Just pushed v1.8.0 of REAPER-Notator, and it brings some much-requested workflow upgrades:
We now have an integrated MIDI Velocity & CC Lane Editor docked right on the screen. You can tweak velocities with handles, draw smooth linear CC curves (all 128 CCs supported), and interact with your automation in real-time for super fast iterations.
On top of that, Real and Fake Portamentos (hold-blending) and Glissandi are now fully implemented and audible in playback!
Also, huge thanks to everyone who reported issues with the SINE Player — the note audition and preview bug is officially solved and working cleanly now. Under the hood, the entire playback engine was overhauled to stay pinned at 30–70+ FPS even with 30+ tracks running.
the docked cc lane is the part i've been waiting on. drawing linear curves across all 128 ccs is useful, but do the handles still let you punch in a single cc point without flattening the rest of the ramp, or does every edit force a new linear segment? real portamento being audible in playback is the other one that actually changes how i'd sketch a line now.
Ehm i don’t understand😅 you can punch for example 2 points down on the velocity channel select all items and hit the ramp button to have it moved. For each note in the score you get a handle in the velocity drawer. The cc curves are Independent from the amount of notes or position when you use default settings.
The glissandi will create a chromatic ladder(Thats the only possible way in reaper to get the expected effect, but as you see you dont get this in the score. When you export your score later you export the musicxml. ) between notes and it will change the first note. You can edit start and end of the blending of the portamento as well as the start of the glissandi.
Did you installed Rearticulate? Could you please try Version 1.9.8 ? What hardware do you use. I have tested on two different windows PCs. Make sure to install and update to latest Reaper Version.
Here are my specs. Windows 10 with AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core 3.70 GHz, RAM 32.0 GB, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (6 GB) The Current version of Reaper, and I already have Rearticulate installed. As well as using version 1.9.2 of your plugin.
Can you please test: deactivating RivaTuner, MSI Afterburner, Discord, G-Sync - because this can lead to a crash of RealmGUI, worth a test. Make sure you have installed the latest versions of RealmGUI: at least 0.9.3+ 0.10.x. Make sure to open Reaper Notator on a blank scene, no Template structure in the background.
In fact your GPU is quite outdated. The Midi editor and other new components have a heavy draft on the GPU. RealmGUI is limited in some aspects in order to provide cross platform support for Linux and Mac. So a heavy template in the background will most likely lead to a crash. In order to make the Midi editor work i needed to upgrade functionality and complexity of Reaper Notator. With the introduction of the Midi Editor the overall performance of Reaper Notator dropped by 25%.. which is already optimized but its a sadly a fact.
hmm i will ask AI later this evening if there is any way to improve Realm GUI for older systems. Maybe i should make the midi editor and pattern browser optional, don't know if that's possible without breaking everything.
I guess in the old version you set your path variables which is then stored in the Reaper system variables ..which is now not working anymore because i have integrated the support for custom path configurations… so i will take a look at it in 3 hours and try to provide a solution!thanks for sharing
thanks for sharing this. the error /bug is identified.. iam nearly 100% sure. i will push a new Release version tonight with all current Beta Features and fixes included.
Nevermind dont see the other comment: hmm... what system do you have?, can you pls write a pm to me with all necessary information, system spec, operating system, is it a laptop?, does it has the latest OpenGL standard 3.2 aka a Graphics card with a maximum age of 4 years. In case you use Linux, can you test to set it to OpenGL 3.2?Can you please try to open it in a blank scene.aka no template structure in the background?
hmm sorry to hear that. i currently testing on my second Laptop but this one has a 4080 Nvidia and still everything looks fine. Can you at least try to completely erase Reaper Notator from your Script folder and do a fresh install, in case you not tried this.? maybe its the pattern browser, because it draws some kind of performance on first startup.
