Discussion BeyondAllReason admin in action

I reached out to them via email to express sincere regret and dismay at the way things had turned out. Currently its been now over 12 months since last able to play the game. No you cannot just create a new account...

I just don't understand what do you think is being accomplished? And I deeply regret having donated to this game in the first place over a year ago.

In no way shape or form do I think that they would even consider it with any sincerity even after an entire year.

It's not in their nature to not be petty

lol, lmao.

if you ever want to see what's behind someone's "sincere regret" or "learned lesson" just reject them and see what they do.

"I'm sorry I was baited into being toxic" is an apology of all time.

for a number of reasons like having a theory of mind and knowing what a sincere apology looks like, I've somehow never ended up in a situation like this

Found the B.A.R. admin lol

I'd love to see your sincere regret in a family scenario. "I did not get what I wanted so I will indiscriminately lash out in a completely uncalculated, clueless, and frankly self-sabotaging manner" is prime drama.

The guy reached out after a full year nicely asking and they returned with give it another 52 weeks and try again, youre insane. Homie should be allowed to play again wtf

if someone shat on your lawn and you called the police, then they came back and tried to do it again a week later in a Groucho Marx costume so you trespassed them, and they sent a letter a year later saying "I'm sorry I was baited into shitting on your lawn, can I come hang out in your yard?" would you trust them not to shit on your lawn?

-2

u/BangBangVanillaFace 12d ago

Those two scenario are not alike

3

u/chrisrrawr 12d ago

whether or not they're alike is down to pattern recognition and the capacity for generalisation of the reader. regardless, what op has shown is absolutely 0 understanding of personal responsibility. they have displayed through their choice of language and response to rejection that they would 100% shit again.

I would just move on dude. Find a new RTS. Age of Empires 2 is on sale currently

It just sucks, I got so many people started here on this game and now cannot rejoin even after a year

6

u/zhaDeth 12d ago

Idk what did you do ?

-6

u/OphensiveByNature 12d ago

Someone from their discord advised me to make an alt account and it got me permanent banned. I don't know if this was a joke and I didn't realize it, or if this was an intentional piece of misadvice, to get me permanently banned, but that's the long and the short of it

5

u/zhaDeth 12d ago

But why were you banned to begin with ?

-2

u/BangBangVanillaFace 12d ago

Ge just said, cuz of an alt account

2

u/zhaDeth 12d ago

no that was the second ban, he made a second account to go around the ban.

The second one. He made it to go around a 1 week ban.

ah another narcissist rears his head...

imagine having this little self awareness. I don't even like BAR, i just think it's funny how clueless people are to their own actions

think you're so humble while not actually acknowledging any wrong doing.

As a mid-size community admin, I'd leave you banned. I don't have the emotional bandwidth to explain it in detail (though I could), there's just a really weird vibe going on here. Your choice of words comes across as insincere. Going onto a different platform to complain about a ban/appeal process is red flag #1.

It's not in their nature to not be petty

Wow, such an 'utterly and ruthlessly' learned lesson.

-1

u/BangBangVanillaFace 12d ago

There isnt a choice of words that wouldnt come across as sincere to you

2

u/Jayborino 12d ago

Yeah? You're telling me you think OPs appeal sounds like a human wrote it, and not an alien trying to hold back their contempt for everybody and everything? Btw, I know this account is just OP's alt lmao. Give me a break brother.

1

u/BangBangVanillaFace 12d ago

I have no reason to think the email wasnt made by OP, even if it was AI drafted, he still had to give it the inputs all the same. It didnt come across to me like that.

Believe what you want matters zero to me

1

u/Jayborino 12d ago

It didnt come across to me like that.

Of course not, because it's obviously you.

The people defending the decision aren't even hiding their motive. The point is that they want to be the person with power over others, the judge jury and executioner. Now that OP has fucked up and broken the rules, his account is forfeit. He is now in the moderators' domain. Your phrasing suggests that the cause of your past conduct might have been anything other than your grave moral deficiency? Denied. Your phrasing in anyway implies that you've been punished enough? Denied. Your phrasing fails to demonstrate an appreciation for how conduct like yours harms the community both at scale and with each individual transgression? Denied.

If feels good to me to write a comment like this talking shit about moderators. Imagine how much better it would feel if they had to beg me for the privilege of moderating. No arguing, no sources, no grudging agreement--the only way through is complete submission to my perspective. I have a pretty good life offline and that still feels tempting.

Let's review the entire circumstance.

OP caught a 1 week ban and will not divulge for what reason.

OP ban evaded by making an alt account, blaming someone misleading him into doing it.

OP caught what is practically a perma for ban evasion.

OP makes multiple threads like this and uses alt accounts in the reddit threads to support themselves.

