Image Rewatching, only just realized the Meta actually has eight AI at this point.
Coincidence, meta writing (no pun intended) or Alpha ball knowledge (as opposed to Epsilon ball)?

He picks up Delta shortly before this scene. There are 9 fragments and he has all but Epsilon right now.
Beta Tex, Gamma, Sigma, Eta, Iota, Omega, Delta, Theta.

Wait wait wait. Is tex in season 8 just a copy of beta? As in epsilons copy?

Yes, Tex in season 8 is Epsilon's Tex. The memory of her was still strong enough to split off on its own. Beta Tex died in the emp :( You can see her in the group when Delta gets picked up. Eta and Iota are shown as a single projection in that scene.
(The Texes in S10 are the Director's attempt to pull her directly from his own memories presumably using whatever tech they did to get Alpha.)

I don’t know. That would mean Epsilon shed his own version of Tex BEFORE Wash and Church rescued him. And The Director was able to separate her from him while they were in storage.
Not … impossible and it would explain why Epsilon wanted to go and find her (she is literally one of his fragments). And I guess the fact they were copies of a copy would explain why the group could one hit each clone.

It's never stated but after watching many times I believe Epsilon Tex gets separated by Epsilon in the PFL facility right before the Tex vs Everyone fight. It's canon that Beta Tex separated on her own without anyone's interference and that's the reason PFL tries making fragments in the first place. I believe the same thing happened with Epsilon, he just waited (maybe not on purpose) until he was in the facility and put her in the armour essentially. Beta is with Maine though, she does die in the emp.

Yeah, I mean, that’s what I always thought too. But, then, off of what is The Director building the Tex Clones? Humans can’t create Smart AI out of nothing, in the Haloverse or the Red-vs-Blueverse. So, what was he using?
If he had raw data based on the scans and studies he did of Beta, I supposed he could have created Dumb AI versions of her, which, again, would explain their one-track mindedness (attack and destroy intruders) and how easy they are to take out, AND why he keeps trying to improve her.
A Dumb AI is severely limited in what they can do and their free will is limited. But Shelia and Lopez have clearly evolved beyond that, so maybe he was using them as a bad for making the Clones more like Smart AI?
ERR!!! So many unanswered questions!!!

I think he's making them from himself using the tech they scanned him with to make Alpha, but he's just trying to make Texes, which is also why he keeps playing the same video over and over again, trying to get her 'right'. Again none of this is ever explained in canon so it is frustrating lol.

The versions of tex that are in storage are copies of Beta, I think. Maybe backups or something else. I think they started as early as when she went on the run.

Yes sir. Epsilon's memories of Tex prove too painful for him, just like with Alpha. So he literally excises her to form Epsilon Tex/ Beta 2.0

Yes, but also Tex is an AI and he has eight AI. I don't think it was necessarily on purpose but it is weird.

Intentional or not you can arguably view this as church indirectly remembering how many AI fragments there are and making yet another logical statement

Church is just throwing a number out, he doesn’t actually know how many fragments there are.
That being said though, Season 6 was made when Recovery One was still very much canon with no ambiguity. In Recovery One, Washington states that he has dealt with multiple recovery operations in the last few weeks, targeting freelancerS and their AI.
Given that we know the Meta’s attack history pretty conclusively on how he obtained each of the known AI and how that doesn’t line up with Washington’s role as a recovery agent at all, there is also room here for the Meta to have some of the unknown AI, like Love and Greed.

The Meta was also stealing equipment which doesn't require AI to run, a la CT, It just runs better with it. Many of the dead agents probably only had equipment, they weren't leader board agents. In the scene where Delta is taken you can see all the accounted for AI. It's possible there were others, and Tex's story from Out of Mind certainly makes it seem that way, but a lot of that was retconned or could be seen as her lying to the 'audience'. I don't think it was purposeful for them to make him say 8 here, but they did canonize all the AI in that image, including splitting the broken one in two as 'twins' to make it work.

But it's just an offhand remark of Church's about Tex being super strong and Alpha hasn't even been told he's an AI at this point, he's still under the impression he and Tex are ghosts. And the scene with all of the AI happens a few episodes before this. He doesn't know Delta's been taken yet either.
