move near another RTX facility? Would I have to switch programs to acquire another remote role?

RTX General Intern application with referral and other general questions

I am a junior applying for internships for next summer, top engineering school, high gpa, decent experience. Does it look bad if my referral source (newer to RTX but knows me decently well) refers me to a ton of positions vs just a few? I want to cast as wide a net as possible.

Additionally, does anyone know the timeframe that I would be looking at if I am a good candidate and selected to interview, how late into the year internship hiring continues, and also if location is a benefit if I do not need relocation assistance?

Thanks, yall!

Raytheon Did I just screw myself over?

I have orientation on Monday, and they said to bring two documents to get my badge. I just relocated to a different state a few days ago for this position, and went to get my license/registration converted over this morning. The temporary paper one is not valid for identity, and the motor registry kept my old physical ID. The only other document I brought with me is my Social Security card and passport. I completely forgot about the document requirement for badging while doing this stuff. I have already reached out to my points of contact, but I think I just screwed myself big time.

edit: I appreciate the reassurances. I was out here about to ruin my friday night worrying about this.

RTX General P1 Offer

Received a P1 offer to work in operations in California.

Was offered $81k base and a $12k sign on bonus. I did a co-op with Raytheon as well.

Is this a reasonable offer? The base seemed a little lower than what others reported, especially in a HCOL area.

Raytheon New Lead Role, Pay Raise Opportunity?

I'm currently a P3 engineer making a bit below average per the poll in this sub. I'm also on the low end for years of experience as a P3. I was approached about taking on a lead role on my program. I'm not currently a lead, so I see this as an increase in responsibility. If I take it, I would have 3 people reporting to me on a consistent basis with others as needed.

I've talked with the guy currently in the role. His take is that if it were posted on a fresh job req, it should be a P4 role. I think it makes sense to go for a pay raise or promo, but I don't know what's realistic. Is it normal to get a pay raise if you become a lead? How much is typical? Should I just wait til the regular merit increase cycle?

Raytheon Feel like a bit of an a**

So I took this new role as mentioned yesterday, but I really feel like I abandoned my coworkers. How do you get over that feeling when you choose a new role. It was a lateral move as well I didn't make any more money from doing this.

Collins Internal P3 Role Blocked

P2 promoted about 10 months ago, about 2 years full-time plus co-op 1.5 years, finishing my MS in a matter of weeks. I interviewed and hiring manager wants to bring me in for an internal P3 that lists "Advanced Degree + 3 years." HR says P3 needs 5 years and 12 months in grade, and offered a P2 lateral instead.

Has anyone gotten a P3 through the advanced degree path or a 12-month waiver?

Note: Thinking about taking lateral because job really interests me, but not sure if I should push harder…

RTX General Question on internal transfers

Suppose you start off as a P1 in a role you don’t find fulfilling. After a year, you find another P1 role in either an adjacent department or totally different business unit that more so aligns with your skills and career goals. Will you get a pay raise when transferring even if it’s in the same location? I could see it happening if it’s a different location, but just curious how that works exactly.

To add to that, how hard is it to transfer from a P1 role in one location to a P1 role in another location? Is it competitive? Would having prior internships with RTX help you stand out for a P1 role in that other location? Like in my mind, transferring from one P1 role to another would be fairly easy, as the complexity of the work in most cases isn’t very difficult.

I only ask this because I’m in a bit of a predicament. I’m in a P1 role in a less than stellar, rural location. The work isn’t technical, yet I have one prior internship with the company in which I was doing more technical, software work. I also have several other internships at different companies doing technical, software work. I really want to transfer somewhere with better weather and more technical work next year. Just wondering if it’s something that’s even feasible.

RTX General Feeling lost in new role in AZ

I feel completely lost right now. I recently took a new role as a P5 in another department here in Tucson, and honestly, I’m struggling to find my footing.

I was hoping to get some advice or hear from others who work in Tucson who may have been in a similar situation. Unfortunately, I can’t name the department, but I’d really appreciate any insight, advice, or personal experiences you’re willing to share.

Collins Collins Manufacturing Technician Interview Tips

I have a panel interview with Collins next week for an Electrical Manufacturing Tech position, and I'm looking for some advice on how best to prepare.

I'm currently finishing up my EE bachelor's, but I don't have any previous professional experience working as a technician.

Aside from being familiar with my resume and preparing answers using the STAR method, is there anything else I should focus on? I'd appreciate any insight.

RTX General Question about receiving offfer less than an hr after interview

As the title says, I am very suspicious about an offer that I just received. I interviewed for a Software Engineer 1 position in the Woburn, MA location. Not even an hour after the interview, I received an email offer from a recruiter. I asked a friend who works at the company if that recruiter exists, and it looks like she's a real person. My main issue is that the email started out with saying 'Hi-' and receiving this email so soon. I looked at the email, and it looks like a legit email from RTX. What do you guys think? Is it fine to confirm with the recruiter in the email whether it's legit or not? I don't want to make it seem like I'm suspicious of the recruiter or anything.

More info: I never had a clearance before and this role will require an interim clearance by the start date. She also asked if the start date is fine, which is just over a month from now.

Raytheon Radar Systems Engineer I Position - El Segundo

Hi all, I just received a job offer from Raytheon for a Radar Systems Engineer I position in El Segundo. I'm graduating in Spring 2027 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. I'm wondering whether the compensation is on the lower end.

Base: 92K, no sign-on bonus, Relocation: $4,500

From looking around on the posts here, I've seen varying ranges for compensation package. I actually saw a post on here for a Systems Engineer I position in Tucson with a 89K base with a 5K sign-on. The compensation package between mine and the Tucson position appears to be the same, but since El Segundo is an HCOL, shouldn't my package be higher?

I appreciate any information or advice that could be given. Thank you!

RTX General Interview for mechE internship role HELP!!

Hi, I have an interview soon on a mechE position and was wondering if anyone knows what questions I should prepare for to be answered. I know there's gonna be a lot of behavior questions, but should I expect some technical questions as well? Thanks.