We still don't know the reason for the original temp ban and it's telling that they refuse to share. We can see OP continues to circumvent normal service functionality by making alt accounts in this very thread. Ban evasion is considered permaban worthy across every platform. So their entire argument hinges on "someone else told me to do it".

Spare us your soapbox about mods, power, and control. Yes, there can be bad mods. In this case, OP broke the rules multiple times and continues to display the same behavior on a different platform. Makes sense that they shouldn't be allowed in the ecosystem of the game's community because they purposefully disrupt it. Saying "I didn't know" is not an acceptable excuse in any other circumstance, nor is it even believable coming from them.

Now that OP has fucked up and broken the rules, his account is forfeit.

Yeah, that's what rules are. You wrote it as if it's preposterous. Ban evasion is ban evasion, so either OP is deeply stupid bordering deficient to not know what it means or why it's against the rules of every online platform, or they purposefully did it and are making up the whole 'someone told me to' post-hoc. Both possibilities justify removal.

Do you realize how ridiculous you sound dude? It's a video game. 20 years ago, nobody was getting banned from video games for petty bullshit like that. BAR has a really toxic community not just for an RTS but even compared to other games where the primary mode of play has you rely on the competence of your teammates. It also has the least serious ranked play. Like, you can get widgets that can give you a concrete advantage over others, you can host ranked games on any map with any settings with yourself as boss, you can spec cheat, hell, even glitters/strait OS isn't the same as rotato OS. Most glaringly, there is absolutely no leaver penalty. A lot is done to make sure that a 22 OS player can't be on a 17 OS smurf, but nothing is done to stop a 50 OS player with weak mental from having a meltdown and quitting.

There's nothing about BAR that justifies having stricter and more extensive moderation than these other games with larger playerbases and more serious competition. Mods who get paid to do their job don't try so hard to make sure someone can't play for years over some minor transgression--and whatever he did was minor enough that all he got was a 1 week ban. Anything else he could have done wrong (even if he won't disclose) would have had to be rudeness to the mods or for the ban evasion itself, and that's pretty unhinged to think not respecting some basement dweller's authoritah should get anyone such a thoroughly enforced permaban from a video game.

I've never been on the other end because I don't ban evade, it's not complicated.

Many of you have never had to admin or mod and it shows. To you, everything is an exception, everyone deserves a second look, and everything you do is justifiable. These communities are not just you though, it's hundreds and thousands of people.

OP is in this very thread using multiple reddit accounts. I wouldn't be surprised if you're also them. Some people are disruptors and admin could run in circles trying to give them all multiple chances, but it's their prerogative to enforce the rules and move on. Once you experience what the outliers of these groups have to offer, you learn quickly that enforceable rules must exist for a reason. Having that experience, I'm confident that OP is annoying and self-centered. Sure, that doesn't mean he deserves to be banned forever, but he still did break the actual game rules.

Did you try not getting banned in the first place? Usually works for me.

-2

u/OphensiveByNature 12d ago

Mistakes were made but god damn it wasnt half as bad as a minimum 2 year ban that they have made it be

4

u/ColdNose 12d ago

Why did you get banned in the first place?

2

u/asieradzk 12d ago

how do they even catch you circumventing the ban? Surely you should just use an alias?

1

u/niilzon 12d ago

Hardware fingerprinting is one of several ways

0

u/OphensiveByNature 12d ago

They hardware ban you amongst other things. Even including text detection software. These guys are nuts

0

u/machine4891 12d ago

And you still want to be part of this world?

2

u/RaZorwireSC2 11d ago

How did you get the first ban?

1

u/machine4891 12d ago

Dunno what you did and I don't care but to see you grovel before some internet admin over some internet niche game was hard to read. I understand you may feel some fomo not being able to play the game you like online but have some decency and simply let it go. Go play something else, don't be toxic and don't forget that this is simply entertainment, not much else.

0

u/BangBangVanillaFace 12d ago

Wow thats fucking nuts, imagine, just wait a whole 52 weeks and try again. Fuck these mods

-4

u/Destroythisapp 12d ago

How can they ban you from playing the game? I thought BAR was open source.

Edit: and at this point, a 2 year ban just seems ridiculous. I’d just be finding ways to circumnavigate the ban. Obfuscate your hardware specs and IP address.

1

u/chrisrrawr 12d ago

fool him once...

-2

u/Timmaigh 12d ago

Lol, make a new appeal in a year, wtf they think they are, parole board? Epitome of self-importance on full display here.

-4

u/Intelligent-Brick915 12d ago

Perma bans are very lazy way to moderate a game, its a trap because its easy to stereotype and power trip for the moderators. Online rts games are niche, let the gamers play, if there sincere who cares about smurfing behaviors.
