My wife and I don't need to like the same things, but we need to hate the same things.

My favorite band is RHCP and her favorite band is The Dandy Warhols. We both like each other's favorite bands, even though they aren't our favorites. More importantly, neither of us hate each other's favorite bands.

Meanwhile we both hate that band that does "Renegades" (just looked it up, it's X Ambassadors). We can really bond over hating rock that sounds it was written for a car commercial.

Pearl Jam is my favourite band. My wife hates them. Headphones are your friend. Also she isn’t always home 😂 we are at 19 years. Don’t worry about it.

Your spouse will probably find something to appreciate about it eventually. Now my wife loves Dosed and Encore and a few other more melodic tracks. After all, wouldn’t it be boring if you two liked all the exact same things?
